I could PM you if you want Jules but the short version is that LJ Smith won't be writing the rest of TVD books because she wasn't writing the books the way the publishers wanted her to. From now on, a ghostwriter will be writing the book under her name. She won't be affiliated w/ the following books at all.

oh I see. I didn't hear her say anything about DB except for something about the publishers not wanting her to write about them either. I think thats very strange

I don't think it was DB in particular, but they wanted SE strictly books, and less Bonnie , Damon as characters. I wouldn't be surprised if we'll have DB in the new books, because who else are they gonna pair Damon with?
