This is from the S15 special feature 'NCIS: Inside Season 15' -
Sean: McGee's relationship with Abby over the years has been a very complex one, a very positive one. They've always had a special love for each other. Not so much here in the later seasons, but throughout a lot of the show there's always had a tinge of jealousy when the other one's dating someone else. It's all about just being protective of each other. McGee acts a little different around Abby than he does normally. McGee's looser & he feels a little more comfortable with her. Pauley: Oh, Abby & McGee. It's just so special. It's always been special since the beginning. And so is the relationship between Sean & Pauley. After their relationship was over, they really became each other's biggest cheerleaders. And that love that you see between Abby & McGee is absolutely also a reflection of the love between Pauley & Sean Murray. __________________

I feel Sean liked McAbby more than Pauley sometimes when they speak but still wonderful to have them speak about it & love that their relationship onscreen was reflective of their friendship
