It really is cool that Sean plays younger Gibbs  makes sense having it be Mark's son

Loved the episode's promo! It sure promises to be a good 400th episode :yay:

crash landing 11-21-2020 01:42 PM

Wonder if it'll be all in the past :bubble: like a pause from the Tobias storyline :bubble:

florerr 11-21-2020 01:50 PM

Based on the promo - it's past & present at the same time... ;)

crash landing 11-21-2020 08:42 PM

Oh cool  haven't seen any promo for it :bubble:

florerr 11-22-2020 02:21 AM

crash landing 11-25-2020 08:20 AM

I think I had one set to record the episodes but than must have deleted it when I watched the premiere live :goof: probably wanted to watch last night too but got too engrossed in a movie binge

I'll watch this probably this afternoon :) or not cause having a blah day

nuwanda 11-25-2020 10:14 AM

Really liked that episode.

not because of the case though. It was more because of the Gibbs/Ducky story. Both "young characters" did a great job. It was nice to see how they met, that they started that friendship in those early days and kept it going until now.
Also liked how McGee tried "to invite or not invite" Gibbbs to going out for drinks.
Glad that Gibbs called in the end to join them.

florerr 11-25-2020 01:43 PM

This was an amazing episode! And truly a special one...

With connecting past & present, and not just focusing on Ducky & Gibbs, but also including the rest of the team... :sigh:

... And I also loved how they played with the distances, you couldn't tell the scenes were filmed with covid... I wish NCIS LA would take more of their approach...

Jasper1975 11-25-2020 04:03 PM

Happy 400 episodes NCIS. Excellent episode. Loved seeing young Gibbs and Ducky again, and this time with their meeting...

Yeah, you would not know this was filmed during covid. Even if the episodes are supposed to be pre-covid. But you would know it. You could have sworn you would have watched an old episode.

I always thought they could make it work since they spend so much time at their desk, and they are naturally far away from each other. And then how you frame the shot. And in the morque. They are always with the table between them anyways...

Well done. I did think like Ducky that maybe Gibbs was miffed because it meant that going back to Shannon, meant they eventually he would lose her...And if he had stayed away. She might not have died.

But loved that he said, he will treasure that he got to spend time with her and Kelly.

Loved the little nods to the boat. Young Gibbs commenting of how the boat was in the bottle "How do you get it out of there"

When one of the questions we have had all these years is how Gibbs gets his boat out of the basement when it's done.

And I hope we will find out some day.

florerr 11-26-2020 02:42 PM

I'd like to know that too...

Loved all the little references, and how they wrote their first meeting tying it nicely with the already existing NCIS history :)

maplezbear 11-29-2020 10:44 AM

Loved the episode. It was nice to learn about Gibbs and Ducky and how far back their friendship goes and how it all started.

shinebrighterxx 12-02-2020 02:11 PM

A storm here on Tuesday night made me recording play up :bawl: hope this doesn't keep up...

Gibbs is in the trunk?

McGee's anniversary :sigh: So that means he decided to be an agent two or three years before the show started? Three I'm guessing since this would be set in 2019...

The wedding anniversary would explain Gibbs being over anniversaries

oo NCIS being painted... so weird not seeing the orange walls

Love how Gibbs' house was really Ducky's house first

McGee enjoying cutting into the wall

i was wondering if the M.E. was Dr Magnus who we'd met previously. Nice that Gibbs suggested that Ducky join NCIS :) Guess eventually Ducky did get to solve the case by working at NCIS

Ducky talking Gibbs into going back to Shannon  very fitting
I presume that when Gibbs & Ducky cross paths again though Gibbs lies about Shannon? As Ducky didn't know about Shannon before... or we are meant to forget what they've already told us... it is also possible Ducky played dumb in respect for Gibbs, even when Jenny discovered the truth

Glad Gibbs decides to go out with the team in the end :). That must've been one of the most awkward calls he's made

(side note: the end of the ep tells me new NCIS returns in two week so that means despite it being no-ratings period here they will still air all three eps that air this year in the US which is nice)

Agreed with the comments above about the boat in the bottle. Was thinking the same when I saw that bit

florerr 12-02-2020 02:20 PM

Either Ducky didn't want to say anything about Shannon, or possible they have simply lost in touch and by the time they re-met when Gibbs joined NIS, he didn't ask him about Shannon...

I mean Ducky is a gentleman, and before internet it wasn't that easy to keep in touch :look:

Either way I loved the episode, and what they did with their first meeting...

And, yes, it was strange to see the office without the ugly orange... Wonder if we're going to get a new painting now that McGee "destroyed" the wall

shinebrighterxx 12-03-2020 01:14 AM

I still think they would've realised who each other was even if they never kept in touch. I highly doubt they made enough of an impact on each other that they would've keep in touch. But still when they met again there should've been a memory, especially given its Ducky. He always has stories to tell :P

I never said anything about not liking it, simply that they are still unfortunately possibly contradicting what they've already told us

I doubt they'll ever get rid of the orange :P

florerr 12-03-2020 01:21 AM

Ducky could have recognized Gibbs, but decided to stay silent, if Gibbs didn't seem to recognize him :P (As he may have put everything related to Shannon into the back of his mind, never to bring up again... :look: )

I don't mind them contradicting themselves every now and then... It's been on air since forever, and they're still more consistent with their stories than many of the other shows

crash landing 12-08-2020 10:55 AM

2 weeks later :thud: watching the 400th :thud:

Oh Shannon's case :thud: or not considering Gibbs was in the trunk  huh?

Oh McGee saying it was wedding anniversary for Gibbs/Shannon last week

Sean really looks great as younger!Gibbs :sigh: oh Shannon mention :thud: just as a gf

DUCKY  :in_love: just look at him

and the first introduction of the boys :sigh:

Ducky at the office

Beautiful scenes both past/present relating to Ducky/Gibbs :sigh:

McGee joy :lmao: at the wall :lmao:

Steak grilling on the fireplace :yay: having gotten it from his father Jackson :sigh:

Oh :sigh: Gibbs being the one to steer Ducky to being an ME :sigh:

Oh their conversation about Shannon :bawl: than Gibbs saying he doesn't blame Ducky for his heartache relating to Shannon/Kelly :bawl:

Love them ending the episode having Gibbs deciding to join the team for drinks  it was pretty cute

Overall I don't think it was a big "contradicting" this case was probably 10-20 years before them meeting again after Shannon/Kelly were dead  so its something I personally am able to forgive/overlook

florerr 12-08-2020 02:29 PM

Agreed

This was a great milestone episode, and it was amazing to see Young Ducky & Gibbs within the same episode :sigh:

crash landing 12-08-2020 02:32 PM

Yes  the actor of Younger!Ducky is great plus Sean is great as Younger!Gibbs considering being son to Mark
