I really wasn't even expecting MC because of the books but I'm so glad the show decided to go that route and they had chemistry from the very first scene! The first episode where they had scenes and he takes her home is still one of their best.

I agree and I think by the time it was early S2, they had finally reached their happy place but then Caroline turned and she didn't want to end up hurting Matt and she made this sacrifice to protect him. They really don't have it easy but it's journey and I still find their journey to be one of the best in the show.

I think they worked also b/c they are opposites. Matt's a good guy & he's grounded & IMO that's what Caroline needs.

They're pretty good at scheming together! And it was adorable that he was helping her out. And I like the way he says Caroline

random but when he was running after her and saying Caroline over and over I was like aww.

So last night JP was having one of her tweeting moment so I said to her

Also I sort of liked this scene, like at first I really liked it but then I thought it was a little weird that Caroline was trying to tell Matt what to do in terms of Elena and how he should practically stay away from her. I know she said it for his safety but then she also mentioned that Elena was spoken for, if the reason he was hanging out w/ her more was because he wanted to get back w/ her, which I felt like listen this is Matt here - he's not some ulterior motives kind of guy. He's pretty straight forward so give him more credit than that.

But if I just look at it on the surface that she's looking out for him, well then I appreciate that part.
