thanks for the thread - (still haven't watched the last episode:blush:)

Wonder what happened to Palmer. But if Gibbs is going to help him, he will be good:)

Thanks for the thread!

Sounds like a good episode :)

Was not expecting that!

the case was ok, I was a little bit bored with it though at times.

Well that was a shocker. It was not about McGee first day back. They fastforward a whole year... Or nearly a year.

We are now in pandemic times.

And yeah,

Poor Jimmy.

Love the little Nick and Ellie moments. But it was odd to go from last week, then flip it to following pandemic lives of the show.

It was unexpected, yes...

Agreed with everything that you two said

And I would think seeing Nick's apartment. Might mean they might go there. Although it is strange to go from last episode, where they are flirting the lines, and to know nothing happened.

Even if they went directly into co-vid times. Nick's apartment was quite modern.

About

My immediate thought is

Poor Jimmy. I did like that we were able to see him and Ducky. Just wish this was not a cruel time, and they could only do it via computer.

Gibbs would know how to deal with it. It was a powerful scene.

shinebrighterxx 02-10-2021 06:36 PM

10 months is quite a jump :look: I'm surprised they went that far ahead... but I guess the show has to catch up to present time somehow...

Jasper1975 02-10-2021 06:41 PM

Yup. Given they had that storyline, to start the season. They probably wanted to get the show to current days. Instead of staying in the past. Makes it easier to be current.

Still it was a odd transition to go from the Ellie and Nick storyline to now.

shinebrighterxx 02-10-2021 06:53 PM

I presumed they would've just jumped to the end of last season, not jumped again. But jumping again means that they can skip over covid hitting so each show can tell a different story when it comes to covid.

I haven't seen the previous episode yet but it does seem odd to me for them. I guess covid hit so they were preoccupied & didn't face their feelings yet? Its better than them saying they got together in the time jump but still a shame to seem to be setting something up & then say nothing happened

In response to what you were saying about Delilah:
I don't think Delilah was ever a consideration. Would be a bit wrong to continue to target McGee after they've already hurt him this season. Given we haven't seen Breena in years & the actress hasn't actually done any acting work since we last saw her either. It was the easiest character to write out. Meanwhile we do still see Delilah so I don't think they would've written her out unless Margo wanted to or was happy to go for the storyline.

Jasper1975 02-10-2021 07:58 PM

Not that I wanted it to be Delilah. I like her and I like her and Tim together. It was the easy way to show the cruel nature of the virus and hit it home for the team. And Jimmy and Gibbs have had interactions over the years that have led to some powerful scenes. Like when the adoption went south, and Jimmy was second guessing. Gibbs got through to him.

NCIS does not have a good history with spouses of the cast members. It would be a big loss for it to be her, but the show wanted to make a point but also have not have it dealt with such a major way.

Whether we see Delilah, has not shown to be a deterrant in the past. We saw Jackie and we saw Diane. This was supposed to be a shocker, but not a major one...

it would have been if it had been someone else.

All the NCIS seems to be doing it differently. New Orleans really hit it deeply. LA is very different. So it makes sense NCIS to be treating as something they have to deal with, but going by their every day business (so far).

We would have done a jump eventually. But it was such a big one. They might have better served doing a transition episode or something. Then just jumping right into 10 months later...

But I did like the show was just a normal episode. It was normal. Just with obvious new protocols, and changes up in the squad room or interrogation.

shinebrighterxx 02-10-2021 08:07 PM

I think there were reasons why Jackie & Diane were killed off. Even if it was simply to progress storylines for main characters. But I have a feeling there was more to it at least when it came to Jackie. All I was saying was that Delilah doesn't make sense for right now, while Breena was a completely logical choice. It also was an easy choice as that character already didn't get seen. To achieve what they wanted to do Breena would be the only choice. I don't think they would've considered Delilah or if they did it would've only been very briefly.

See I disagree. I presumed they would've moved into covid & the remainder of the season just would've represented 2020 & maybe move into 2021 by the end of it. We would've ended up in the end of 2021 by S19, even if it was a few episodes in. So lots of little jumps not a major 10 month one. We knew that they had at least reached March 2020 by ep5 & the next jump I would've expected to go to say July 2020 or at most September 2020 . That's just me & honestly I don't mind what they want to do, it'll be entertaining regardless  It just surprises me they chose to jump a whole 10 months ahead

Jasper1975 02-10-2021 08:25 PM

I agree. Delilah does not make sense and I hope it does not happen at all. We have seen her, but it would be a big loss and if it were to be done. It would be because of some old enemy or something that was set up, like it was with Diane or a major storyline that is set up with like with Jackie because also of taking out Ziva's father.

Not that NCIS does not shock us occasionally. But in the case, it made sense to show how cruel the virus was. To show it has happened in the recent past, so he's trying to adjust and move on.

And the weight on it being a new world.

The fact Ducky could not be there except on video, and he needed to see him in that scene.

It just was a surprise because it was so sudden.

But then that is NCIS.
