Kate was the perfect choice for Marianne. I have seen the BBC adaptation, which was also very good. And the actress that played Marianne in that one, mimicked Kate in some scenes.

Kate's Oscar nomination was deserved.

I just wish she would have won that year. She so deserved it! I haven't seen the BBC version, but Kate made that role her own, imo. Marianne is my favorite character in the movie because she's so ballsy, especially considering the time she was in. I guess the same could be said about most of her portrayals, but I'll leave that for those threads.

Mira Sorvino for a movie I can't remember. I think it was a Woody Allen film. She played a prostitute, I think.

Yeah, Marianne was the perfect choice for Kate, especially the young Kate. But I think Kate now can manage to handle pretty much every kind of characters
