Kind of reminds me of people proposing at sport events.
Not sure how I feel about it. Although I think it's a little too much unless you are 200% sure they are going to say yes and not be embarrassed. __________________

^ Right? It's like how can you say no when you have an audience?

Even if it's a private one in front of family and friends. I know a girl that said her ex did that and she felt like she had to say yes. Or when you are together for so long you feel like you can't say no.

I can't imagine proposing to someone you've been with and them turning you down. Or I know some who not necessary say no but don't think it's right timing more like a not right now and the guy takes that has rejection and ends the relationship. I know traditionally when you get engaged you get married within 1-2 years. But now a days you have people that gets engaged and stay engage for years. If you know you would say yes further down the road why not just say yes. A lady I work with technically they are engaged although she refers to him as her husband. But she told me she doesn't want to get married again. Seems odd to get and stay engaged without the intent of getting married. But then again past a certain age and time length together fiancee sounds a lot better than boyfriend/girlfriend. __________________

I know what you mean. Usually there's some indication that the relationship is going there and that both parties see marriage in the future. But all relationships/people are different. But if you propose and that person says no, then you've really misread the signs.
You have some fair points there too. I think it might be hard to recover from that kind of rejection but it you love the person, you'd try to work through it. And you could always say, yes, but not for a while. This discussion reminds me of Scrubs, did you ever watch it? Turk tells JD that he thought Carla and he would be one of those lame couples who stays engaged for years without ever getting married. __________________

No.
I don't think they are lame. Especially if you get engage young sometimes you don't have the money to get married. __________________

^ I think the movie was geared more towards 20 something's than teenagers so that makes sense.

Makes sense. Although it was more teens that went and saw it, at least in my view.
