Elijah and Klaus are the two men that made the Originals happen. They also stopped TVD from turning into The Triangle Diaries as long as they were in it. It's not doing so well now without them, imho.

The scene from the gifset didn't really solve anything. It was just a plot device to get Elijah and Bekah into the Mikaelson household.
Elijah and Klaus didn't discuss the situation with Hayley or who is going to be the dad and who is going to back off with a dagger most likely in his heart for a century or two. Obviously Elijah won't get daggered he is a regular on the show but daggering him and growing his child alone would be the simplest solution for Klaus.

I just watched the director's cut of the pilot, and was surprised to find so much new scenes in there.
Especially with Elijah and Klaus. In one Elijah reminds how full of love Klaus used to be, and all he ever wanted was to be loved in return.
I hope in 5-6 years when TO is over we will end up with Klaus back to his old self.
Daniel is such a good actor, there is so much love and adoration when Elijah talks about Niklaus.

Exactly!!! They are different from each other, but yet have similar attitudes sometimes.
