Exactly and Bonnie & Damon should have been endgame! My poor Bamon shipper I'm annoyed they didn't have a scene in the series finale but they were best friends! She was leaving town too. Lame writers should have them a scene.

Bamon were perfect for each other but the writers could never just give them a chance!

I'm glad the this dance scene was their final scene then at least in the episode before the series finale!

^That scene was great. In a lot of ways that episode was like part 1 of the finale.

I like what this guy said about that scene, that it was Enzo handing her back to DAMON to "live her life". I kind of picked up on that at the time, but was afraid of taking it too seriously and getting my hopes up that there was an intention for the finale being implied there. if you look at 815 as part 1 i think it helps a bit, because at least b/d got that little moment and stuff.

i love love love DB and their friendship but I never ever thought the show implied they were something more. I think I thought it was possible in season 7 after Elena left but they never went that route. I would have been okay with it had they done that but with nina off the show I think it was too hard to try to switch to something else because damon wasnt gonna let go of her. They could have just killed Elena in season 6 and then they could have had DB work towards something. And when they brought nina back in the finale it could have been in the afterlife instead of it being stefan. so many different options.

Yeah, I agree that there were a lot of options. However, because she was a major character, it was a cool idea to not have her die--but sleep--so that she might be able to return later. Problem was, however, that they essentially wrote themselves into a corner. Damon couldn't really move on, and I imagine (since I missed a lot of S6 LOL) that the way they left things between Damon and Elena before she went to sleep meant that they did have to end things with those two together. It would have been too manipulative on their part to make people believe in their relationship as it was and then suddenly turn it around at the last minute in the finale. Where they could have begun to turn things around, however, was BEFORE Elena went to sleep, and they kind of did--after all, she didn't remember him when he got back from the prison world.

I always saw that Damon and Bonnie had sexual chemistry, ever since the episode "The Last Dance" in S2. Indeed, Bonnie is so passionate and Damon so sexual, that some chemistry is inevitable . It was easy to dismiss this as just the way their personalities are, however, for I never believed they would put them together. It was always subtext, never text. However, when fans started talking about Bamon because of S6, I could see it as a possibility, because they had chemistry AND such a strong friendship, it was like a marriage. I never considered it seriously, however, because the writers always MADE us believe that Damon and Elena were meant to be together. In S7, however, I got a strong vibe that they were in love; Bonnie was SO hurt that Damon abandoned her and Damon seemed actually jealous of her and Enzo. I still didn't believe they would put them together, but by this point I do think the relationship was being written more as a possible love story, and it's my favorite kind, because not only is their chemistry there is a solid foundation.

I felt like the lines were blurred in S7. It was friendship that was so strong that it was almost romantic. For instance Bonnie talking about Damon in therapy or Damon's reaction to BE. He looked downright jealous and I loved it There are actually some parallel gifsets of Damon/Bonnie/Enzo and Stefan/Caroline/Alaric from the end of S7 because there were so many similar scenarios. Some people have even brought up parallels to Stefan/Elena/Damon. It legit felt like they were building up to something. Their friendship was not like any other. And that letter proved she was just as important as Elena in being able to influence him and him fearing disappointing her. So with a different set of writers I think they could have gone there. Such lost potential

i didnt pay much attention to season 7 so maybe thats part of it.

i loved their bond and conncetion and i did get the vibe that he was a bit jealous but they never extended on it enough for me to view it as romantic.

but that wouldnt have felt right either because with her not remembering that seems like a cop out. I think where it would have been time to split DE up if they wanted, it would have been season 5, after they were together for a while. because they were having issues with elena and her changing some of her "moral" views and continuing to forgive damon's antics or wahtever. so if they wanted to split them up they should have done it then.

Yeah, I had issues with that too. Seemed really OOC for Elena and Damon just wasn't progressing as a character. Seemed codependent.
