I've read both book and movie, so saw the differences the movie made to the book. Book is darker than the movie.

I liked the movie better, because the book is a very hard book to adapt to screen and Winterbottom did it fabulously.

The ending of the movie didn't go to the full extent in the book (for example: movie ends about a chapter or two from the end of the book), hence why the book is even more dark.
