Plays as Vanessa asks Dan for Nate-related advice in 2.04. I’m sure this moment is purely coincidental, but the lyrics are so DV to me.

5. “Is This Sound Okay?” - Coconut Records
Plays while Dan and Vanessa play “I Never” in 2.22. I love this song, and it’s just the kind of music DV would listen to.

6. “Your Way” - Xu Xu Fang
Plays when DV lie on the floor together in 2.22. Who didn’t think it was the beginning of a potential romance between the two?

Another song that probably belongs to RL, but it plays when Dan thinks Vanessa is in love with him in 3.05, so deal with it.

Plays as Dan and Vanessa party in 3.09. C’mon! Leighton ships it, why don’t you?

10. “Boys and Girls” - thecocknbullkid
Plays during D’s memory of his night in 3.10. I love this song, though it kind of reminds me that being in love with Dan was just about the worst thing that ever happened to my poor Vanessa.

11. “Map Of The World” - Monsters of Folk
Plays as Dan leaves Vanessa yet another voicemail in 3.13. Reminds me of the first prolonged pining he practiced, and how I once believed in it.

12. “Out Of The Blue” - Julian Casablancas
Plays when Dan and Vanessa first kiss in 3.14. Such a wonderful song, and an accurate description of the fear that she feels in ruining a friendship for a romance.

Plays as Vanessa decides to finally give in, during 3.14. Bittersweet now, but triumphant in the moment. I mean, “I never wanted anything from you except everything you had and what was left after that, too.” It hurts, I’m just saying.

19. “The Phoenix Alive” - Monarchy

20. “We Are Stars” - The Pierces
Plays when Dan tells Vanessa their friendship is over. An abrupt end to a lifelong friendship, and all because he just had to try to make it more.
