Wen glad the party was such a big success and that your son could come after all.

Thanks for the pep talk - I am going to have to work from home though, because I can't possibly just not do my job for 10-12 weeks, esp for the magazine - stuff comes in every single day! I either have to work from home or they're going to have to replace me, which would be a bad thing and kind of difficult to just have somebody else come in and know how to do it. sigh.

I do have 'extended sick leave time' that adds up to about 10 weeks. But I don't know how soon I'll be up to working at home either. It's all very scary and unknown and painful. Plus my family is going to have to do all the dog walking and they are all going to HATE that.

I just think I need to fix this soon, before I can't even get to work or walk the dog or get up and down my stairs etc. etc.

MLette and I enjoyed 'Dancing with the Stars' last night - I'm glad baseball keeps cancelling 'House' because then we don't have to chose which to watch, and I'm pretty tired of House anyway. It used to be more funny but now it's more disturbing. All the dancers are doing great - no idea who will have to go home tonight. They did some team dances that were really good, too. They all seem like a pretty nice bunch. Plus I can vote for them with my cellphone and use up some of the skazillion dollars in rollover minutes I have on there.

'Castle' is so good - it's good every single week. The red haired girl who plays his daughter is such an excellent actress (and has such gorgeous hair too). And Nathan Fillion is such a hoot, the character he plays. And the mysteries are different/ well done/ interesting.

They all steal stories from one another - I was watching an episode of 'Eureka' where they had the plant that sprayed pollen on people and made them act crazy - that was a Star Trek episode in the 1960s! (And who knows, maybe the ST people borrowed it from someplace earlier).

I got that People magazine about New Moon and all the ads in it were for different vampire book series - I guess people are cranking those out now, hoping to jump on the 'Twilight' popularity. I wonder if any of them are any good - it would be nice to have something else to read!

The 'New Moon' TV commercials are awesome - so exciting! I just hope they aren't giving away too much of the movie. I think the CGI wolves are going to look pretty good - they couldn't really use real wolves or suits because they are supposed to be 'wolves the size of horses' - big big BIG wolves. (Big bad wolves - giggle). Chris Weitz' movie the Golden Compass was lousy, but it had a lot of CGI animals - that's probably how he got the job.
* * *

Next day...

We were looking forward to the premiere of (the remake of) 'V' but we really didn't care much for it.

Rod Stewart did a good job singing on 'DWTS' even though he's old as the hills now. They eliminated the nice football guy and nice Iron Chef host guy. The eliminating part is hard, because everybody is pretty likeable. I predict Aaron Carter and Kelly Osborne go home next week (the blondes).

hey guys

I am having trouble getting LaLa time...probably because I amfrantically fitting life in while mom is gone. Went to an art show at the Delaware art museum with a good friend....loved the permanent collection of Howard Pyle....but we went to see Maxfield Parrish....and it was all prints...one tiny original but we had fun anyway.

We have comcast and had to get all these little boxes for all our tvs.....can't get the tivo to work with the box....had the comcast guy here for a long time last night...still not working....very frustrating...you guys know I love my tivo

Glad Lainies party was a hit and that even #1 son got to come Wen sounded lovely!! You should be a party planner Does your hair still hurt from your yard work

ML Gosh all that sounds scary about the knee surgery I guess sooner is better for that stuff....my sis in law had a knee replaced.....she is good now...it was tough for awhile.....do all the therapy without fail...my uncle didn't cause he was dumb and his knee never got unstiff....hers is great Your bosses wouldn't know what to do without you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Podmom! Everybody seems to say it's tough but worth it. I'm waiting for them to call me back about it, but so far I haven't heard a thing. Hope she didn't forget I called.

MLette is such an angel - she said she would take family medical leave and look after me, once I get home from the operation and the rehab stuff! She is just the nicest person ever - I am so blessed.

The logistics of how to manage it, work from home, etc are boggling my mind. Plus I only deal with one thing at a time and there's all the holidays to get through before then - hoping to schedule it for mid January or early February. (worry worry).

Mr Boss gave me a pile of stuff and I thought it was the horrible chapter but it was just a zillion slides he wants me to make. I get slides to do maybe once a year and by then I've forgotten how to use Powerpoint! Have to teach myself/figure it out all over again.

On the bright side, I've been making good progress with the pile of papers, and they haven't accepted too many recently - I'm trying to get caught up, but it's like running in quicksand!

Podmom I'm glad you are getting a lot of 'me time' and seeing art museums etc. There must be a way to get the cable box to work with the Tivo box! Frustrating.

The New Moon folks are going to make a skazillion TV appearances - will have to set the VCRs and hope for the best. We taped 'Eastwick' and at one point the picture went out, and for another long stretch, the sound went out! We got the gist of it, but it was annoying. Rebecca Romjin (-Stamos-Oconnell) is such a terrific actress-comedienne - who knew? I thought she was just a gorgeous supermodel. Sybil Shepard as one of the old witches is a hoot too. Funny show. But as I said, I'm a bit uneasy with the devil/witch evil side of it.

We watched 'Supernatural' last night because it was another funny/Trickster one, like the Groundhog Day episode - I've only watch a couple of those shows, because the show is too scary for me usually, but I saw the Groundhog Day one twice. :> They were trapped in various TV shows and it was hilarious.

But oy, way too much TV watching Eastwick and Vampire Diaries and Supernatural and Mentalist! Vampire Diaries is getting better/growing on me. Paul Wesley looks so so skinny though - too skinny. As Wen said, angsty doomed teen love - hard to resist! Damon did such an awful thing last night. I used to like Ian S but I may start disliking him, his character is so evil (and smirky about it).

Friday!

ML funny...I just watched VDs..oops that could sound bad and I'm loving Ian in this....it feels to me like he is doing it just a touch over the top...tiny bit campy...which helps me like it....funny is less scary....well not really funny ..but yes smirky... for me it's working....he's my fav part I think....I'm going to stick with it awhile more) you might have said....and I missed it but why are you doing the knee at the sliperiest time of the year? WHy not do it in the early spring....just imagining crutches on the ice and snow well podad got the tivo working but because we need to use the box to link it all and switch channels...the tivo will tape but it has to turned to that channel...so it can't tape while we watch other channels....which we are so so used to.....we can watch Viv stuff whatever....while my shows download.....plus I never ussually watch shows in real time so I don't see commercials.....darn old tivo and new CC box interupting my well oiled TV watching regime

one of my MOPs girls is going to Harrisburg to see NM with her fam and friends that are into it.....I would like to see it with Em but I doubt that will work out.....I think LIz and Walter might be here then,.... they are coming for almost a week over Tgiving.....looking forward to that and seeing the movie....but I am so not ready in any way for the holidays............I am getting the holiday....way not prepared this year.....gitters ok then....off to do something ...anything

Yay to Liz and Walter coming for T-Day for a week with AnnaLee! You will get your girl time and Grandma time!

Did I mention Mr ML Jr's company is going to give him a turkey this year? They get a choice of a turkey, a ham, a kosher turkey, or a veggie lasagna. That's SO sooo nice. He just missed getting the turkey when they hired him last year, in mid November. He's having his 1-year review soon and hoping it will be good/mean a raise and a promotion. So he'll be the 'founder of the feast' this year!

I have a can of olives and a can of cranberry sauce - that's about how much I'm prepared for Thanksgiving so far. Well, I have the tablecloth on the dining table, but I have to take it off again, for Mr ML to have his poker night. I should wash it anyway, before T-Day. We will miss not having the BF with us this year - that guy had a hearty appetite so it was nice to have another mouth to feed, especially as my kids eat like birds. Oh well.. things change.

Was just thinking today about all the pies I need to bake! I love making pies. They sell them at the hospital cafeteria too every year. They make an apple-raspberry one that is pretty unique. But how many pies do 4 people need? (3! Or 4! LOL!)

We have the same thing with the VCR and the cable box - you have to tape what the TV is set to now, so you can't tape one thing and watch something different. And you have to remember to turn off only the TV and not the cable box, so it tapes the show. Yep, this modern technology sometimes makes things LESS convenient!

Hope you get to go see 'New Moon' amid all the holiday preparations and family coming home to nest. We're all looking forward to seeing it - well, except for my son who is immune to the Twi-madness. The commercials looks SO exciting!!
I just hope they aren't showing the whole movie in all the different commercials and promo things. I'm happy they are filming Eclipse now too, so we'll have something else to look forward to, after New Moon.

I just started reading 'Breaking Dawn' (again) but I'm tempted to just read up to the honeymoon part and then put it away, and skip all the angsty-ness. Such a lovely wedding!

With turning the clocks back, the work day seems an extra hour longer this week! I want to go home already! Soon.. soon it will be The Weekend!

I found out the turkey is a christmas-bonus turkey, so we'll still have to buy one for Thanksgiving, but then we'll have another on in the freezer for.. whenever! (Whenever we feel like eating turkey again).

Wow, you can't make Thanksgiving dinner with out a stove Poddy! My friend did that dent and scratch for a pricey refrigerator they wanted and got a good deal on it - it has a dent (or scratch) on the side that is pushed in next to the cabinet so you don't even see it. I hope you find one!

We went to the Little Sisters of the Poor Christmas bazaar yesterday. They had the neatest little pies - pumpkin and apple, but baked in a small rectangle, like 2 servings. I didn't really want to buy apple or pumpkin pies so close to Thanksgiving, but just a TASTE of them would be nice. They had raffles for all sorts of baskets and prizes - so far nobody called to say we won anything, but it's always fun and it helps these nuns who run an old age home, a really nice one. The woman who started that order, Jeanne Jugan, was just made a saint recently, so they are all really happy and excited about that. They also have tables of random stuff for sale - got a bag of bows for 25 cents. It's fun.

MLette and I were shopping fools this weekend - she took today off, too. Yesterday we went in serach of a catalog outlet store that had sent us postcards they were opening - they were opening but didn't have any signs up in the mall they were in! We found them, eventually but didn't get anything. Then MLette tried on a skazillion boots but also didn't find any. It's so nice that boots are in style this year, so there are a lot of them.

Anyway, we went out today to a different store and she bought herself two pairs of boots, one warm and fuzzy, one high and stylish, so she was happy. Mr ML got himself some new basketball sneakers too.

We watched 'Hoot' a Netflix movie about burrowing owls in Florida and kids trying to save them - it was pretty nice. Jimmy Buffet was the producer of it and had a small role in it too, that was kind of surprising. But then he's all about Florida. Cody Linley the skinny blond boy was in it - he was just on Dancing with the Stars recently.

I'm off to take a much needed nap! Did a lot of walking today, and have to rest up for grocery shopping later on. Hope everybody had a good weekend! :>

Hi Everyone!

Sorry to be so MIA, but MOTHER has been here, (staying over) and I've had NO ME time! UGH!

Anyway, Poddy! I'm sooo glad that Liz, Walter, and Anna Lee will be spending the whole week of Thanksgiving with you!!! I'm sure that will cheer you up Big Time!!!

I hope you got to buy your new stove this weekend too! What a time for your stove to go out!... Just before the holidays! But really, when is it a good time for a stove to go out?!

Glad you are keeping busy tho'. Keeping you in my thoughts and Prayers.

MyrnaLynne, You really do have an angel for a daughter! MLette is such a Sweetheart for taking time off to help you while you're recouping from your knee surgery. Not many daughters would do that, so you are really Blessed to have such a caring daughter.

And we always get 2 turkeys... one for Thanksgiving and one for Christmas, and it's just far away enough where we still enjoy them and not get sick of them! So hopefully your family will feel the same as mine, and enjoy them.

That was so nice of you to support that little Bazaar. They sound like such a nice little order that helps in such a special way.

Glad you had so much fun shopping with MLette! And yes, boots are Really in! They are Everywhere in the ads!

I've got just about all my Christmas Shopping done... from on line of course! LOL! Thank goodness for on line shopping! LOL! Just need to pick up just a couple more things and I'm done, thank goodness! I was worried because I was way behind schedule, but I made up for it this week, so I'm back on track again.

I've got to go as she ( MOTHER) will be looking for me soon! (sigh)

Biggest Hugs,
Wen

Wen yay to you, that you have your Christmas shopping done - I am nowhere near. Although I picked up a cute thing for a friend at the bazaar (one of those chinese cork carvings) and then when MLette and I were at Staples, I saw another cute gift for another friend (little office woman magnets) so - working on it! And of course I always see stuff I want for ME when I'm looking through all the catalogs. Found touch up paint for my car (I can order in the RIGHT color) and need to order it, so I can fix the 'measles' I did all over the hood with the wrong paint. Luckily Mr ML is car-oblivious. Gosh, if it was my dad or brother, they would have blown a gasket over something like that - very very fussy about cars. (And everything else!)

It's too bad your Mother has been monopolizing your time and keeping you jumping/away from here! But I'm sure she enjoys your company.

Poddy wow, you redid the whole kitchen, it sounds like! Sears is good for appliances and they deliver and take away and we've got stuff from them before and it has worked out okay, although they did give me some grief about installing/removing/taking away our stove, but that was a special case (our old stove was huge and our gas pipe was behind the cabinet and the wainscoting!). We were going to buy a fridge at Home Depot one time and nobody would wait on us, so we got in the car and drove to Sears.

Funny, a neighbor around the corner got a new stove and put out the old (old old old) gas range in the yard with a 'free' sign on it - like somebody would come along and take a 1950-1960s era gas stove off somebody's lawn. It was gone this morning, but I assume they ended up having it hauled away. My brother-in-law across the street redid the kitchen and he had a really antique stove and he couldn't get rid of that either, even though it was really cool. Nobody wants old stuff, they want the latest modern thing.

Love that picture with the little baby head Babies are just so adorable from every angle!

Ugh, Monday and Mr Boss was calling about his (zillion) slides that I didn't even start last week - need to do them today or tomorrow. And he's threatening to send me stuff from his book (which I DON'T WANT TO DO), plus I got the whole next issue to final proof this morning, plus finishing proofing a horrendous article that is 17 pages long and a ton of awful tables...

It was warm yesterday and supposed to be warmer today, but it was 30 this morning and chilly, so I don't know how it's supposed to warm up that much. I wore layers. The Fall colors are still really pretty around here too, all the red and golds and yellows. Mr ML raked up several bags of leaves yesterday. I wanted to help but he didn't want me wearing myself out before we got the groceries.

I have to give a second pass at the grapevine - I clipped it most of the way back, but I left the grapes and some branches/leaves. Now they've gone by and I have to trim it back for the winter, so it doesn't poke anybody going by our fence. Vines are such a nuisance! They planted one near the subway that his grown all over the fence and up and over the trees that were there and strangled the life out of them! Scary thick creepy vines. Vines are not to be trusted!

Watched 'Three Rivers' dutifully, even though it's really a bad show. Kind of waiting for it to be cancelled so I'll have my Sunday evenings free again! LOL! They do put out good information, about transplants, etc - in this one a girl OD'd on Tylenol or whatever, and ruined her liver and needed a transplant - good to warn folks about stuff like that but it's a bad show (and nobody is watching it anyway). Mandy Patinkin is going to be on next week as a man with ALS/Lou Gerhrig's disease - looks like a sad one.

We looked at turkeys yesterday but Mr ML said it was too early and why take up all our freezer space so soon. I suppose there will be some left closer to Thanksgiving!

Oh well, back at it.. Hope everybody's week is a happy one!
* * *

Oh GREAT news - we got a call and found out we won a prize at the Little Sister's bazaar raffle. We went to pick it up and it was a 'movie night' basket with 3 DVDs and a bunch of candy bars. Was also supposed to have a $20 Blockbuster card, according to the tag, which was unfortunately missing (but I know the nuns didn't steal it! Hahahah).

Our lucky streak continues!

Great photo our cousin's daughter took - worried wild turkey

You're serving WHAT for Thanksgiving?

Other great news is I just finished those EVIL slides for Mr Boss - they took 3 hours, and that's with most of them already being typed and just having to copy and paste and reformat them. What a pain.... Now I can go do all the REST of the work...

I really was hoping to win the $2.5 million lottery ticket - bought one, got $10 (the price), turned it in for another one - NADA! Lost $10 There goes my retirment plan!

Well, I have 2 season tickets to the weekly lotteries - been getting one number pretty often, but that doesn't win anything. I'm not greedy - just a million or two, so I could retire. Best I've won with them is free bets or occasionally $5.

Oh the slides were wordy things, except a couple were graphy things, which are devilishly hard (for me) to draw. I don't do it that often, don't know the program that well, so basically have taught myself how and have to relearn it every time. I usually open up an old slide and go from there.

Oh gosh then today he was asking me how to put what I did together with other slides he has into a presentation and I DON'T KNOW! I make slides - I don't make up the talks, that's the doctor's job. SIGH x 1 million. He is driving me absolutely nuts lately.

I was in such a cranky mood all day yesterday about those slides and about the impending threat of this chapter (which he has been threatening me with, oh let me seen since last May or June maybe?) I don't know why the publishing companies put up with him because I'm sure the deadlines are long past for that stuff.

Oh gosh I love buying furniture so I'd happily send you some couches. Couches are REALLY difficult to find though, the perfect one. MLette and I went on a big hunt for a replacement couch and sat on every one, in every furniture store, found the perfect one (we thought) but the stupid cushions keep slipping off/out from under you, every time you sit on it. The dog sleeps on a chair from the same set, and every day, we have to shove the cushion back onto 'his' chair, sometimes several times a day. Crazy.

For the other room, we got a leather couch with a sofabed in it (which has never been opened). That is pretty good, only when you first sit on it, the leather is COLD!

We ended up doing the same thing, Sears gave us grief so we called our own plumbing guy in to hook up the stove. Sears really falls down on service/their people have a lousy attitude. They wouldn't take our old stove either, because it was a big one with a small top oven above the regular one (like where they put microwaves now). We ended up taking it apart, hauling it downstairs, and then buying a city sticker so they'd haul it away.

I'm expecting our appliances to go any day - the washer, dishwasher, and dryer are all pretty old. That's the problem with getting to our ages - your stuff starts to wear out! (You start to wear out too).

Sorry, been feeling old lately.

MLette and I are loving 'Dancing'. Was sorry the Carter boy got axed this week(but at least he didn't cry). It's been very therapeutic for him and forthat poor Osborne girl, both from crazy dysfunctional families. They may not have learned to dance that great but maybe they got their heads straightened out/learned a few things from the experience. Len took a very fatherly interest in Aaron and was very kind to him, esp after he said he's estranged from his own father. Sad. Donny Osmond is a hoot! Even funnier than his sister.

LOL, Mr ML was all disappointed because he thinks luck comes in threes, so our first luck was on the cruise, and second winning the costume contest (which wasn't really luck - it was the best costume) and third was the gift basket so - poof -now our streak of luck is through. Hope he's wrong!

hi ML I read your comment about Aaron and dwts to Walter and Liz cause we litterally just watched last nights eppie Anna Lee is sleeping in daddys arns....I gor up with her for her 5 am feeding....then got to spend the next feeding(Liz pumped) so I've finally had baby whispering time...getting to show Liz some tried and true techniques(now that she is not stressed and knows she could learn a few tricks. They were getting a little freaked worrying baby was being so cranky....she has acid reflux.......yesterday was a good day for them....got the meds uped and grandmom came and cooked and got baby and them calmed down.....we all feel better

I'm ready for my free senior soda too! LOL! I remember Mr ML's mother used to sneak into the senior center for the activities/lunch, even though she wasn't quite old enough.

Oh that reflux/colicky stuff is difficult for the poor babies. Glad you got some hands on grandma/baby feeding time.

And glad I didn't spoil DWTS for you! It's weird this season because everybody is pretty nice and also pretty blah, so not really getting excited and rooting for anyone in particular - don't really care, where in past seasons, I REALLY wanted my guy to come in first!

Oh gosh, Mr Boss descended on me again - called up to say he'd be over in 5 or 10 minutes to drop off some work for me - ay ay ay. Then we discussed where to meet (of 2 options) and I went to wait where we'd agreed and he was looking for me in the other place! We eventually found each other.

That man just puts my stomach into knots every time I have to deal with him. And if he could learn how to attach a document to an email, he wouldn't have to come over at all (and I wouldn't have to retype this already-typed thing that he brought over to me). I'm sorry he's lost it and is out to lunch but I shouldn't have to deal with his messed up stuff. I'm not his secretary.

I know I should be patient and kind and helpful to him but.. I am just not that person. Never have been good with goofy folk, unlike my daughter.

(next day)
Well my lucky streak continues! Tomorrow is the last day of our United Way drive and if you wear the 'I gave' badge, you can meet the 'rolling rally' cart people who give out prizes if they see your badge. I figured my chances were slim, as I'm rarely in the main building, although I've been wearing the button. Well didn't I run into them today and win a prize! Got a gift card to the cafeteria. Will pay for MLette's lunch tomorrow.

We watched the first hour of Country Music awards, which was so good we taped the rest and watched 'Glee', which was a very good episode and not so angsty. Very cool, the teacher made all the gleeclub use wheelchairs to be more sensitive to the guy in the wheelchair in the chorus, plus the really mean cheering coach woman put a Down's syndrome girl on her cheerleader squad and everybody was trying to figure out what the angle was - and at the end you see her visiting her elderly Down's syndrome sister in a nursing home and reading to her - Awwwww. Made me think of Wen's uncle. Just like the people MLette's home cares for too. Really was a very nice story, plus the gay kid and his macho gas station dad had some good talks about things and lots of great singing numbers - it's a really cool show. :>

Oh I heard my Eastwick show isn't getting renewed so I don't have to decided if I am comfortable with the devil/witch themed stories anymore!

Have to clean the dining room table for poker tomorrow, plus the kitchen table is in piles again.

Did I tell you Mr ML brought home weeds/water from the pond near his work to put in his fishtank in the cellar, plus bought some aquarium plants (no fish in the tank) - and now 'things' are hatching and wriggling around in the water and he's looking in bug books trying to figure out what they are - They will fly up the heating vents and kill us in the night! well, one dragonfly hatched already (dragonflies are cool and just eat other bugs) and he let it go to fly around the cellar. I'm hoping these other ones are dragonflies too and not, oh, I don't know, Godzilla-eggs! LOL

Hi Everyone!

So sorry to be so MIA again. Just been so busy with R/L between Dr appts and MOTHER, and some NEW meds that have knocked me on my butt, I'm going, going, going, but in slow motion... so tired all the time with these New Meds (which I hate this feeling!) but the side effects are suppose to go away in a month or so. Don't know if I can put up with this fatigue for a month tho', ... we'll see.

Poddy! WoW!... You Really did your homework with shopping for appliances! Shopped for what?!... Seven hours or more! Glad you got your new stove AND a new fridge AND microwave to boot too! Everything to match!

Funny tho' how you got Free Senior Soda's when you're NOT even a Senior YET! Yes, I guess that Major Shopping Trip sure DID Age you! LOL! Glad it's all behind you now.

I'm so glad you're enjoying your time with Anna Lee and Liz & Walter too.

I was in desperate need of a new couch set last year, and MOTHER chipped in with me and I got a new micro fiber couch and two reclining chairs and they are the most comfortable set I think I've ever had! I just love them!

Now I really could use a nice pit group in my family room, but I really can't afford to be getting one right now, so the old pit group stays for awhile longer.

MyrnaLynne, I'm so sorry that Mr. Boss is driving you crazy. He's Really bothering you lately! Is that man Ever going to Retire?!

Glad you are enjoying DWTS. I myself don't watch it, but just catch the end of it when I'm waiting for my show to come on that's right after it and they all seem to be a very close knit group all rooting for one another which is nice to see.

I've caught some of their dances at the end, like I said, and Oh My Gosh!... They are Very Athletic, aren't they?! If I moved like that, they'd have to take me to the hospital! LOL! I'd get broken for sure!

btw, Loved that picture of the Worried Turkey! It Really looks Worried! Poor thing! LOL! Hopefully Worried Turkey is spared this year!

And I'm glad Mr. ML was looking out for you and wanted you stop doing yard work and go in to rest, while he continued. He seems so caring which is sooo nice of him! You've got a really sweet man there!

I saw the Pain Specialist this week and I don't know if I've mentioned this, but the pain in my back had radiated to my side/hip area now! (sigh) Well, the Dr' said that it's my sciatic nerve that's causing the trouble and he could start a series of injections which I would get every 3 months. UGH! I told him "Please, No More Needles!" So, the other option is meds and physical therapy. UGH! PT just LOVES to Torture you over there! So I'm not looking forward to That! And because I won't let him put me on addicting drugs, their hands are kind of tied too! Oh well.

I hope your family's lucky streak isn't over yet either! You deserve to win a million! Good Luck with the lottery!

Hope Everyone is having a Good Week!

Biggest Hugs,
Wen
