I ranted about it to a couple coworkers too, neither of whom watch any of the involved shows!

In other news, even though I already have too many hobbies and not enough time, I impulse bought an ocarina yesterday! And while I'm impatiently waiting for it to be delivered, I was inspired to dig out my tin whistle, which I've had for over 10 years and almost never touched. Thankfully no one else is home right now, or they'd probably be annoyed, haha.

I saw Frozen at the Pantages tonight, and it "snowed" during curtain call (little white pieces of paper), and that's probably as close to snow as I'll get all year.

Just move your vacation up and you'll get more snow here than you know what to do with. (I joke of course but I think there's close to three feet up by where we'll be.)

Need to vent a tiny bit. All monetary amounts are USD.

My sister is getting married at the end of June. Obviously there's stress that comes with wedding planning, and I get that. What's driving me particularly crazy, however, is how my family essentially expects me to be her servant girl from now until then.

I am currently unemployed, and while job hunting I get $150 a week from the government. This does not cover my bills, I am using my savings to make up the difference. When I get a new job, I know that places usually are okay with time off that you already had planned, but I also can't be piggy about it. I will need at least a week off just for all the wedding related outings she has planned for us, and it's possible I don't get all that time off, especially the ones in March-April because I might have a mandatory training period at the start of a new position where I can't get time off. Family logic is "well you know what the dates are already, so don't accept a position that would cause a problem." As if I can afford to just not work.

The bachelorette party is apparently going to be a three day outing in another state, that is as of now going to cost each bridesmaid approximately $700. Do the math. This is more than my monthly unemployment benefit, which I can't save from because I have bills, and I'm already dipping into my savings - and when I say dipping into, I mean completely draining - to pay my expenses. "You knew when you agreed to be in my wedding you'd have to spend money." Yeah. And I have the money for my dress and stuff, I do not even have $700 at this point so it's not even that I don't want to spend that much, I literally can't.

Then, I'm essentially told not to make plans, not to go out of town, not to do anything on my days off from whatever my future job is, because "sister might need you and we can't stress her out because this is about her."

To which I'm like, no. Her wedding is about her. 2020 isn't about her. And I'm sorry if it causes some sort of family drama, but I'm not sitting on my butt every day between now and June 27th on the off chance that my sister might want to plan another social outing. My life is not stopping because she's getting married. But whenever I say "oh I'm going to go do this on Monday," I get "what about the wedding?"

The wedding is in 150 days.
