Fearless gave me the heads up, had to come look at a new Jason photo!
He looks a lot like Gael Garcia Bernal to me in that photo. I like the short hair in front!

Synopsis does sound like a totally different movie (phew - maybe I can see that one - although I'm not so sure, with a character named 'Needletooth'!

As a friend pointed out - hope it's not a mullet, though he's sported them before....

Yay! Thanks so much, Liz! You rock! Love, love, love the pic! And don't you just want to reach over and smooth those adorable worry frowny wrinkles off his forehead and tell him everything will be OK?

The short hair makes me happy - he looks younger, I think. But I'm with you - short or long, he's still all about the acting, which is mesmerizing. And ditto on the synopsis. I'm glad I'm not the only one who found the description to be "Senseless! Tee-hee! New pics and living on five hours sleep constantly make me really geeky!

and to all my buddies - sorry to be so MIA or SOL or some other letter thing - LOL and TTFN!

Lizzie!!! Thank you so much for the new pic!!!

This is just so amazing seeing a new pic of him finally! And I just love the short hair too! Though to be realy honnest the long hair has grown on me. But then I never have any problems with short hair.
It's true though it doesn't matter if his hair is long or shjort he's a great actor and would do an amazing job on this movie!

I was wondering about that sinopsis too.... maybe it was just a mistake.....

Oh and I hope it's not a mullet too! Never liked or understood those things.....

They fixed the info

“Senseless” unfolds as an affluent business man (Jason Behr) finds himself the unwilling hostage to political extremists who brutally torture him for acts he has no recollection of ever committing.

Audiences of blood-thirsty home viewers fixate on their computer screens as his torment is streamed across the internet and delivers the most graphic and disturbing reality show ever to be broadcast.

Thanks, Jen. I emailed one of the Matador producers yesterday when I found it was incorrect. They work fast!

Anyone notice on all the stats, it says International Sales, Shoreline Entertainment? At least they have a big distributor working with them - maybe they'll pick it up themselves. Shoreline films are the ones that start out with the little light house with the beam of light sweeping around. I still haven't seen anything on their site. We'll have to keep checking back. Shoreline Entertainment

I emailed them, too, last night from my work address, and notified the publicity people. I was so pleased to see they had changed it so quickly!

I have imdb.pro, and went through the rigamarole you have to do to submit to them "Senseless" as a film project. They finally put it up, but still haven't put in the cast. I've emailed them the updated cast list and the uplink to the official site, so hopefully soon it will be listed under JB's upcoming film projects.

The picture is exactly as it was described in the book. It's after Torture #2, then, with 3 more (even more upsetting) to go.

I put book synopsis spoilers over on MB, for those who believe that forewarned is forearmed! And believe me, for this you'll need a lot of both! It's the most grueling thing I've ever read, and when I finished it I just felt angry at the author. So I hope the director is brilliant, and has come up with a point for all the pain, which I felt the book lacked.

One thing that gives me hope: the reality-TV aspect. It could actually make a statement for entertainment media taking responsibility for what they do to a culture, or something like that, and hopefully elevate the material out of the absolute swamp of horror and lunacy...

Interesting: on the location guy's site, he describes Senseless as an "Action Adventure feature film set in Europe and America."

The flashbacks are at least half of the book, or more, and tho some are of Eliott as a child, most would have to have him older than that.

So does that mean they will film/have filmed/are filming in the U.S. of A?

Anyone know where & when?

Or are they subbing in locales in Scotland? (Which would seem... inauthentic.)

Naaahhh. A source has heard that the whole thing will be filmed in Scotland.

Probably very low-budget, I'm guessing.

Rats. Next time, Erin!

I thought the book was superb. There is a lot of literature and cinema that doesn't particular dwell on the whys and wherefores of the subject they tackle. European and Japanese works often provide an experience that leaves the viewer or reader uncomfortable, asking questions that they themsleves have to find an answer to. This approach does not take anything away from the material. It is generally understood that the American psyche always wants everything explained, wrapped up in a bow. Maybe that is why the Hollywood version of The Grudge was nowhere as good as the original Japanese version. It went and tried to provide back stories and explanations and lost 40% of it's impact as a result.

Having said that I think the book "Senseless" packs a wallop and a point. "Senseless" makes you realise the frustration and despair that so many "lesser" countries feel about their colonisation through global economy, the ideological double standards practised by leading nations, particularly America.
This is a writer who does not see America thru rose-tinted glasses. Only in this case, he has chosen to filter his point through to us by flipping the experience over, and making an innocent American go through the agony that many feel on a daily basis in lesser countries. I don't mean this literally as eyes, nose, ears being mutilatled - but metaphorically - where so many peple have no freedom of speech, no food to eat, who are forced to turn a blind eye and a deaf ear to the injustices in their country - this, while America & other rich nations deal and trade with the corrupt leaders of said countries, perpetuating the injustices being carried out there - interpret it as you will. Anyone watch "Syriana"? Now THAT was the best film at the Oscars.

OK, why America? A tiny example. America decided to cosy up with the royal rulers of Saudi Arabia when they realised they need to park their forces in that little principality during the Gulf War. America chose to ignore the fact that the Saudis are a highly oppressed people who crave democracy, but are completely stifled, and cruelly so, by their royal rulers. Yet this is the same America who decided to free Iraq and Kosovo from it's oppressors, championing democracy when their policies suited them. Double standards. It's also probably the reason why a monster like Osama could whip up support against America among good ordinary folk in Saudi Arabia.

Read Stona Fitch's interviews and you will find that he started thinking about writing this book after 9/11. I truly admire this man. He has stood back and critiqued his own country and not fallen into the blinkered trappings of infotainment propaganda spewed out by 24 hour news channels today, where Americans are almost always made out to be the victims. Stona Fitch is an American who thinks, and has a conscience. It's just that he has chosen to make his point obliquely. Hence the feeling that there is no obvious point or message. He is one of the most exciting writers to emerge out of America in recent times, and he has the respect of some of the greatest living writers in his own country.

I'm filled with pride that JB has taken on this project. I don't care whether this film succeeds or fails, I think this is going to be JB's greatest triumph. Not because this could be a helluva showcase for his talent but simply because the script has been adapted from an outstanding work.
From what one has gleaned about JB over the years, he is a pretty evolved human being. He has the sensibility, the mental latitude to get the point of such a novel, to question his own country, and not take refuge in the simplistic equations of right and wrong, black and white. Ofcourse, this does not mean that JB or Stona Fitch are not true loyal Americans, but just very intelligent, cognisant ones.

Well when you win the Lottery and Fantastic Company has it's own building headquaters and priviate jet then we will have no problem tracking down the Behr. All we would have to do it just hop on the JB Airways (Come fly the Behrian Skies) and be across the world to see him in a heartbeat!

Aw Yes My signature I loved the quote! I was dying I mean after all nothing saids take me now as a carpetcoat like Liz had in season Two she was really screaming with the sex appeal!

But then again "The Randsom of Red Tess" I think was a classic story! O. Henry had nothing when it came to RED'S or rather FRED'S if the F is not lit up and the capture of Tess!

Aw I love the reviews us Roswellians gave of Season Two! There was nothing quite like them!

I sent you a PM.

Hope all is well. Keep on dreaming Obessies.

Love,
Erin
