How long has it been since you got out the uke?

Played it today after work!

I've actually been really good this year about playing ukulele - much more consistent than I'd been in the past.

I was going to say, that felt more consistent to me! When you said you had just busted out the viola again I was like "I thought she had been...waaaait maybe that's the other one."

Ha, yup. I actually bought new strings for my viola last year, intending to play more. But after putting them on, I played maybe twice and stopped again.

Ukulele is just so much easier to pick up if I only have a few minutes. It always feels like such a process to get out everything for my viola.

I haven't played music in so long I forgot my flute has to be assembled to play it and was like "what the fork?" when I saw it in the closet and saw how small the case was.

My dad's always concerned that I'll forget how to read music, since I rarely play. I don't know if I managed to play just often enough for that not to be a concern, or what, but thankfully that hasn't been an issue.

I played in a recorder ensemble when I was a teenager ( I played the tenor flute) and I stopped playing for a very long time. 30 years later I read about an ensemble (for people who are 45 and older) in the town where I live now and now I'm playing the flute again. It's fun, it reminds me so much of my old ensemble and the times when I was a young girl

I don't think I'll ever forget how to read music, but when I get back to it, if I *think* about it too hard, I start missing things, I have to rely on my muscle memory to actually play the notes I'm reading.

That's awesome, Susanne! I'd love to play in a group again someday, I really miss playing with an orchestra.

On another note - I'm seeing the musical Anastasia tomorrow! The tour just got to the Pantages, and they're doing a digital lottery for $25 tickets, and I won!

I cannot stand the Anastasia movie, but some of my issues with the movie aren't present in the musical, so it's definitely one I'd like to see.

Went to a book signing last night for Rob Paulsen! I'm a fan because of his work in Animaniacs (he voiced Yakko, and other characters), but he's worked on SO many other cartoons. I very rarely get emotional when meeting celebrities, but he's one of the few exceptions!
