i think its great that his song writing transcended many genres and many different spans of time.

I'd say the same I only know two from each. I read the next day in the news about this concert so it was eye catching enough to make news

I think this thread should include music videos from the 90s, what do you think?

We actually have a thread for that. Hasn't been active in a while. The idea behind it was for a music video to be posted once a day, anything one that the poster wants. Like a jukebox.

I love that picture
I'm very much into my old skool stuff especially in R+B and Hip Hop (old skool) - some of the new stuff is rubbish __________________

Although my music taste is primarily R+B, HipHop and Motown, I do love some rock and metal especially from the 80s and 90s. Hate pop boybands, pop girlbands, bubblegum pop, watered down R+B and HipHop of the modern era. I find novelty songs highly amusing though

For me, the 90's was mainly about smooth jazz, Michael Bolton, Johnny Hates Jazz, Living in a Box, Kip Winger and Marc Almond. That was all I mainly listened to during that time. After a lot of my favorite metal bands broke up, I wasn't sure what to listen to. I understood why there was a grunge movement, but didn't like most of it at the time (the only new grunge/metal band I got into during that time was Alice in Chains). I was in college and was more focused on what my career would be. Music wasn't as much of a passion as it is now. I rarely, if ever listen to anything new, unless it's from a smooth jazz artist. A lot of the pop music now, I can't listen to. To some, it's good enough and that is fine. For me, I need a lot more and a majority of the music today doesn't give me that. There are very few exceptions (Adele comes to mind. She is a good singer. Loved her "Bond theme" song "Skyfall".), but for the most part, I'm grateful for the music in the 80's and 90's especially.
