I know! That's why I was hoping 6 Degrees would become a hit and for Shiri to be a regular on the show. But it wasn't meant to be.

Chyler Leigh (Not Another Teen Movie, The Practice, Reunion) has been promoted to series regular for season four of Grey's Anatomy. Leigh, who appeared in the Grey's Anatomy finale, will be playing Meredith Grey's half-sister Lexie Grey. It was originally reported that Chyler was signed up for only thirteen episodes, but now as a regular cast member, we can expect to see her throughout the entire Grey's Anatomy season.

In related news, Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice has announced that KaDee Strickland (Fever Pitch, The Wedding Bells, The Grudge) will join the show as a series regular. Strickland will play the administrator at the Oceanside Wellness Center. There's not a lot of word just yet regarding exactly what kind of character Strickland will play, or how prominent a part it is.

It's hard to argue with either of these two announcements: you can never have too many beautiful women on television. I can't say I remember Strickland from anything and, perusing her IMDB, that's probably because I've seen none of her work. Chyler Leigh, on the other hand, is familiar to me from both Reunion and Not Another Teen Movie. Reunion was an ambitious-yet-terrible show that FOX produced a couple of years ago about high school friends. The gimmick: Every episode happens one year after the last. It didn't work. Leigh wasn't bad, however.

Not Another Teen Movie, on the other hand, is an underrated bit of teen comedy and that seems to get unduly trashed. Chyler Leigh spoofed Rachel Leigh Cook's character from She's All That, and admirably so. The movie also featured the first Hollywood role for borderline movie star Chris Evans. Anyway, you have to like all the potential that Lexie Grey has as a character. It should be a fun season.

Grey's Anatomy began production on its fourth season today.

LOL, when I saw 'Grey's Anatomy' my first thought was 'his wife and his ex are going to work on the same show together?!' - AWKWARD!

Oh well, they're all semi-grown ups and very professional, I suppose. But glad it's the Grey's spinoff instead! phew. That's wonderful news! KaDee is way too good an actress not to be in a show - I think she really stood out in Wedding Bells, even if that didn't fly.

Fingers crossed Jason will find something else good, too.

I think KaDee will be well-suited to the quirky tone of Shonda R's creations. KaDee has that laugh in her eye, a genuineness mixed with intelligence that is appealing. I hope they let her keep that Southern twang. Somehow I've always felt that Sandra, T.R., Dempsey & Chandra's sensibilities were more in tune with Grey's writing than the "ex". It's the difference between playing a role straight and sincerely, and bringing that extra something to a role which the 4 actors mentioned above do effortlessly.
I just saw that Shonda R. is involved with Pvt. Practice. Amy Brenneman is in the cast. Wow! It is to be hoped that this spin-off will have enough juice to squeeze out a series.

I agree about the three actors you mentioned and KaDee's ability to fit in with this genre. Even though I've given up on Grey's, I'm looking forward to PP.

Production Begins on Private Practice Series

Production has begun in Los Angeles on Private Practice, a new drama from the creator of Grey's Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes, featuring an all-star cast that includes Kate Walsh, Tim Daly, Taye Diggs, Amy Brenneman and Audra McDonald. The series will air Wednesdays (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) this fall on the ABC Television Network.

From Shonda Rhimes, the Golden Globe-winning creator of Grey's Anatomy, comes a story about finding a way to begin the rest of your life. Addison Forbes Montgomery is a renowned surgeon. Having left behind Seattle Grace Hospital, a broken marriage with Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd and her torn relationship with Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, Addison moves to Los Angeles for sunnier weather and happier possibilities.

Addison reunites with her friends from medical school, Naomi and Sam Bennett, joining them at their chic, co-op, Oceanside Wellness Center in Santa Monica. Naomi, a fertility and hormone specialist and majority owner of the clinic, and Sam, an internist whose self-help books have made him the "common man's medical guru," are newly divorced. They co-exist for the sake of their teenaged daughter, Maya, and their medical practice, but the relationship is hardly amicable.

The center's resident pediatrician is Dr. Cooper Freedman, whose success in his profession belies his rocky personal life. He's a serial internet dater who is always attracted to the wrong woman. Most dates end badly for him; some even end in petty or grand theft.

Cooper finds solace and counsel in his closest friend, co-op psychiatrist Dr. Violet Turner - but she's no luckier in love. Able to deftly advise her patients in their relationships, she's intense, determined, and unwilling to let outsiders see the obvious cracks in her veneer. Inside, Violet is crumbling after her recent breakup with an ex who has already moved on and married.

Dr. Pete Wilder is the alternative medicine specialist at the practice. Attractive and assured, Pete is a "catch" by any standard; in fact, he's already caught Addison's eye, and he, hers. Though the chemistry is immediate and palpable between the two, Pete's cockiness and confidence conceal a man still reeling from his wife's tragic passing eight years beforehand, a man who has been unable to truly connect with a woman since. With Addison starting anew in Los Angeles, Pete may chance new beginnings in his own life.

Witness to it all at the co-op is the receptionist, William Dell Parker. Young, quirky and confident, Dell may seem like an easygoing surfer, but he's deeply interested in the medical profession. In Addison he sees the chance to have a mentor and pursue his dream -- becoming a midwife.

Coming in direct conflict with the co-op doctors is Charlotte King, the Chief of Staff of the nearby hospital. A southerner who does not suffer fools gladly, Charlotte believes that the co-op doctors' patient care methods are unorthodox and, therefore, inferior to her own.

For Addison, an old friend's invitation brings her to a new city and a new life full of promise. At Oceanside Wellness Center, the doctors are dedicated pros; it's their private lives that need a little practice.
