Poppycock. While the nature of the Oscars might seem a little stuffy. (Like honoring the best short film that can make you cry in less than one minute) I don't think the evening necessarily has to be. In fact, hosts are chosen to alleviate some of that stuffiness. I wouldn't describe any of them as "stuffy."

It's a tough gig. You have to be able to gently tease without insulting. That's something a lot of the hard core comedians had trouble with.

Neil, OTOH, I think has the perfect tone. I could see him easily being the best host the show has had since Billy Crystal and a multiple time hoster.

I love the title!

I agree that Neil would be perfect for the Oscars. I don't dislike it or anything, it's just not my favourite. I'm much more of a TV whore so the Emmys are my thing.

Upfronts week is as important to me as transfer deadline day and football is my world! So that must mean TV is my world also

Neil hosting the Emmys or the Oscars would be fine with me. If we can watch TV Land for him, we can watch anything!

I prefer the Emmys too. But The Oscars are more prestigious. If you nail the Oscars, you're hailed as a conquering hero.

I missed the TV Land Awards.

This is why I think he should do the Emmys first. The Oscars are a step up and want him to have done everything. He needs to work his way right to the top, without skipping any!

Well Jackman didn't do the Oscars. And some of the Oscar hosts didn't do the stepping stones either.

But yes, I would like him to make his way up the ranks and do the Emmys and then Oscars. I think he has a god shot at the Emmys this year - I just have a feeling.

And he needs to do the Emmys to get the trifecta of Emmy hosting gigs! Creative Arts Emmys, Primetime Emmy nomination announcements and then the actual Primetime Emmys themselves!

That's why I think they are in his reach! This is like the epic year of hosting for him, TV Land, World Magic and he's gotten great reviews for the Tonys. Plus they loved him as nominations announcer and Creative Emmys host, so naturally they might want him to come back and host the Emmys proper. Also - HIMYM has gotten much more attention this year I think with critics and ratings, plus the Emmys hosts last year were a disaster! I think all of that points to NPH being a really good bet - if the producers see it.
