Ah, I see. The ending was exactly the same as the book. Ok, makes sense now. Thanks Sirio!

Spoiler:
What city was he in anyway?

Sirio and Crystal......what would I do without you two?
I had not read the book, so thank you Sirio for providing the last part. Okay, I understand.
Crystal.....I think the book said the city was Antwerp (Belgium?).
Maybe I want to read the book now......I'll think about that.
Thanks all!

I had no idea that the movie was based on a book...cool.

I rented Senseless through Netflix right when it became available. I was afraid that was the only way I'd get to see it. It's funny because when I was renting another movie from this rental place we have in town what, to my surprise, was sitting there on the shelf...go figure!

I thought Jason was amazing in this film. The torture scenes and the emotion all seemed so real. He's such an unbelievably fantastic actor! I always love the way Jason just seems to completely put his all into every role he does. The man is brilliant!

Personally my mind didn't go back to the White Room while watching the movie. Then again I hadn't seen that episode in quite some time. What did catch me as ironic was how some of his captors were wearing alien masks. It reminds me now of the mask Jason and Brendan were wearing in the season 3 episode of Roswell called Crash.

All in all...this was a great movie! I'm hoping more and more people will see it and it'll come to be a horror classic maybe. You never know.

Jason needs a big time American director snatching him up for a role. That would be greatttt.

It appears Senseless is due for a theatrical release in Italy.

One Movie Entertainment. Cinema, Home video, Televisione, New media.

We'll be able to see Jason on the big screen, as any other 'normal' actor.

I can't believe it. It is too good to be real.

Do you want the end of the world? Jason out of his cave? This is impossible.

If he would attend the premiere (and I don't think so) we will offer him the journey. Board and lodging.

Meantime, I've just bought the DVD. In Italian! Wow!
A Jason's movie in Italian. The end of the world is approaching ...

From the Board of Senseless on IMDB:

Best Horror Film of the Current Trend--Torture Porn

by taylorcole (Sun Nov 1 2009 18:54:00)

I took an upper-division horror film seminar in the spring of 1986 at the University of Colorado. Since then I have always considered myself a bit of an aficionado of horror. But I am not a fanatic. I passed on most all of the torture porn films of the past decade, dismissing them as not having the potential to advance the genre in any of it multitudinous facets.

The other night I stumbled on Senseless (2008). I think the industry has missed the mark on this one. It is terribly brutal, really goes too far. However, it is so well written, acted, paced, plotted and themed, that I believe it must be the best torture porn film made.

The premise is simple, and I kind of dismissed it as trite at first. But because of that brilliant level of writing where throw-away lines resonate the deepest and the longest, the tension mounts painfully. It moves seamlessly from brutal physical torture to mind bogglingly hurtful psychological torture, not torment. There are only five acts of violence in the film, but what happens between those acts makes the film difficult to endure. The writing is excellent, but the primary actor’s non-verbal scenes really make the film. The end masterfully ties up the experience. It is utterly unsatisfying while being completely fulfilling. The viewer becomes so desperate for respite, that the one instance of mercy, which is part and parcel of the film’s most horrific moment of cruelty, makes for a vaguely happy ending.

Quite honestly, I have never been scared by a movie. Too much suspense bores me. Senseless, on the other hand, horrified me and haunts me still five days later.

I am starting a grass-roots campaign to get these film makers the recognition they deserve. They took the genre to the next level using the cutting edge themes of big studio horror—torture porn.

I agree. This is an incredibly powerful little film which deserves to reach a wider audience.

I don't think it should necessarily be lumped in with the torture porn trend though. In a lot of ways it is the antithesis of those pointless gore fests. Whereas Hostel etc use extreme violence as a means to entertain, Senseless seeks to actively engage the audience with the question; why are you taking pleasure from another human's suffering? I think it is being confronted with this question that puts some horror fans off the film.

Senseless is raw, provocative and brave film-making. Something that should be cherished.
