Welcome to the 26th Mayim/Amy thread!   Mayim Bialik, “The Big Bang Theory” (CBS) – Consistently funny, Mayim manages to make Amy Farrah Fowler into one of the show’s most complex characters. From one vantage point, it’s easy to think of her as this female Sheldon, this overly scientific woman with little interest in human emotion. However, where she differs is in her capacity and interest in love, and valuing interpersonal connection. These traits combined make her somewhat different than everyone else on the show. I think psychotherapy is awesome. Our house is a "no shoes on" house. I love any comedy with Martin Lawrence. I like any hairless creature: hairless cats, hairless dogs, and especially the naked mole rat. I am a terrible skier. I dislike being pampered: massages and manicures are not my thing. Bands I love: Mumford and Sons, Avett Brothers, Neko Case, David Grey, Gomez, New Pornographers. I love crossword puzzles. In the late 1990's I was the clue to "53 across" in the LA Times crossword puzzle. My thesis was in the field of Psychoneuroendocrinology. I own every Elvis Costello album on LP. I have a charcoal grey hairless cat named Esau. I don't like heights, closed spaces, or swimming in deep waters in the ocean. I am obsessed with Faye Kellerman's series of detective novels about a Baal Teshuvah Jewish detective and his Modern Orthodox wife.
