It's been a very spontaneous thing
I think I just wanted to show him one scene or whatever and then we ended up watching entire 1x17 and that's how it started  I had to refrain myself from laughing when Damon stabbed Elijah in 2x08 and my dad was all "That's it? All this badassery and he's already down? Boo"  __________________

IKR? And now Klaus is getting all hyped up and he's "Let me guess, you're about to enter season 6 and you STILL haven't met Klaus?"
And I bite my lip and think "Oh no we met him, we met his family, he got his own spin off... but I sure as hell won't tell you" And he complimented Elena  Remember 2x09, Katerina? When Elena came close to the tomb he said "She should have brought a bloodbag" and then Elena had the bottle And when Elena used the stick to pull the blood over he said "Oh, she's smart!"  But I have to say... Damon is getting on my nerves  We watched the first two episodes in english, but I had to pause like every two scenes because he's not good enough at it and I had to explain everything, so we switched to watch it in german. And I forgot how AWFUL it is. The way Damon talks in german is just... ugh... But at least my dad knows the difference, so it's fine  __________________

Yeah I remember already during 1x17 when Elena entered the house herself my dad was all "Aaaah let me guess, now they have to rescue her out of the house and not Stefan, bc that's how it always is" I think he really appreciates that's it's not you're average damsel in distress movie and he gets surprised a lot I know he won't ship anything and I don't expect him to, so the knowledge that he sees Delena, even though the JNSI happened very early for him (only like 5 episodes in) already speaks volumes __________________

I asked him early in s2 if we should start fromthe beginning, but he said his brain is too old and couldn't process that right now from switching to what he saw right now to wherever the beginning was
But I regret it. I have to explain so much and feel he doesn't get the depth of how different Damon is for example from early s1 to s2. He knows Damon was the villain and blahblah, but seeing what happened is something different. And all the depth in DE's journey But that's actually why I felt almost shocked that he saw the DE connection, bc he didn't see where it came from. And let me tell you after watching like only 4 or 5 episodes he actually talked about the characters like some people write on tumblr. Making character analysises and I was surprised how spot on he was even though he missed the big first part of the journey  __________________

Yeah, i get it, what's funny is that's how i started I was so excited for TVD but when it premiered i was sharing a TV so i couldn't watch it, i didn't really start really watching it till 1x13 or so.... I am the original poster in here but i had to watch their scenes on youtube DE's connection is so strong you can see it even if you don't watch from the beginning __________________

I only started TVD bc I was bored
I only watched it casually for the first 2 seasons, and then I stopped for a while. I think I had a soft spot for DE, but I didn't care about ships as a casual viewer and didn't mind SE (They bored me to tears in the beginning, but second half of s1 and entire s2 they were fine by me  )I'm just so surprised by my father bc JNSI is one of the first episodes he saw, and since it's still such a HUGE deal in the fandom its funny seeing him being all casual about it and seeing what's there, even though he didn't see the history leading up to this point __________________

Exactly! That's why it's so funny to me that he - a 50 year old man (who is VERY into women rights btw) - who only watched very few episodes before this happens doesn't judge much, and is "They have some sort of connection".
While I half cover my eyes whenever I rewatch that scene It must be funny for him though watching it with me. During that I try to cover my eyes, while with 2x08 love compulsion I make some weird squeeing noises I can't help it. I tried __________________

No but you know what I appreciate? He doesn't just agree with me. I know at one scene I rolled my eyes at Stefan and my dad was like "What? He's right!" So it's not like he's taking my side bc I'm his daughter. So it's really interesting and entertaining to watch with him, because he makes up his own mind, fortunately far faaaar away from any crazy fandom I REALLY try not to have reactions to not spoil him, but with some DE scenes I just can't And when 2x08 came on I caught myself saying "OMG I LOVE that scene" before I could help it. He knows my bias, so whatever __________________
