From what I remember of the fandom, most of the fans were around my age or a few years younger so they remembered the movie.
 But aside from that group of people, there were probably people who discovered the movie after the tv show. That's the way it usually works at least. Kind of like when you read a book because the movie is coming out. I know I read Little Women after seeing the version that came out in the 90s.__________________

Yeah that's true with Pretty Little Liars, Lying Game, Gossip Girl and maybe Sex in the City there were fans who read the books prior to the series or fans who read the books after the series
