I think this thread has always been waiting for last night's episode! It's been really cute to see the adult versions of Missy and George with the younger ones, too.

Not to mention reminiscing about George Sr. Not the biggest fan of Young Sheldon, but that show has done a great job humanizing Sheldon's father, while staying true to his character.

The moment was very sweet but I still have my problems with the newly created Cooper background story. For 10 years we learned (not only by Sheldon but also by Mary) that his childhood was very hard for him, that his father cheated on his mother and that they had a lot of fights. And now, because they needed to make a family compatible show, everything was nice and sweet?

I'm ok with the Young Sheldon Show, but for me it's not a prequel but a Show in an alternative universe

I wonder what Sheldon would say if one of his favorite shows would create a new background for the characters, I bet he would hate it and call the producers

I agree, I found this scene very OC for Mary and Sheldon.
It bugs me a lot that they change Sheldon's background to fit with the new show.

I would say it'd be fun to see Sheldon with the kid (either while he's visiting Texas, or she's visiting again), but seeing the lengths they're going to to not have babies for the Wolowitz kids, I'm sure we don't see her kid either.

I've actually quite enjoyed how the Cooper family life has been different than Sheldon painted it, showing that he's been a rather unreliable narrator over the course of TBBT, and, if the finale is any indication, has gone on to gain some new perspective on it once he's older, has had his own kids, etc. I think the episode with Georgie highlighted that with the Halloween costume story, where Sheldon thought Georgie was being mean to him when he was actually trying to protect him.

Concerning George Sr's affair, the writers have stated that that hasn't happened in Young Sheldon's timeline yet, but that it's something they'll have to build to over the course of the show. Just like they're also building towards his death with the heart attack episode.

One thing I was worried about was how they had Annie Potts record the phone message to Sheldon instead of June Squibb for the finale. I adore Annie Potts as Meemaw (she's probably my favourite character), but didn't really like how they were kind of erasing June as older Meemaw. So I'm glad it got cut from the episode.

In any case, I'm thrilled we got to see Missy again! I know the writers mentioned that the first script of the finale was super long, so I wonder if they had any more scenes of Raj being interested in Missy that they cut. Their one scene took me back to the days I used to ship them. I would definitely not complain if the Coopers still haven't left by the time the premier rolls around.

I'm just a person who doesn't like the "unreliable narrator" thing because to me it's just an excuse to be lazy or change your mind about stuff and then claim it was always that way.
