I watched that Daily Show online last night.

It was so funny! Jon Stewart really applauded Alec's ability to play both the comedic and the serious characters, which was cool to see.

Yay for Alec getting nominated for an Emmy!

Not really a surprise, since he's been nominated for the past two years, but still a good thing to see.

I just watched the CD interview too. It was great. I loved how Jon Stewart complimented Alec Baldwin.

I don't know what it is, but I really like it when people actually compliment Alec. Too often, people hear "Alec Baldwin" and they automatically go to all of his issues (of which there are many that I also don't really like- the voicemail to his daughter comes to mind) and they can't see that he really is a good actor. He might not be the best person sometimes, but he's quite a quality actor, so I like it when people recognize that.

I honestly can't see Alec B. hurting anyone. He just seems like one of those people who just doesn't think before he speaks or acts. And unfortunately, that has gotten him into trouble.

As for the voicemail thing, I'm still horrified that it got leaked out to the public. It was a private matter and should have stayed between Alec, his daughter, and the people working on the custody case.

To be honest, that's sort of how I knew him before I started watching 30 Rock.

I completely agree with everything you said. I mean, I'm not crazy to hear about stuff like that voicemail, but I agree that that should have been kept a private issue. I feel like that's also part of his problem is that his private moments of stupidity (or craziness, or whatever you want to call it) are made public. We all have our moments where we say or do things that we haven't thought through and that we regret later, and Alec's moments always seem to end up being made public. That combined with what you said about him acting before he thinks makes a bad combination for him, which is really unfortunate.

I'm not judging Alec for his private life, as long as he doesn't harm people. You could say that phone call was pretty harsh but do we know the whole story? He was probably upset when he made that call. If his daughter is able to forgive him it shouldn't be such a big deal in the media anymore.

I think people have gotten over it or forgotten it. I'm sure Alec is grateful for the Christian Bale rant.

Haha, I think he is. He mentioned that in his February SNL monologue, actually. It was very funny.

So as I said in the Tina/Liz thread, I only watch late night TV the day after when I realize that someone I like was on last night. Such an occurrence happened today. Alec was on Jimmy Fallon last night! I don't know if the videos on NBC.com work for people outside the US (sorry Ele!), but give it a try and see how it works. His interview is broken up into three parts, but it's all quite funny. He does a Tracy Morgan impression that is just hilarious.
