It's Daniel that's on IACGMOOH right?

Well, 30 Rock had MILF Island. Maybe they can visit the set on the show.

Jack going on a show like that would be hilarious! I would definitely love to watch that. And, yep, it's Daniel on IACGMOOH.

My Sister's Keeper comes out in the US this Friday! I really want to go see it, so I'm crossing my fingers I can find some time to do so.

I can't wait for that. I'm going to try to see it sometime next week. I liked the novel a lot, so I'm looking foward to it. I heard they changed the ending though. Which I don't mind b/c I didn't love the book's ending.

It's going to be interesting to see Alec Baldwin play another character.

Yeah, I loved the book, but I just get the feeling I'm going to be disappointed by the movie. I mean, the movie is never as good as the book, though I would like it if they changed the ending. It's going to be so weird to see Alec playing a different character, though from what i remember of Campbell Alexander in the book, he's not terribly different from Jack. Different profession, but I think he's got a pretty similar temperament, from what I remember. It should still be fun to see Alec playing him, though.

Here's a reveiw from the avclub.com

Quote:
Ushers should prepare themselves to get out the mops for My Sister’s Keeper, as small rivulets of tears coalesce into a Mississippi Delta at the bottom of the theater after each showing. But director Nick Cassavetes, who soaked his share of hankies with the 2004 sleeper hit The Notebook, doesn’t know the difference between good tears and bad ones. He just greedily draws them out of a scenario so bleak and heart-wrenching that it needs no further emphasis, let alone the dirgey cover of “Girls Just Want To Have Fun.” Based on Jodi Picoult’s bestseller, the film includes a multitude of combustible elements: a little girl with leukemia, another little girl genetically manipulated to be a “donor child,” a dyslexic boy so neglected that he hangs out at night on Hollywood Boulevard, a mother whose unwavering devotion to one daughter threatens to blow a hole through her family like a wrecking ball. The list goes on.

A subtler filmmaker might have undercut the emotions a little, but Cassavetes learned just one thing about melodrama from his father John, and that’s to go heavy on the throttle. The real tragedy is that he gets several terrific performances from his actors, including a career-best Cameron Diaz as a rampaging super-mom who refuses to give up on her cancer-stricken daughter (Sofia Vassilieva), even if it means neglecting her husband (Jason Patric) and her other two children. In fact, her youngest daughter (Abigail Breslin) was conceived as a vessel for compatible, harvestable parts, like bone marrow and a kidney. At age 11, Breslin hires a lawyer (Alec Baldwin, bringing rare, precious comic relief) to win control over her own body.

At its core, My Sister’s Keeper wrestles with a gratifyingly complex situation: Breslin’s lawsuit is both selfish and righteous, as is her mother’s expectation of involuntary sacrifice from one daughter to save the other. But the film keeps piling on the tear-jerking pathos, from a judge (Joan Cusack, also excellent) whose 12-year-old daughter was recently killed by a drunk driver to a doe-eyed romance between two terminal cancer cases. It would take a heart of stone not to be affected by My Sister’s Keeper, but the film’s unceasing manipulation has a Medusa effect on the organ.

Very interesting review. Sounds like it should be good, though it seems like, while the reviewer does like some things about the movie, it might be a little too much of a tear-jerker. I love those kinds of movies, though, so I really can't wait to go see it now.

I think they gave it a C- overall.

I'm kind of nervous b/c I don't like crying at movies, but I'll be brave and see this one.

It's interesting. I do Yahoo as my homepage, and I was checking out the reviews on Yahoo. The critics all gave it a combined average of a C, but the Yahoo users gave it an overall A. So, I don't know. We'll have to see.

It looked decent from the trailer. I'm hoping it does well.

I saw My Sister's Keeper this weekend! It was very interesting. I'm not quite sure how I felt about it. Alec, along with all of the other actors, did extremely well in their roles. The superb acting was definitely the highlight of the movie. My problem was that they really didn't develop any of the characters except for the mother, Sara, (Cameron Diaz) and Anna (Abigail Breslin). From someone who has read the book, I was really sad because a lot of my favorite supporting characters (Campbell Alexander, the brother Jesse, the father Brian) were really poorly developed. That was my main complaint with the movie.

Specifically as an Alec fan, though, he did really well. His character was funny, and it wasn't too jarring to see him as someone who wasn't Jack. He still wore a suit the whole time, and his humor was the same dry humor as Jack's. So as far as Alec goes, he was great. I was just disappointed with the writers' portrayal of his character.

Thanks for your review Lynn. One interesting thing in the book was how it was told from everybody's POV.

I'm not sure if I'll get a chance to see it. It's playing downtown, but I'm not sure I'll get the time. I hope it stays in the theaters for at least one more week or two.

I'm sure it will still be around for a while. I mean, it wasn't awful, and it's still the kind of movie that people would want to see. If you don't get a chance to see it before it leaves theaters, though, I wouldn't sweat it. You won't be missing out on much to wait to rent the DVD.

Thanks for the reviews, I'll have to watch that movie on my own. I bet it will take ages to be published here.

Yeah, DVDs come out pretty fast these days. But I'd still like to catch it in the theater.
