A Little Chaos Thread #1: It's Kate with Alan Rickman all over again

Welcome to the first A Little Chaos thread!

Quote:
Little Chaos Synopsis

A female landscape-gardener is awarded the esteemed assignment to construct the grand gardens at Versaillers, a gilt-edged position which thrusts her to the very centre of the court of King Louis XIV. Can she overcome the challenges of this new and complex world, and the ghosts of her own past tragedy, to secure a future with the man she loves?

Madame Sabine De Barra (Winslet) is an unlikely candidate for the landscape architect of the still-to-be-completed palace of Versailles. She has little time for the classical ordered designs of the man who hires her; the famous architect Le Notre. However, as she works on her creation, she finds herself drawn to the enigmatic Le Notre and forced to negotiate the perilous rivalries and intricate etiquette of the court of King Louis XIV. But Sabine is made of strong stuff; her honesty and compassionate nature help to overcome both the challenges of her newfound popularity, and an unspeakable tragedy from her past, to win the favour of the Sun King and the heart of Le Notre.

Alan Rickman directs Kate Winslet and Matthias Schoenaerts in this sumptuous period romance.

For a reason, we never got any other news on that movie... There were a few pictures and gifs here and there, but no actual videos... Hope everything's alright there...

“A Little Chaos” To Close Toronto International Film Festival

Kate Winslet’s latest role in A Little Chaos is to close the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival.
The period drama, directed by Alan Rickman, stars the Oscar-winning actress as a Palace of Versailles landscaper. It will have its gala premiere in the Canadian city on September 14.

“It is a great privilege for A Little Chaos to have its world premiere in Toronto and for it to be given the festival’s closing night gala, but it is also a very personal pleasure,” Alan said.

“I have filmed in the city, visited often, and some of my closest friends live there. It will be like coming home.”
Cameron Bailey, the festival’s artistic director, added: “A Little Chaos is the perfect closing night film – it transports audiences to another time, another place, full of beauty, complexity, rivalry, politics and romance.”
Toronto’s slate, which includes 59 galas and special presentations, features performances from Benedict Cumberbatch, Denzel Washington, Reese Witherspoon and Robert Downey Jr, as well as films from directors including Chris Rock, Noah Baumbach and Jon Stewart, making his directorial debut.

Benedict’s portrayal of World War II code-breaker Alan Turing in The Imitation Game, to open the London Film Festival in October, will be shown, alongside o ther British offerings including Mike Leigh’s Mr Turner and Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory Of Everything, featuring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones.

Lone Scherfig’s The Riot Club, starring Jessica Brown Findlay and Douglas Booth, and Miss Julie – the big-screen adaptation of August Strindberg’s play starring Colin Farrell and Jessica Chastain – will also have their premieres at the Canadian festival.

The Equalizer, which reunites Denzel with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, and Cake with Jennifer Aniston will also be shown.

The Toronto International Film Festival, now in its 39th year, runs from September 4 to 14.

Thanks for the info and links. It was nice to see a clip.

I like this bit about Kate in the interview.

Quote:
Did you enjoy directing Kate Winslet?

We worked together when she was 19 in Sense and Sensibility. It was like meeting a whole new person. Kate is someone who arrives incredibly prepared, free and non-judgmental. She is a phenomenal craftsperson.

This line gives me goosebumps... Imagine, they reunited again after 20 years and yet seems like very little has changed When I looked at that clip, I saw Marianne and Brandon

You can pretend that's them in the future. (I didn't even think of what age Kate was in S&S, she was so young.)

I wouldn't mind seeing more clips in the future.
