I am surprised. Although this would be the end of the traditional seven year contract. Emily came on in 2013, I will miss her. She grew with the role. I sorta hope they are playing with us, because of the storyline.
But then the show has given many surprises this year. So, who knows. If she is gone, I'll miss her. __________________

I'm going to miss her, if it's true...
 But the show must go on... And I watched NCIS before Ellie, and will watch it after her too, if it's the same high quality story-telling as always.  ... And at least she can come back anytime she wants too... __________________

I wish that we could have had more built up in terms of her leaving the show.
But I guess Covid robbed us of at least 10 episodes of s17 & s18, where we could have seen more of Bishop struggling with decisions... __________________

It seems odd to me that she is just gone. It sounded like the start of an arc in the episode description not a way to write someone out. Maybe it was a last minute decision? But again I would have liked to see her do something like Cote did to give her more of an exit & closure time. But maybe the episode gives more closure that I expect. But from the description it sounded like an arc that would go at least into the season premiere if not the first half of the next season

Besides her insta post, I haven't seen any article with her confirming the exit...
... Until s19 doesn't start in September, we won't know for sure that she's not coming back... But it's better to prepare for it being true...  __________________
