Just bringing this over. probably does but then again he could have hurt her ( back in Mystic Falls) and never did... course, that was because probably of the show being picked up perhaps, etc, but still... Klaus has had feelings / mannerisms. He slaughters a bunch of people but because Marcel picked up the coin he won't kill him? He bites Elijah for accusing him of using the baby for his own means but then ultimately just walks away... she does need a back up plan though. and yeah, he is doing pretty much everything he can to make her hate him but I think as of right now he's angry with her for seemingly siding with Elijah about his intentions so its his way of getting back at her... in his mind, if he takes away her family the way that he's taken himself away from his own family, then all the family that she'd have left is him and the baby and therefore, would have no where else to go, maybe.... not realizing that it would blow up in his face like most of his plots __________________

bringing this over:
she could try to placate him but that would just be stupid. he would see through it. there's no point in trying to manipulate Klaus. he's paranoid enough so he is always on alert. I do think in some weird way he does care, because they were able to live together for those months while Elijah was daggered & Rebekah was MIA. It wasn't until Elijah came back and Hayley drifted towards him, that's when things got messy. The thing is though...if he all cared about was keeping the baby safe. He could have just left Hayley with Rebekah/Elijah. He knows they will protect her but he wants to keep an watchful eye on her. __________________

So he does care... he just refuses to show it. And yes, I imagine that if she tried to placate him he'd imagine she was up to something. It has to be gradual and natural for him to accept it. I mean, he could have just thrown her in the car but he did give her the chance to get in willingly... basically. Baby steps. __________________

He does care but has a REALLY lousy way of showing it. She still didn't have much of a choice about getting in the car. He basically threatened her. __________________

Klaus reminds me of some book I was reading where someone asked the main character what they could do to make it right and the main character smart assed remarked that they could give them so and so's head in a basket... later in the book that person presented the main character with her opponent's head... in a basket. She remarked to her BF that she hadn't really meant it and he knew but the other guy didn't get it... I think that's Klaus right now. He does care but at the same time he goes about it the wrong way __________________

Yeah with Elijah it was a different story he didn't know what he was doing, he thought it was Klaus.. meanwhile Klaus knew exactly who it was when he choking her.
