Yep, Moto!, I`ve been working for Motorola for the last 10 years, the last 3 in the Android division ... I work as a technical trainer & knowledge officer.. For me though is not much of a change since I already was working with Google a lot since we implemented Android.., that`s why they are keeping me as well...

and yeah, is most of all for patents, specially since the mobile division here holds a lot of patents that will help Google against Apple. I sense a big patent war coming up!

Oh I can see them using those patents to fend off Apple's tries to get the Galaxy and Tablet line banned everywhere. I'm still not sure what Apple and the courts are doing. That injunction against the Galaxy 10.1 was totally stupid. That's like as if Daimler started getting injunctions against all other companies because they infringed on their design of a car with 4 wheels, a chassis, glass windows, doors and the wheels belonging on the bottom of the car on axis.

Leave alone that Apple didn't invent the tablet and it's been available in essentially the same shape or form for decades. I guess a movie like 2001: A Space Odyssey is the original inventor of the design.

Reminds me of when Apple sued MS about the GUI of Windows in the beginning of the 90s even though they had blatantly ripped it off and violated patents of Xerox.

But that's Apple they will never change *sigh*

So true, it`s always been the same with them. The Motorola/Apple patent battle began years ago though, but now with Google in the picture, it`s gonna get more interesting LOL.

Motorola holds patents (and is suing Apple now) for 3G, GPRS, proximity sensors, multi-device synch, internal antenna design and software application management (app store), and wireless email amongst others so, it`s gonna be fun to watch

I think most of these patents (of any company) are just bogus anyway. The patent system really needs to reform or it will stifle innovation more than it already does.

True, specially the US Patent system, is just ridiculous, it is totally against innovation and it turns everything into a legal war that all it does is slow down technology and turn everything into a monopoly... and a paradise for lawyers...

It is all like a theoretic (Feyerabend) I used to talk about in university, he always intended to not stop the invention, which the patent system in general terms does.

Germany's patent system at least has a semblance of sanity. It's probably still stifling competition but not the same way.

Like Apple supposedly patented rounded cornered icons on mobile devices. WTF is that about? Iirc even Win95 already had icons with rounded edges and it's very possible that this goes back even further. Win 3.1? Amiga OS? I don't remember but I wouldn't wonder about that. Just because they took this idea and put it on a mobile device doesn't mean it's a new idea. It's basically the same with all of Apple's "innovation". They take the ideas of other people, sometimes they brush them up a bit and then patent it. Then they start suing people for it. All they do differently than others is they have a great marketing department that makes a big hype of the latest idea they've ripped off.

ETA: They do design a good UI though which works flawlessly even though most things have been seen before. The execution is just flawless.

ETA2: The US trademark system isn't any better either. US companies have started trademarking words from other languages just so they can rip off companies from other countries that sell their products under those names. Like wtf is the US trademarking office thinking of letting companies trademark things like Basmati or haldi and so on? Those are regular Hindi names for certain types of food.

Ok, so I don't know if I got the part or not but let me tell you something! I read with 5 different partners and kicked ass in every read! I wowed my director and friend and he was almost speechless at one of my reads and he's like where the hell did THAT come from?? HAHA! OH My I feel so good. I mean came to do a job, to wow them, to do the best I could do and I was one of the last to leave so I think I have a really good shot but regardless I am PROUD of what I did and I did all I could do.
