TFTNT! May I be added to the list? :)

I actually totally miss the Spice Girls. I was fan of theirs when I was a kid, and over the summer I put a bunch of their songs on my iPod and now I'm a fan all over again. They're songs are so 90s and cheesy but so nostalgic. :sigh:

Oh wow I loved these guys. Me and my friend rotate Spice girls and S club 7 on car journeys to university every week!

It really wasn't until this past year that I realized how wrong the lyrics are in 2 become 1. No wonder my mum kept trying to get me to sing another song.

I had t shirts, badges and looking back I really love my mum a lot more for sitting through that spice world movie of there's!

The spice girls took over the world and my world for sure. Really wish i got to see them on tour. Sporty spice made me feel normal for being a tom boy, something I also blame sporty spice for making me that comfortable with being a tom boy that I have never grown out of now 22 :embarrassment:

omg me too about 2 become 1 i listened to it and finally realised the meaning and went omg the spice girls werent as innocent as i thought. then alot of their songs made more sense to me like naked, who do you think you are and well pretty much most of Spice album i mean im sure some of those werent set out to be that way but after realising with 2 become 1 its hard for me to not see that sort of a meaning to the others through the lyrics.

you've been added :)

Here's a really great documentary video about the SG and how they came to be. There's a lot in this video that I've learned about each of the girls, I had no idea some of them suffered from eating disorders and stuff.

 That song I noticed the "dirty" lyrics back then. There's another song from the 90s, early 90s I think. It's I guess hip-hop/rap. It's "1, 2, 3, 4, Get your woman on the floor." I thought it was dirty back then. But now I realized saying get her on the dance floor. Guess I had a dirty mind even back then.

Thanks for sharing that!

Marki 12-18-2012 02:45 AM

yeah its easy to sway your mind that way. i was the same with that coolio 1,2,3,4 get your woman on the floor song.

i had a watch it was really interesting. i remember watching a doco on them a long time ago after they broke up about their life in forming the spice girls etc. it was alot older though and i dont remember the spice girls talking themselves.

I really want to get tickets to the musical based on their songs :)

livstevi21 12-19-2012 11:37 AM

It is weird, 2 Become 1 was one of my favourite Spice Girls' songs back in the day, I had no idea of the meaning behind till I got older.

Awesome documentary, haven't seen that before! Thanks for the link. :D I'm kinda in the mood to watch the Spice Girls movie now!

I remember singing "Stop" with the hand gestures and everything as a kid... Good times. :D

Yes! I still do that when I hear the song.

livstevi21 12-20-2012 02:54 AM

Me too! I used to know the Stop routine off by heart. :D

I was just reminiscing about when I saw the Spice Girls live at Earls Court in London in December 1999 (seems like a distant memory now :sigh:) and found some videos on youtube. I think they did two at Earls Court on 12th and 14th, I can't remember what date I went, but it was all through the membership club that I got the tickets. But it looks like one of the gigs was filmed, so I was trying to see if I could see myself there. No such luck yet. I was quite far back from the stage...

i have not heard about this what is it exactly?

i watched the stop clip last week and i was sad that i didnt remember the dance anymore but the clip full shows it in the begining.

livstevi21 12-20-2012 03:48 AM

Yeah, this musical is written by Jennifer Saunders and just includes a story of the Spice Girls and performances of their songs. It's supposedly been panned by critics. I'm not gonna bother with it myself. :look:
