And so begins a new era for this show. (yeah, I totally stole that bit from 1 of NCIS LA's Twitter promotional tweets from 2 years ago!).
Let's see if this will eventually bring in some very long awaited answers. 🤞 __________________

Well, that was certainly a very dramatic ending!
-Can't say I'm too surprised to hear Sam is back to living on a boat. Hearing him say he sailed it all the way to Hawaii kind of reminds me of when Hetty sailed her yacht to Pearl Harbor back in Season 9 when she snuck into Vietnam) -I'm not the only one wondering why there was a map of Morocco in that rental car, right?? Like come on, that just has to be brought up at some point!! __________________

Oh look they're now listing Kian Talan as guest starring instead of starring. I never did get why he was starring before. (actor who plays Jane's son)
I get what they're saying but think Sam doing the interview is a bit odd. He knows what he is talking about & doing though. No Lucy, you killed lunch plans with your jealousy. that's a big leak Is Sam best to give advice on finding a leak source given how long the LA mole storyline went on for? Lucy is still needy... can someone please just feed her? Sam is now lurking under stairs? Ok then... one way to use the character... Ernie: You don't have to do this you know. Sam: Do you have an assistant genius to help you? Ernie: Yes. But she works for the FBI & they don't let her come to play that often. Not a nice ending there... but knew it was a two parter so should've expected it __________________

I had no idea it was a two parter so I was shocked
Not gonna lie, it was a boring episode for a premiere and it was all over the place. I'm trying to give Sam a chance because I know he's here for the long run, but he just seemed so out of place. I didn't watch LA so I don't even know what he does, but he was just everywhere. And kind of super annoying that he had way more screen time than three of the original regulars (Lucy, Kai and Kate) put together. I think Kai only had that one scene? The second Kacy scene was cute with their kiss, but the first scene was so odd. I already saw it because it was one of the sneaks, but I thought there would have been a scene before it with a little more build up of Lucy's jealous of Kai, instead it just seemed so out of place, much like a lot of the episode __________________

Yeah I don't know how much it was advertised as one. I only found out when I set up the threads so put it in the title to try give people a heads up.
I know Sam & still found that he was just there for the sake of it at times. As I said in my post, I don't fully see why he was the one interviewing Jane to say if she could return to work. I think the Kate/Lucy/Kai scene (& even the Kate/Ernie scene) was meant to show how she is building a relationship with everyone on the team & becoming friends with them all. But it wasn't well executed. Maybe they had too much they wanted to show in the one episode? But it just didn't flow as well as it could as it was done so briefly. Maybe it is meant to be the start of something bigger? So Lucy coming to terms that she has to share her co-workers with her girlfriend & sometimes she may visit for them not her? Seems an odd storyline though as Lucy should know that. Kate's job is to go between the two agencies & support NCIS __________________

Maybe things will get better regarding sam as the season goes along. But right now it definitely felt like they just threw him in places just because.
I'm hoping the Kai/Lucy/Kate stuff will flesh out more in the next episode. Like you said, it wasn't well executed. It kind of just came out of nowhere, especially since we didn't see anything before hand. But they really are using Lucy as the comedic relief __________________
