Oh I just watched Britney too. Here's my thinking.

What the hell was with all the costumes? They made NO sense. Talk about a hodge-podge. And the costumes so often didn't match the music style. What was the reason behind dancing in flowy fairy dresses to arabian harem dance music? I suppose too, that we missed some of the songs coz sometimes she changed after only one song. Bizarre. And the set at some stages, esp the beginning was so bitsy you couldn't find the dancers. What's with that? The music was a bit of this and that. Crazy. Was that MC guy really annoying or am I just too old? The idea of the Hotel was a good concept, I just don't think they used it appropriately. At least she put in enough effort to re-arrange the songs to add interest. And she did work her butt off. The audience seemed to have a great time though and that's what counts.

go Britney, go Britney

Good to see I'm not the only one with nothing to do on a friday night!

My final word on Britters--Girlfriend, don't be sitting all demure behind the piano if you aint gonna play it, and don't be singing live if you.....well...can't.

Visually spectacular though.

Awww man, I've been outed! By myself!

Danie, as I said on the JOFs thread, yes, I once won on the one and only Double Dare.

How embarrassment.

I almost avoided the Physical Challenge, but alas, my idiotic partner Matthew (I had a big crush on him at the time) failed me at the penultimate moment and we did indeed meet the 'Challenge'.

Luckily we did have to go thru that ringer thing, I was always worried I'd get stuck, but we did have to do a tug of war over a pit of red goo, and throw patty cakes made of some sort of pink papier mache creation at the red team. (We of course were the Blue team, who always seem to win)

Anyway, we won, I got to meet Gerry Sont, and was a mini celebrity at my primary school for the next 6 mths. I did however, have to endure my older sisters' torment over how stupid I look in the helmet I was made to wear...

Ahhh memories.

So now you know. Now, who wants my autograph?

Sarz, you were on one of those fun kids quiz shows!!! Goo and all One of the boys at school in Yr 6 was on some show and we were very proud of his achievements too

Sarz, I've never been a fan of red goo, but I was always willing to be an armchair player! Please tell me you taped it! It reminds me of the ad that I was in for Sunraisia soft drinks when I was about 10... that haunted me for years! Me playing bad tennis, then enjoying a good bottle of the fizz... Oh god. VERY embarressment. Sarz, I do want your autograph!

OK, I'm not going to watch Mimic... I just got through watching The Fly again (the re-make, not the original)... Jeff Goldblum covered in hairs while Geena Davis tries to save him... ahh, what a romance!

Sadly, I missed Britney and watched 'loveactually' again... Hugh Grant just kills me as the Prime Minister! And then there's about an hour of deleted scenes in the special features... pity they chopped the internet porn bit with Liam, that would have been priceless! That will teach you to click on "Claudia Naked".

And Danie you were in a commercial...i'm surounded by celebrities Can i have both of your autographs.

Well I'd love to say you all missed out on seeing Britters, but ummmm....ya didnt.

Anyhoo,

Danie, it would appear we yet again have something in common--I too, 'starred' in a few commercials as a wee kiddie but before you all get excited, I have to admit that having a mother who workd for a Production Co. that produced crappy commercials was the ONLY reason I was ever asked to participate. Somewhere in a dusty box in my mother's linen cupboard, lies a box full of terrible and embarrassing memorabilia from my brief stint as a serious thesp. To date, ol' Sarzy and her sisters have danced like morons in 3 Brashes commercials, acted surprised in a Campbells Cash n Carry commercial, pointed at Easter Eggs in a Nestle commercial and had our voices recorded for immortality in several radio commercials pimping Sard Wondersoap. Oh, and if you ever go to Karaoke, be sure to request Craig McLachlan's 'Hey Mona', coz my cat and I are in the clip for that too. Don't ask.

Just be thankful that by the time Qantas wanted the Oz Girls Choir for it's Ad campaign, I was long gone. Thank the Lord.

Amen.

Speaking of kiddie quiz shows, the one I REALLY wanted to be on was Now You See It, with Melvin the robot. You remember, 'Line One, Position Five......' That was always the 'intellectual' kiddie show full of geeks with big glasses and bad hair, and I just knew at age 8 that I would kick ass. So of course Mum took me to see Romper Room instead. "Miss Jane! Miss Jane!"

I cant imagine why I'm not famous.....

Poddy--Did you catch our boy Mr. Mayer performing on the Today show yesterday? he sand 4 songs and was interview briefly by my hero, Katie Couric. God I love him, he used the word 'incendiery'. I WANT HIS BABIES!!!!!

Right, that decides it. The next meeting of the Bobs is going to be in Melbourne and we're going to watch old Sarz and Danie commercials.

Ohh, I forgot my brief stint on "Real Life" with Stan Grant (do we all remember him?)... went away on camp for two months and a Channel Seven film crew followed me, and then some silly nitwit told them who my Dad was... b@stards! I look pissed off in the whole interview.... can you blame me?

Mezz, trust me, I think the soft drink ad went in the bin years ago! And Kender, you may have my autograph, it may be worth something when I die, since all artists only make money after they're dead... oh yeah and male. Dang, I can't manage that one just yet.

Ahhh Sarz, 'Check 1, 2'... what a great band and 'Hey Mona' was a great song. I just wish I could remember the words. That song inspired many bad sing-a-longs with Dad. So, Karaoke is on the cards then? Maybe I can perform my award-winning rendition of MacArthur Park? I was thinking of entering Australian Idol using that song... pity I missed the try outs.

Ohh my favourite ad is on TV right now... Run rabbit, run rabbit, run, run, run...!! Just love it! OK, I'm a little too excited about it, I know...

Got abused by a cab driver today who decided that I was a racist because I didn't hand him my credit card the right way... just another day in Danie's bizarre life.

Well, the cab driver...

I got in the cab and thank god he wasn't a chatting type because the mood I was in, I didn't really want to talk. Anyway, he had the radio on (I think it was something like ABC National) and it was full of stories about women being thrown out of university in Turkey because they were Muslim and weren't allowed to wear a head scarf in classes. If they did, they would be banned from attending university for two years. It was very informative but at no time did I make a comment about it to the cab driver.
So we get to my destination and I tell him that I'm putting the fare on my credit card. So he does the all the right button pushing and hands me my card and the eftpos receipt. While I'm signing my life away, he starts playing with the little computer thingo and checks for a new fare, so I place the signed receipt on the space between the front two seats. Then he starts up:

You think that I'm dirty don't you?

I'm sorry, pardon me?

Well, why didn't you hand me the docket? You're a racist! I handed you your card!

I'm sorry, but you were doing something else, so I thought I'd leave you the docket here.

No! That is the not the right way! You are a racist and you think that I'm dirty!

No, I do not. Now could I have my receipt for my card?

NO! YOU ARE A DISCUSTING WOMAN AND GET OUT OF MY CAB!

Right... I guess I mistakenly pushed some buttons there!? I didn't do anything in my assessment of the situation, so you can all gather that I was a little shocked at his outburst. So I told him that I'd be reporting him. I called Silver Top and told them about the 'conversation' (it was really a lot of shouting on his part) I had with the driver and they were going to take it further. So, kids, if you use the Silver Top Taxi Company, never get into the cab numbered 3887, you'll regret it.

And the sad thing is that I didn't feel well enough to take public transport yesterday, so I decided on a cab ride instead. Maybe next time I'll think twice.

Enough talk about this now...

So Kender, you have you're own little Nessie! Cool! Liz truly believes that there is something lurking in the waters of Loch Ness... and now you have the proof!

Oh Danie it sucks when people get angry at you and you haven't done anything wrong. It makes your head spin.

I know Mezzie, tell me about it! I was shaking for ages afterwards, trying to think if I did do anything wrong in the first place!
