I hear that they're trying to make Damon the hero now....so literally, what was the point of having him kill Tyler off?

Either it will come into play when in a future episode Caroline and Bonnie have to go into Damon's mind or it will be later and Damon finds out Tyler is in hell and in order to fix what he broke he saves him somehow either bringing Tyler back to life or moving onto a different afterlife .

I guess so, but we all know there's not going to be a good payoff from all of this.....

Hah. A good payoff, wouldn't that be something? I was just thinking that I can't imagine this show having a satisfying finale. I just don't think it's earned in any way for everything to work out nice and neatly for most of these characters. They are just such horrible and selfish people and they have caused so much doom around them and they never seem to care much. I used to accept that and I thought hey at least they care about each other right. But unless it's a romantic relationship, their bond with each other is often forgotten or severly lacking and they are so separated from each other. I can only think of one group scene in the whole series. I just don't see anything redeeming about them anymore. I think a Seinfeld type ending would be the most fitting only worse.

I completely agree with everything you've said - except the Seinfeld thing, because I didn't watch that show so I don't get the reference

The only satisfying thing about it will be that the show will finally be over.

The finale for Seinfeld had the main characters on trial for all their terrible behavior and past characters showed up to give testimony of how horrible they were .

Sadly Tyler had no real closure or even really affected Damon and his guilt, but there's still a few episodes left so maybe something significant will happen for him. I just give up that TC will share anything since the writers seem determined to forget and/or make everyone forget they were together/friends .
