Gibbs & Vance tend to have fun banter. And yes Vance has a few movie references, but they're more light hearted...

(With Tony movie references are like a nervous habit, the more stressed out or excited he is the more movie references he makes... )

Edited: He's a good director because he expects the team, and especially Gibbs, to go behind his back every once in a while

6x18 - Knockout is a fun episode.. It's the episode where Vance tries to go behind Gibbs' back with no luck what so ever Loved how Gibbs showed up before his house in his yellow muscle car

Plus I found it hilarious that the writers wrote a boxing background to Vance because of the whole "Rocky" thing going on

Knockout is fun I'm also glad that they showed a history for Vance early on. It is good to get to know him & hopefully it helped fans like him

9x19 was a hard episode for Leon related to his brother-in-law where it felt like Leon stepped up as a father figure to Michael

A petty officer was killed and Vance's brother-in-law said he was innocent than we learnt about a poker game out of a pizza place Vance 's brother-in-law killed the petty office as an accident/self-defense
