No one saw them coming. Mercedes Jones was the sassy diva. Sam Evans was the new student at Mckinely High. We didn't really get to see them interact until junior prom. They began a secret relationship during the summer, but it was cut short when Sam moved back to Tennesee with his family. Now, Sam is back and has made it clear that Mercedes is the only girl he wants and that he is willing to f i g h t for her.

love Sam giving Mercedes the Valentines is the first thing you see. As you mentioned before, Sam looked so earnest in that scene. I just loved them even more after that.

but at the same time, I really respect Mercedes for choosing to be single and finding herself, etc.

She doesn't need a man to complete her, love that kind of independence. Even though I don't want it to last for too long, I do appreciate it

I totally love the fact that she's strong and independent. And that she recognizes that cheating is bad

( I mean seriously does anyone else on this show? ) However, Sam has totally put it all on the line for her. He's shown her in almost every way conceivable that he's the guy for her and she's the girl for him. Even by backing off in the hiatus finale and not forcing the issue. Basically Mercedes has to let go of this self-imposed punishment and let the guy love her. He's already shown he supports her career.

And they are similar like Sam is willing to embarrass to impress Mercedes much like Luke did for Brooke. Plus Mercedes keeps fighting the inevitable like Brooke.
