I was a big Kimba fan as a kid. So when the Lion King came out, I really felt like Disney copied Kimba in alot of ways.

Even Matthew Broderick who voiced Simba, initially thought they were remaking Kimba early on.

The cruelest villains from our favorite childhood movies
Scar, “The Lion King”
Did you know that The Lion King is loosely based on Hamlet, by Shakespeare? Scar, the king’s brother, assassinates Mufasa to steal the throne, then tries to kill his nephew, Simba. The original was released in 1994 and a live-action version this animated film is coming out in July 2019, so a new generation of kids can be traumatized by Scar’s limitless cruelty. Get ready!

Scar is one of the most treacherous Disney villains IMO. He killed his brother and tried to kill his nephew. I still hate that he succeeded in killing Mufasa, that scene still makes me cry.

The 48 Best Movies To Watch On Father's Day
The Lion King (1994)
There are so many Disney movies in which a mother is the key parental figure, but this jungle-set Hamlet adaptation is a heart-wrencher for the tragic loss of Simba's father, Mufasa. It is impossible to watch the stampede scene without fully sobbing—a great Father's Day activity if you ask me. But it won't be a downer all the way through: Hakuna Matata will get you through.

Mufasa was a great father. Like I said, I can't get through Mufasa's death scene without being choked up or crying. Even after all this time it's impossible.
