ouch thats such a long shift how long a break do you get on a shift like that?

I don't really take breaks. But I guess technically I would get 45 mintues. But we don't take breaks on the overnights. Honestly except for a few people, most don't really take breaks. Just enough to get something to eat and smoke breaks.

how come you don't take breaks? my partner works night shift every two weeks but i think his break is 30 mins and its at like 7pm so its basically 3 hours after he started i guess somepeople wouldnt be hungry at that point.

Just the type of job.

Plus a lot of times depending on the night there's not really enough time to take a full break.

ahh ok i would find that really hard i get really hungry when im working. are you feeling better now though has it eased up for you a little?

And of course the same person called out again last night, and once again I stupidly volunteered to stay and worked 15 hours straight.

I was supposed to go to that shift anyways soon. But then went ahead and took her off that shift and put me on for 2 nights.

oh i see. have you been getting some decent sleep? i feel like im tired at the time at the moment even though im clearly getting lots of sleep.

Not really. I've been having trouble sleeping for the last week.

I worked overnight last night. I tried to sleep as long as I could yesterday but couldn't sleep past 1:30pm. Didn't go to bed till probably close to 10am this morning and only slept 5 hours, and I have another overnight shift tonight. I usually love the sun. But today I felt like a vampire and the sun was going to kill me.

I guess it doesn't help last night that I had 2 iced coffees, a cappuccino with extra caffeine, 2 Red bulls, and a 5 hour energy shot. And I guess it really didn't help I had the last red bull and the 5 hour with in the last 1 1/2. By the time I got home I didn't feel good.

That's crazy April! Have you thought about doing something different for work?

I have. But without a degree, not many places I can get more than what I make now. I make really good money considering where I work.

ahh right i see yeah i would probably do the same thing as you. i dont have a degree either though i dont make alot of money either i really do enjoy my job i guess it always hard to find something thats somewhat fun but also pays well.

Honestly even if I could I don't think I would want to go back to school. Not with how the economy is going.
