Y2K scare... Because it's the end of the world!

Does anyone remember the Y2K scare?

We may laugh about it now but I remember people being genuinely worried that airplanes were going to fall out of the sky and the world was going to literally end.

My mom bought a couple of boxes of bottled water, but nothing more that that. I know some people stocked up their bomb shelters...

I don't think anyone around here brought anything for the end of the world. But I do remember thinking that the world was going to end.

I remember knowing that it meant the computers thought it would be 1900.. and I guess some people thought that would mean the computers would shut off? Because they weren't around in 1900?

I guess now the big thing is 2012.

I remember. I never really thought about it. I didn't buy it. My neighbor was stocking up on food and acting like a tornado was coming. Lol. She asked me what I was doing about it and I said "nothing". She looked at me like I was crazy. Lol.

Harold Camping claims that the world will end in 2011. But he's been wrong before (his last prediction was 1994)

I had some crazy people who hoarded food and I'm sure made aluminum foil hats.

Proof that technology (and its unknown power) still scares us a bit.

Because it was going to be the Second Coming. He claimed that the Bible said that in code and then he said that he miscalculated and that it's really gonna be in 2011. My grandmother listens to his radio show and believes everything he says

I remember the Y2K thing People were scrambling to get their computers ready because it was believed that if the computers thought it was 1900 they would all crash. Since we are so dependent on technology people were saying that a lot things would shut down if this happened. I remember hearing that even signal lights would stop working if they didn't get the computers ready.

I remember it very clearly. I never paid any attention to it. Thought it was all a bunch of, well, you know what. Lol. I did come home and my neighbor was unloading her truck. She backed it up to her house and was unloading all sorts of food and stuff out the back. She asked me what I was doing to prepare. I said "Nothing" and she looked at me like I was crazy for not doing something just in case.

I don't think anyone went crazy around here. We just laughed it off.

I remember the whole Y2K craziness very well. I didn`t see what the big fuss was and just rode it out. Personally i think that it was something Madison Avenue came up with to make even more money (i.e. all those Y2K sales).

I remember the whole Y2K and always joking around about it with my parents. We were at a New Years Eve Party and we lost party for a few minutes before midnight and we joked around that "Y2K" came early.
