Official Description

NBC/CTV have released the official (spoiler-filled) description of the upcoming series premiere of "Saving Hope". Titled "The Fight", this episode is scheduled to air in the U.S. & Canada at 9:00pm on Thursday, June 28th on NBC/CTV.

From NBC: A sleep-deprived Alex (Erica Durance) takes on a night shift in the ER where an all-star hockey enforcer may be skating full-speed towards an early death. Meanwhile, Charlie meets a suburban punk who is facing the biggest fight of his life.

From CTV: After finding out that Charlie's condition hasn't improved, Alex is growing concerned about his chances of recovery. Her worries are exacerbated when she detects a crackling in Charlie's chest. Does he have pneumonia? To keep her mind active, an already exhausted Alex takes an overnight shift in the ER that turns into a hotbed of activity when a hockey superstar comes in with injured ribs and soon after, a young man stabbed in a nightclub is rushed in by ambulance. The stabbing victim falls into a coma and meets Charlie. While Charlie tries to prepare the kid for a long stay on the spirit side, he impresses Charlie by willing himself to wake up and return to his body. Alex suspects the hockey player has a concussion, but when she mentions the dreaded 'C word,' he heads for the exit, only to be stopped by gunshots going off in the ER; friends of the stabbing victim getting payback. With the hospital in lockdown, Alex can pursue her diagnosis.

I finally saw this episode on Sunday and I really enjoyed it.

I love seeing Alex at work. It's apparent she's passionate about her job and I like that she doesn't just stand by, treat the patients medically and walk away. She cares about them and actively tries to help them in all issues they might be going through. Examples of that is helping Todd realize what he has instead of just focusing on what he's losing and talking to Joel about the woman's surgery and making him realize that saving her life is more important than taking an unnecessary risk.

The Alex/Charlie flashbacks continue to be one of my favourite parts of the episode. I love how they always have their hands touching like with the interwining during their ILY kiss and the proposal, the handholding as they went out of the hospital and into the cab to get married, and in this scene, the way Alex had her arm through his. Charlie listing the little things that make her special and that he loves was so sweet

Alex/Joel interactions were great too. I liked her pointing out he's wearing fancy jeans and then him taking care of her at the end and making her take a little break because it was obvious she needed it.

I also liked seeing more of Alex and Melanda's friendship. It's great seeing Melanda be there for Alex throughout this whole thing and that she understands the state Alex is in which is why she didn't get upset when she got worked up about Charlie's pneumonia.

Some general thoughts: I've really been liking the comedy parts of the episodes too. The stuff with Charlie and the kid was hilarious I was like At least he has someone to have fun with for a little while Also, it was fun seeing the other characters interacting in an environment outside of work.

Love your review Ray! ITA with you about Alex and Charlie. They make a very believable and sweet couple and I love their physicality. I'll have to say more on your thoughts later.
