She scored her first professional gig at 11, dancing opposite the Honey Monster in a commercial for a kids' cereal. She started acting lessons around the same time, which led to formal training at a performing arts high school. Over the next few years she appeared on stage regularly and landed a few bit parts in sitcoms. Her first big break came at age 17, when she was cast as an obsessive adolescent in Heavenly Creatures (1994). The film, based on the true story of two fantasy-gripped girls who commit a brutal murder, received modest distribution but was roundly praised by critics. The role that transformed Winslet from art house attraction to international star was Rose DeWitt Bukater, the passionate, rosy-cheeked aristocrat in James Cameron's Titanic (1997). Young girls the world over both idolized and identified with Winslet, swooning over all that face time opposite heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio and noting her refreshingly healthy, un-emaciated physique. Winslet's performance also garnered a Best Actress nomination, making her the youngest actress to ever receive two Academy nods. After the swell of unexpected attention surrounding Titanic (1997), Winslet was eager to retreat into independent projects. Rumor has it that she turned down the lead roles in both Shakespeare in Love (1998) and Anna and the King (1999) in order to play adventurous soul searchers in Hideous Kinky (1998) and Holy Smoke (1999). The former cast her as a young single mother traveling through 1960s Morocco with her daughters in tow; the latter, as a zealous follower of a guru tricked into a "deprogramming" session in the Australian outback. The next year found her back in period dress as the Marquis de Sade's chambermaid and accomplice in Quills (2000). Kate holds the distinction of being the youngest actor ever honored with four Academy Award nominations (she received her fourth at age 29.) Off camera, Winslet is known for her mischievous pranks and familial devotion. She has two sisters, Anna Winslet and Beth Winslet (both actresses), and a brother, Joss. In 1998, she married Jim Threapleton, whom she met on the set of Hideous Kinky (1998); the pair had a daughter, Mia, in October of 2000. They divorced in 2001. She later married director Sam Mendes in 2003 and has since given birth to their son Joe. Made by Elizabeth_88 the r e a s o n s 1. Because she's the reason we're all here. 2. Because shes the best actress of her generation. 3. Because she was one of Time Magazine's Most Influential People 4. Because she was voted as the "Ultimate Natural Beauty." 5. B/C she was voted as the "Ultimate Natural Beauty, beating out Audrey Hepburn, Angelina Jolie & Scarlett Johansson. 6. Because EW loves Kate so much they would watch her in anything and so would we 7. Because she is a great example of an amazing woman. 8. Because we love her sense of humour 9. Because we love her British accent. 10. Because she finally got her well-deserved Oscar. Art by Myra. Made by *Fatima* the q u o t e s I struggle for what I believe in. Life is short, it’s impossible to repeat something; you have to take advantage of things when you can reach them. I’ve never had a career agenda, as such. I just make the films I want to make. I wanted to make Titanic because I loved the script and I loved the character. If other people agree, that’s fine by me I am incredibly passionate about my life, I am absolutely unable to hide any emotion. If I wrote a book, I’d have to call it ‘P is for Passion’. I don’t go in for anything halfway. My feelings about things are instant, on the spot. And my heart is always, always on my sleeve. Meeting Sam has made an amazing different to my life in all the obvious ways, but in terms of work he has been really brilliant at saying, ‘Don’t feel so guilty about the kids; I’ll be at home’.” It’s really been an amazing last couple of years. Thankfully, I have a husband who literally takes my breath away every day, he’s just so ****ing great. They [her parents] were old hippies. We used to go to the Reading rock festival and run around with no shoes on Plastic surgery and breast implants are fine for people who want that, if it makes them feel better about who they are. But, it makes these people, actors especially, fantasy figures for a fantasy world. Acting is about being real, being honest. It’s funny when someone says to you ‘You’re hot’ and all that, because I don’t think of it in that way. When I was in India, one of my ankles was extremely swollen because it had been bittten by some bug. Well, I was standing in the water, watching this festival that celebrates the god Shiva. Five minutes later, my ankle wasn’t swollen anymore. I’m absolutely serious. I spent my life being told I have these fantastic child-bearing hips, so I breezed through this pregnancy, merrily eating and gaining 70 pounds, and came to the birth just very excited and really looking forward to it. I never thought about a Cesarean section. It just didn’t occur to me. After 37 hours, they came and said, ‘We’re going to have to induce you.’ And even that didn’t work! And then the C-section. I was the girl who never got the boys. I was the chubby one who never got asked to dance at the disco and would end up slow-dancing with a mate in my pink puffball skirt. Depends on the character. Let me tell you, The Reader was not glamorous for me in terms of body-hair maintenance. I had to grow it in, because you can’t have a landing strip in 1950, you know? And then because of years of waxing, as all of us girls know, it doesn’t come back quite the way it used to. They even made me a merkin because they were so concerned that I might not be able to grow enough. I said, 'Guys, I am going to have to draw the line at a pubic wig. But you can shoot my snatch up close and personal. Made by Nil on k a t e “As actors, we get rewarded for doing things that are our stock in trade: playing someone with a handicap or changing your gender or playing someone like Roosevelt. But what Kate’s done with this woman [Sarah, her character in Little Children] is make tiny, tiny brushstrokes that run the emotional gamut.” Todd Field “She takes it very seriously but also remains very calm and good-natured. She’s not all about showing you how hard it is. When Kate’s on screen, her acting’s effortless and she’s absolutely dedicated to making it as real as possible.” Jude Law “Kate was the most macho person out trying, braving temperatures, wanting to be all to Method, wanting to feel the cold. The funniest announcement would come over the bullhorn: James Cameron would say, ‘Leo, run more like Kate! Kate, run more like Leo!’” Billy Zane “Kate has a terrifically powerful imagination,so powerful, it’s dangerous. When you engage the way she does, it’s a bit scary. It’s not like, ‘I remember when my pet tortoise died…’” Kenneth Branagh She's wonderful to watch, unbelievable, because you sometimes don't know what she's doing when you're in the scene with her and then, you look at it later and she knows what's going to come off and how it's going to look. It's beautiful. Jim Carrey I also think Kate Winslet is one of the best actresses that ever lived, so I would be honoured to work with her. Quentin Tarantino Kate Winslet, her career is absolutely one I look up to, she's just fearless. Katherine Heigl I just love Kate. I think she is just so great and I’d really love to work with her. Reese Witherspoon I would steal Kate Winslet’s roles. All her roles. Don’t talk to me about it because she can do no wrong in my eyes. Not only is she the most amazing actress in the entire world, she’s nude in a lot of her films which shows she’s just fearless. Her choices are impeccable. She literally can do anything. If she can just give me two of her roles, I’d be happy. Eva Mendes __________________

So, I made this awhile back, but I suppose I forgot to share. Anyway, I had seen some people on tumblr making these skull edits. Thought I'd give it a go and try something different

Love it! Very neat effect/look and it's perfect since Halloween is next month. I like that you chose to use a photo with an all black background, fitting.
