Well I've finished 12 Monkeys, and it was a PERFECT ending! It was so good I already want to go back to the begining and rewatch. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun time travel story!

Agents of SHIELD is ending next week. Most of my long running shows I didn't start watching until at least a couple seasons in, but I've been watching SHIELD since episode one, and I'm really sad to see it go.

Someone talked about Avatar on this thread. I finally watched it, overall it was nice to watch, not much more.

There were some moments where it lost me, specially the beginning of season 3, but it gets better towards the end.

Well the Agents of SHIELD finale was nearly perfect! There's one thing I'm not really happy with, but as far as the characters that had been there since the beginning, I'm really happy with where they all ended up.

I think all the seasons are really good, but Book 1 is definitely the weakest. Things really start ramping up in Books 2 and 3.

For all the Americans on here, they just added the sequel series The Legend of Korra to Netflix again, so I also highly recommend that.

Ah yes, so that is actually regarding the live action adaptation of the series that Netflix wants to do. The original animated series of ATLA ended in 2008 with three seasons, as the creators intended.

I have a lot of feels on the matter, so I apologize in advance for this essay.

So back in 2010, M. Night Shyamalan got the rights from Nickelodeon to make a live action movie of ATLA. The creators, Mike and Bryan, really did not want to do that, but, unfortunately, when you create a show for a network, they own it and not you. So the movie happened, and basically any and all input Mike and Bryan offered was ignored. The movie was terrible, in large part because it was completely whitewashed. All of the nations in ATLA are inspired by Asian and Indigenous cultures, so none of the characters are white. But, surprise surprise, all the hero characters were white and the "bad guy" nation was Indian, none of which is canonically correct. We in the ATLA fandom do not speak its name.

Cut to 2018 and Netflix announces that they are making a live action television adaptation of ATLA. Now at first everyone was afraid because war flashbacks to the movie, but Netflix revealed that Mike and Bryan would be the showrunners. Bryke, as the fandom calls them, both put out statements saying they were super excited because they would be given creative control and could finally cast the series as was racially appropriate.

But now cut to this past Wednesday and Bryke put out statements that Netflix basically has offered them very little creative input over the past two years, and that the adaptation Netflix wants to make just isn't in the spirit of the world and characters they created, so they decided to cut their losses and leave. The whole fandom is really sad about it, and now no one is excited for this adaptation. It will likely join the ranks of the unmentionable film.

I was never in dire need of a live action adaptation for ATLA because I think the original show is perfect on its own; however, I was excited that Inuit actors and Asian actors would have an opportunity to star in an epic fantasy show. The fact that Bryke felt they couldn't continue to work on the show makes me worried that the cast will be whitewashed again. I'm most concerned about Inuit actors being entirely cut out now. Also, while Mike and Bryan are two white guys, they have always been 100% respectful of the cultures they took inspiration from and did their research tenfold. I'm also worried that Netflix is totally gonna disrespect those cultures now.
