| Elite Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah, I heard that. I noticed that each one has a symbol. Zod has the "Z" symbol and each of the soldiers has a different symbol. It'll be interesting to see their significance. Okay, this is long overdue I resisted the urge to read reviews of the episode before I wrote mine, so I’ll finally get a chance to do that now Okay, here we go.As most of you already said, this was the best premiere ever. The writing was great and I was actually interested in watching every single scene. I have to say that the music was great too. Lois: I’ve missed seeing her on my screen! She’s as awesome as ever from the minute she comes in to her last scene. She comes back, having no recollection of what has happened to her and almost immediately gets into a fight with the ninja chick. I have to say that fight was awesome. Lois held her own and was throwing strong punches throughout. After the train derails and is set down by the Blur, she immediately steps out and finds the \S/ symbol. She’s not in the hospital for two minutes and she’s already up on her feet. Even after coming back from the future with no idea what happened, having a fight, and surviving a train crash, she still looks good while wearing a hospital gown She tells Chloe the last thing she remembered was fighting with Tess in the DP. Then remembers that the RBB told her he’d save her cousin and she asked Chloe if it were him who helped her get away from Davis but then she notices it’s almost midnight, and thinking it’s still that day 3 weeks ago, she rushes off to meet the Blur. Durance played that scene to perfection, the way she showed Lois’ desperation for being late and wanting the Blur to trust her. The way her voice cracked and her expressions were perfect. I felt so bad for Lois in that moment and how she was so desperate to know where he is. She was going through such a tough time trying to put the pieces together ever since she found herself on that train with a ninja chick on her trail. To do that, she goes back to the train, trying to find clues. She leaves a message for Oliver since he’s been MIA. Enter Corben. Oh Lo, I love her line about this "not even hitting the radar." She thinks he’s a cop, and he doesn’t let her know otherwise. She finds out she’s been missing for 3 weeks … one more missing piece in the puzzle. A real cop shows up and Corben kisses Lois as a cover. She pushes him away and stomps on his foot. The crunching sound actually made me wince, you go girl! I love the way she turned around and walked away. I liked that she found Ollie eventhough he “vanished off the grid.” She is one to get her hands dirty and goes in the middle of the action. Her two scenes with Ollie were great. She totally got into the ring girl pretense, and that outfit totally rocked. “Legs? Really? Is that a good idea?” Heh. Then she tells Ollie the short version of what has happened to her and shoo’s off the guy who interrupts them. On cue, the Ninja chick crashes in and Lois stares her down questioningly. And when the Blur takes off with Alia, she smiles when she sees the \S/ symbol. Their back and forth was awesome. I love how she showed him that she cared and that she sees through the ‘frat boy’ pretense he’s trying to keep up. She tries to remind him that he’s Green Arrow, he helps people, and that she knows he’s a hero not this. Her reaction to him telling her she was a distraction was good and totally understandable. She tells him she’s found her real hero, which I totally loved And that sinks in and seems to actually have an effect on him. I loved this Lollie interaction with Lois trying to get him back on track and it was great to see how much their friendship has developed. We go to the DP and Lois is trying to Log In but no luck. She hears a chair squeaking and looks up smiling: “Clark?” but it’s Corben. “Minor Technicality” that she’s fired She lets him know Clark will be back and he’s take his chair back soon enough. She gets a call from the Blur which leaves her giddy and she goes to bed with the cutest smile on her face. However that didn’t last long with her seeing flashes of a much darker future that actually gave me the shivers: Chloe dying, her and Clark, Ollie digging a grave, Zod apparently taking over and Tess joining his army. Woah. What an ending. I love how everyone was integrated into the flashes. Now they can’t but have Lois right there in the middle of it all. Clois: What can I say? Ths episode made my Cloisy heart flutter and had me grinning from start to finish. I loved the hints of this relationship throughout the episode. Eventhough they only had two scene together (with one where Lois was unconscious) they owned it. After Clark stops the train and sees Lois unconscious, the look on his face just melted me. It started as the shock of seeing her there, and then his smile and the way he looked at her so lovingly was the sweetest thing ever. I love how he stuck around for just a few more seconds watching her before whooshing away as she started to regain consciousness. From this very first scene, I finally get Tom saying that Clark wasn’t aware he’s in love with Lois in season 8. But now, he’s realized just how deep his feelings for her are and man, does Welling emote the hell out of Clark’s love for Lois. We’re at the fortress with Clark doing his training, but can’t keep his mind of the picture of Lois unconscious on the train. Jor-El senses Clark has something other than the training on his mind and tells Clark that someone is making him hold on to his humanity. Jor-El tells him that he knows what he has to do to let go of his humanity and Clark says “I have to say goodbye to her ..” He knows Lois’ re-appearance is what’s making him cling on to humanity. I love how they’re showing this .. Lois is his tie to humanity and Clark is finally starting to realize that. I love Lois’ dedication to the Blur, defending him when Corben called him a vigilante and being so desperate when she didn’t find him where they agreed to meet because the last thing she remembers was him giving her the goodbye letter and she was so worried about where he ended up. I loved her telling Ollie that she’s already found her true hero, aww This relationship with the Blur didn’t let Clark out of her mind. When she hears the chair squeaking at the Daily Planet (nice callback to Odyssey) she thinks it’s Clark and smiles up at him. When she finds out it’s Corben, she tells him not to get comfortable in the chair. She won’t be letting anyone other than Clark sit across from her Then when she sees Clark’s name plate in the bin, she takes it out and thinks about Clark, probably wondering where the heck he is, when she gets a call. I love her smile when she realizes it’s him She thanks him for the save and he tells her he was supposed to disappear for good but he couldn’t and so asks her to keep this between them This little convo made me want to hear what they talked about the rest of the phonecall. They’re so adorable. I love how much their relationship has evolved. I mean, can you imagine those were the same Lois and Clark from season 4? It’s amazing how they started to become friends and partners and then the romance started with Lois realizing her feeling for Clark last season and Clark doing that fully this season. And now, she’s also his confidante, he trusts her with the Blur side of him. Clark giving up everything human about him in the last three weeks, but now that Lois was back, he realizes that he couldn’t and actually doesn’t have to. It’s Lois who’ll let him learn how to balance the human side of him with the kryptonian side. It’s awesome how Clark is realizing that. And Lois' Clois flashes ... I have no words This season looks so promising for advancing in this relationship and I can’t wait!Clark: I love seeing this part of his journey towards becoming Superman. He’s doing his training with Jor-El and he’s finally embracing the kryptonian side of him. I loved the scenes in the fortress. For once, Clark wasn’t yelling at Jor-El, he’s there on his own terms doing something he believes is the next step. He’s more confident and in control of his emotions. He stands by his choices when he believes they’re right. For example, in that last scene with Chloe, as much as he hated seeing her hurt and no doubt wants to save Jimmy, he has learned his lesson that going back in time will only lead to worse consequences and so he knows he can’t go back. His fight with Alia was pretty impressive and him taking out Jonathan’s watch totally showed that there are actually things he couldn’t let go. It was good that at the end, he realized he can’t really leave his humanity behind. He’s have to learn to balance. On another note, Welling was amazing throughout. His expressions and reactions were spot on. Wow, that was long. Okay, quick thoughts about the rest of the episode. Zod: Like many, I was skeptical to whether this storyline will be handled well. And after seeing Savior, I know it will. The character is really interesting and with having him and his people with no powers, it’ll prove really interesting to see where the story will go. Callum did an amazing job, the way he pushed Tess to the floor and told her he won’t hesitate to kill her, and that smirk at the end of his speech. That last scene with the trial was intense. Zod is not one to admit ignorance. He’ll have an answer and use it to always stay as a leader and have everyone literally kneeling before him. I’m interested to see how things will play out with him. Tess: She was roughed up pretty bad. I liked how she didn’t hesitate to rub it in Zod’s face that he doesn’t know why they’re there, and she tried to strangle him. She didn’t show any intimidation when Zod was right there an inch away from her, taunting her. Heh, it was awesome watching the trial scene when she made them question Zod and then her reaction to his speech and everyone kneeling before him. It was good to see she had a plan all along, though it didn’t quite work like she wanted. Cassidy was great in this episode, I loved how she played all Tess’ reactions and actions. Ollie: It made sense that he was on this downward spiral. Jimmy’s death shook him hard and he needed something to distract him from the pain he was feeling. Lois showing up was really good for him. She showed that she trusted him and that she knows he’s still Green Arrow beneath this pretense. He tried to push her away like he did everything else in his life, but I think she actually got to him. It’ll be interesting to see how he comes out of this and how it’ll effect the decisions he makes later on. Chloe: It was good seeing her doing the best she can to find Lois. Her scenes with Emil were interesting and it was good that they showed that she's in a new element and she didn't fit right in, and that she might actually be in over her head because of all the new tasks she has as Watchtower. I have to admit, I hated how the first thing she pointed out to Lois in that hospital scene is that she must have hit her head and was delusional. She, of all people, should know that it could very well be true, which it was, and the way she talked to her didn't sit well with me. I also didn't like her last scene with Clark. Eventhough I understand why she'd ask him to save Jimmy, she should understand Clark's point of view and she knows how turning back time then gave dire consequences so her line that "there's nothing human left in him" and then walking out on him the way she did was really bad. All in all, great episode all around. I'm getting more and more excited for the rest of the season. __________________ "You can lean on me for strength. I feel stronger when you're around anyway." | Fan Forum's Finest ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Damn I was typing up a whole response and it got erased. Stupid thing. I just wanted to say though great review . I also loved the way that Durance played the phone booth moment. Lois could have come across as too needy, but I think the desperation and the urgency in her voice and actions was pitch perfect given the fact that the last time she saw him, he asked her to publish his goodbye letter to the world and was telling her that he might die. Also, the moment when she stomps on Corbin's foot was golden and her eyebrow raise was awesome . Another thing, I liked in your review was your mention of Lollie and Lois' reaction to Ollie. I'm glad her "obnoxious jackass" line was warranted b/c in the past they sometimes make Lois come across as a bit too harsh (e.g. her reaction to Clark's concern for her in Rage). Also I'm really glad that this season has established a clear arc from the season premiere with a clear destination in mind. Lois' dreams hold the key to the whole season, which means there's no way our girl can be pushed aside. She's going to be front and center for the whole season. Also the one year in the future thing gives the season a nice time line, since they have one season to figure everything out.Regarding Clois, I think we're all so in awe of the train scene and the sex flashes that it's easy to overlook their phone call, but I think it was a really important scene in the episode. This happened after he'd just had the scene when Chloe told him there was basically nothing human left about him. What does he do after this? He goes to Lois, his last link to humanity. The one person left that he trusts. The one person who unfailingly trusts in him and has NEVER undermined his decisions or taken his choice away from him, and has always respected him. Sure Lois teases him and snarks at him, but it's always to his face. You'll notice that when she's talking about him behind his back, she's more often than not singing his praises. I find it interesting that Clark asked her to promise that they keep this (the fact that they're still talking) between them. The wording stood out to me, b/c it really looks like their moving Lois into the position of Clark's secret keeper and his sole confidante. Now the promo pic they took of Lois beside Clark's glasses is starting to make sense. The glasses represent Clark's identity, as Clark Kent a.k.a his human side and Lois is his link to that part of him, as well as his confidante and secret keeper now. And so much yes to Callum Blue as Zod. He makes evil look sexy .This concludes my ramblings .__________________ Rachel So I put my arms around you...and I know that I'll be leaving soonღ Clark: Lois, I died when you left. I love your mentions of your favourite shots for Lois (zoom in, the pole,...) and Clark (the statue of liberty, looking over Metropolis,...) and the parallels and similarities you pointed out, like the pose Lois and Clark had during their fight with Alia. And of course, your insight on everything Lois/Clois in the episode, which I definitely agree with. Great review ![]() I agree, some scenes with Lois that could have been taken the wrong way were written in a good way. Durance was amazing in every scene. I can't wait to see Lois start trying to work out those flashes and how that'll make her involved in so many storylines! I love how all the Clois-related scene had some kind of significance in it. And the phonecall definitely showed how Clark is moving closer to Lois through the Blur and he trusts her to be his secret keeper. I loved that whole conversation ![]() __________________ "You can lean on me for strength. I feel stronger when you're around anyway." They barely had two or three scenes together last season, so this came as a great way to show more of that friendship and like you said, it relates to their conversation in Bride because it shows even more how much they genuinely care about each other and will be there for each other when needed.
