TFTNT! Still not really feeling the title

cause part of it isn't true. If I recall, Stefan gave up on Damon in 1x04 - 1x05 and locked him in the basement w/ vervain. If Damon hadn't gotten out himself, he'd still be in there.

I'm just saying that they've both had their times when they didn't believe in each other and this title doesn't depict that correctly. I wish there was another title we could use because this one is not even, it doesn't show both Stefan and Damon in a positive light. Also, it's really too bad that their "Blood Brothers" tag couldn't fit in it either. Anyways, hoping for some DS scenes in tomorrow's episode for sure!

I don't know if that would be considered giving up. If he was really giving up wouldn't he have let him be killed or killed him? He put him in there to stop him from killing people and was going to let him out down the line. Also they have always said things and even done things but deep down I don't think they really gave up hope on each other not really. Everyone has different look about it though.

I hope we get some scenes tomorrow too.

ETA: I don't want you to feel uncomfortable Kem. If you have another idea for the thread title and others agree maybe we can change it.

I believe it IS true. When he locked Damon up.. that wasn't him giving up on him.. it was more trying to protect Damon and everyone else. I mean, what else was Stefan meant to do?

Personally, I think that was a time that Stefan had given up on him. I don't think Stefan could ever actually kill Damon though just as Damon could never kill Stefan. However, Stefan was going to lock him in the basement for 100 or so years and then they would talk about whether to let him out or not. Damon did some bad things, I won't deny that but I also won't pretend that I didn't like what Stefan's initial plan for him was. Of course things have changed now and have gone a different way and both of them have had moments of not trusting each other, hence why I don't think this title is appropriate. They've both been there for each other, they've both helped each other, they've both had their problems and disagreements. I see them as people on equal footing and try not to put one brother over the other in terms of their relationship.

I'm sorry guys, I don't want to be a burden but the title just doesn't sit well w/ me and since it was a title from an article and not one that someone themselves in here came up with, I feel comfortable in saying that, that person's opinion doesn't reflect my opinion of DS. If we are talking about possible changes in title here are a few that I can think of:

Because they fought the pack of werewolves together!
Because "try not to get yourself killed" - "yeah, it's been a day for that".
Because the top of our wish list reads "more DS scenes please"!
Because Stefan called Alaric right away when he thought Damon was in danger.

Edit: Maybe I shouldn't even had said anything, IDK - I don't want to take away from calmness of the thread, I didn't mean to spark a debate on what Stefan and Damon have done for each other. It's just a title that doesn't match DS's relationship to me but if you guys like it, we'll keep it. We're going through these threads fast anyways, I'm sure we'll be done w/ it soon enough.

Not happy with the title either. I don't share the view and frankly, find it a bit anti-Damon which is something I think this particular thread should be refraining from.

I agree that there should be a title change.

I don't think Damon is blind to Stefan's efforts, otherwise he never would have put his brothers happiness above his own when he compelled Elena to forget his love confession.

He was touched when Stefan apologized for turning him and I think the following events in the episode were evidence of this. Also, if Damon was blind to Stefan's efforts, he wouldn't have saved him in "Let The Right One In".

I just think since this is an appreciation thread for both brothers, the title should celebrate their relationship instead of imply that it's one-sided.

Exactly. All it will lead to is a debate on how and if the relationship is one-sided and which brother really is the one who does all the work and I don't think we need that in here.
