Danie's off to NY, how cool! Podmom lives closer to Philadelphia than to NY, so not that short a hop to visit - although a short hop compared to coming from Oz! Hope you have a wonderful trip! NYC is a fun place, there's so much of everything.

Was just reading an article that said Sydney is like New York, and Melbourne is like Boston - showed photos of some areas that are just the same. I think we might be 'sister cities'.

Kender scary hail storm! You were smart to unplug everything. I don't think we've ever had big hail where I live. Rats about the rats! Don't suppose you can put out bait or a trap for fear of catching your own critters in there. Mice are one thing, but I hate rats!

Firefly! I was just watching the DVD of it last night (while boycotting Lost) and saw 'Trash' where Nathan Fillion is buck nekkid! How did I have this thing my possession all these years and never watch that? Nathan F is indeed a mighty fine man. He has a very cool MySpace and talks about stuff. He's a very sensible and funny guy. I didn't know he was on Desperate Housewives until just recently, but I still don't think I could watch it. I could tell he'd be very good at that sort of comedy stuff. He was really good in 'Waitress' as the nervous doctor guy. They had a Firefly marathon recently on SciFi and I remembered all over again how wonderful that show was and got out the DVDs again. I've seen Serenity mugs and glassware and Firefly lunch boxes on sale from Powerstar, but don't recall any shirts either - well maybe cryptic Blue Sun symbol shirts, stuff like that. The show got over before I even had a chance to really get fannish about it, but I know the Browncoats are all still out there loving that show. Joss Whedon is a genius and the TV 'suits' just didn't get it. Spaceships? Horses? Guns? Chinese? Huh?!

Dexter just started airing (in a somewhat cleaned up version) on the regular channel, while CBS was out of shows during the strike so saw some of that one too. Julie Benz, Miss Topolsky/Darla - back doing the strange again.

New Amsterdam is starting next week, immortal cop in NY (some Indian maiden made him immortal in 1600s, oh yeh like that happens a lot). Anyway, giving it a try! Some Danish guy Coster-Waldu in the lead. Where do they find these guys? It looks pretty cool.

Did some cleaning up around hte yard today, got rid of bit of long grass around the back of the veggie garden, and pulled out what was left of my poor beans after teh hail smushed them. Trimed some of the ivy growing on the back fence which had started growning on teh ground, still a lot of it to go. And then got even more energetic and mowed the front lawn and, having put a pile of small branches in the bin that i cleared away where i saw teh rats, had a hard time getting all the grass in the bin. The ivy and weeds have to wait in a pile till i have room for them in the bin. No sign of any rat holes anywhere..maybe they just climbed over the fence

I haven't watched Firefly in ages, must add it to my list of dvds to watch. The Firefly t-shirt i have is the one that JC made.

My cousin has been wanting to see New Amsterdam.

I liked the first episode of New Amsterdam.

Babylon Fields and Eli Stone are also good. As was the new Knight Rider and SG1 movie.

Babylon Fields is a town where the dead have all started waking up and carrying on with their lives. Most of that is going well except for the dead Sheriff who was murdered by his wife and child - they are freaking out and he suspects they killed him. (He was abusive.) It is a very disturbing show which is also kind of comedic.

Eli Stone is a San Francisco lawyer who finds out he has prophetic powers and decides to use them for good. Usually that means he hears music where there is none. Kind of like how the BSG finalé was last year. The first episode has the George Michael song 'Faith'. Eventually it gets awkward when he starts to literally see George Michael performing the song everywhere - that is when he decides to follow his vision. It is a funny show from what I have seen.

Glad Danie is having a good time OS. She said it's cold.

Here is a funny email story. Again it's nothing bad but mentions prostitutes so thought I'd better put it in the white box. Have fun if you read it.

Spoiler:
A guy goes to the supermarket and notices an attractive woman waving at him.

She says hello. He's rather taken aback because he can't place where he knows her from.

So he says, 'Do you know me?'

To which she replies, 'I think you're the father of one of my kids.'

Now his mind travels back to the only time he has ever been unfaithful to his wife and says,

'My God, are you the stripper from my bachelor party that I had sex with on the pool table with all my buddies watching while your partner whipped my butt with wet celery???'

She looks into his eyes and says calmly,

'No, I'm your son's teacher.'

Babylon Fields sound like Return of the Living Dead....except the dead people aren't trying to eat anyones brains

He he...poor guy in the story..just when you want the ground to open up and swallow you it never happens

I'm going to try and make a little door tomorrow for a small aviary that used to be a dog kennel for awhile for Whiskey, who was the dog we had before Brutus. If all goes well i'll be able to put the two quails in there, not as big as their old home but at least they'll be safe.

Well my little door didn't go as planed, its still a work in progress.

My sister was over last night and told me that her vet told her that he'd had 4 bunnies in this week with mixamutousis (sp?) which is so very bad. So i've now mozzie proofed Frodo's house, hopefully none will be able to get in..it looks really dorky and weird but i don't care as long as Frodo is safe. And i'm so buggered from doing it.

So long as he's safe, that is what counts.

I might be offline for a period of unknown time. My old Hard Drive in my PC is dying, it is over 4 years old (the HDD) and it has had many tv episodes flow in and out of it over that time, many viruses too, plus it is old for this day and age. Also, it is a dodgy Western Digital one to-boot! So I might be AWOL for an unspecified amount of time if it dies on me. It is the main Hard Drive that contains all of my data files, programmes, many episodes (like 50GB of episodes unwatched and not burned onto DVD yet) plus my Windows XP is on it ffs!

Hey Danie Good to hear from you and glad that you're having a good time.

JC that sucks. I hope you can manage to get most or better all your stuff off before it dies.

I fixed up some of Frodo's house today with fly screen mesh, the roof and one of the end sides, which looks way better than the mesh curtains and more secure. The rest still has curtains though..its gonna take me a while to get it all done, he has a big house.

Think i should probably get off-line as there is an electrical storm going on outside
