Wow! MyrnaLynne, you really have tall ceilings! That really must be a chore to wallpaper! I mean just wallpapering regular sized walls are a chore in itself, never mind higher ceilings!

That's really a shame that you had to do your bathroom twice with the glue not sticking with the pre-pasted wallpaper. Poor You!!!

My inside of my house could use a good painting.... as of now I just wash the walls, but I'd really like to have them painted. I'd like to change the color to a light peaches and cream as they are a light coffee now, and I'm kind of sick of that color. Maybe one of these days... but I've been saying that for years now. (sigh)

My rugs could use a good shampooing too, of which my No.1 son was suppose to do for me ages ago and I'm Still waiting for that! (sigh) He's just so busy all the time, but he needs to keep his promise... the thing is ... he never says no, but it never gets done either! (sigh)

Thanks for all the pictures Poddy. I'm not familiar with the Amish or the Mennonite either. I know very little about them as they don't use anything modern, but that's about it.

Didn't Brendan Fehr come from a Mennonite background or something like that? Thought I had heard that somewhere.

How long will you be staying in OC this time? Just curious?

And MyrnaLynne, I think that Dugger family is awful... 18+ kids... they have all the older kids raise the younger kids for them as she just pops them out and that's it and just rocks babies while all the other kids do all the work! Shameful!!!

And yes, mother Dugger IS pregnant AGAIN! UGH! Discusting!

And her oldest daughter is pregnant now too, I guess to keep up with the family tradition.

I've been enjoying CASTLE too! I really like all the characters in the show too and I think it's well written too!

HOUSE'S eppi surprised me this week! Never thought Chase had it in him! Next week should be interesting!

HEROES was good this week too, but next week should be good too! Can't hardly wait!

My tooth is finally feeling a bit better. At least the pain has let up so I don't have to rely on the pain med as quite often, thank goodness. Just every now and then, but the 15th will soon be here when they plan to rip out my tooth and I'm still FREAKING OUT about it!!! I just have this dreaded fear that I'm going to feel it and it's going to hurt like HELL! Worry, Worry! Plus I'm none too happy about the big needle that they are going to give me to numb me and how THAT'S going to hurt like HELL too!

YES, I'm a BIG BABY!!! They said that even if I went to another Dentist, that my isurance wouldn't cover me to be put to sleep! Stupid insurance!!! Grrrrrr!!!!

I am grateful that I do have insurance now, but I wished it were a better plan.

I took MOTHER out yesterday to her favorite store, (the dollar store) LOL and she had fun shopping. She hasn't been out like that in a long time, so it was good for her to get out for a change.
Then I brought her to my house, made her lunch and then she took a two hour nap, and then we visited when she awakened. Then she was ready to go home so Lainie brought her home and did some chores for her and came home in time for supper. So she was happy to get out for a change rather than just sitting in her house as she does so often because she doesn't feel like going out a lot of the times. She was more pleasant too, which was a nice change too!

She even bought a Fall Flower arrangement for her table to perk up her kitchen! Now that's Something that actually shows she has an interest in something because lately she's been showing signs of depression and has not had any interests in anything, so I'm encouraged.

If she could just get out a little bit every day instead of moping in her house all the time, then maybe she wouldn't be so negative and cranky all the time? Who's to know? All I know is she was a lot better today after going out and shopping which she hasn't done in a Very Long Time!

But of course she complained that her knee was hurting and I gave her an alleve and that seemed to help her, but she's funny about taking meds... she just doesn't like to take them! Very frustating even tho' they help her!

MyrnaLynne, have you tried your Arthritis medication yet? I'm curious to see how it's working? I hope you've tried it by now and are still not putting it off. Just make sure you take some food with it so it doesn't cause stomach upset.

I hope Everyone is having a Great Week!

Biggest Hugs!
Wen

HAPPY BIRTH DAY, Anna Lee!!!!

Oh Podmom what a gorgeous new grandbaby! How exciting! You said the baby would come in October, but somehow I wasn't expecting her so soon! WOW!

A million congratulations! Anna Lee is a lovely name, too, very soft and gentle-sounding. Although the people I know born this week are pretty feisty individuals. Feisty and achievers and a bit unconventional.

Here's what the Kabalarians say about Anna:

Your first name of Anna has given you a quick-minded, sensitive nature.
It gives you a clever, creative ability in art, music, singing, or drama and an appreciation for refined surroundings. Your sociable nature expresses affection, kindness, and thoughtfulness to the extent that it is difficult for you not to be affected by others and governed by your emotions, rather than by logic and reason. As you respond to love and encouragement from others, your romantic and dreamy nature can easily lead you into love affairs.
Although the name Anna creates the urge to understand others, we point out that it causes you to be emotional and temperamental.

WHAT A BEAUTY! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy Grandmotherhood!

Wen that's terrific that you got Mother out for a little 'retail therapy' and she seems more perky and taking an interest in fixing up her place etc. Growing old is no picnic and sitting around and being bored and grumpy is hard. It's too bad she doesn't participate more in stuff going on at that place she lives.

My problem with decorating/renovating is we have so much furniture and stuff cluttering every room, I can't even imagine how we'd move it away from the walls. I want to do something with the living room walls (ancient wallpaper in there) and repaint the ceiling but there's a sofa, a table, a fishtank, a piano, a bookshelf, a bookcase, my son's computer, the TV, a bureau,, two rugs... you get the picture! I also want to replace the floor in the office too and change the walls, but that room is packed solid with junk, you can't even see the floor! (We still have the BF's stuff in there from when he got kicked out of his last apartment.. long story. sigh.) I just don't know where we'd put everything while we did it. I guess we'd have to rent one of those storage units /POD things, and lug everything downstairs and outside and put it in there. I'm exhausted just thinking about it! LOL!

Glad to hear you enjoy 'Castle' too! I watched it twice because we taped it for MLette and she watched it yesterday. We also watched the hour of Dancing with the Stars we'd missed/taped, and then the results show. So far I've agree with everybody they're eliminating. The judges definitely have their favorites though. I was glad the old political guy had the sense to stop, if he'd hurt both feet so much. Those old bones aren't made for dancing, I guess.

Oh I just dropped off the prescription (finally!) last night Wen, haven't started it yet. It's just another NSAID. I read about it and for some people it's fine, others have scary side effects - nervous about it already.

Poddy: Thanks for running over to the OTOs with your oh-so-happy news! Congratulations! Anna Lee is so cute and just adorable!

What a scary start, though! Thank goodness she signaled loud and clearly that she needed to be born NOW!

And now you can all bask in her loveliness and take deep breaths of that wonderful baby smell and nuzzle and cuddle her to your heart's content. Welcome to grandmotherhood!

Hey, ML and Wen!

I enjoyed the pix and discussion about the Mennonites and Amish. One disturbing thing I discovered in touring an Amish house in Lancaster was that Amish women hold their clothes together and their aprons on with straight pins. The occasional pricks are supposed to remind them they are the sinful daughters of sinful Eve. For me, that kind of took the romantic glow off their simple life.

And speaking of religion, ML, your long service reminded me of when we went to our neighbor's bar mitzvah. No one told us we didn't have to be there from the beginning of the 3-hour+ service, and the only other one I'd attended before that was at a Saturday evening service (forget what it's called) that was a lot shorter. Once my older son's friends started turning 13, we got to be experts.

Mr. ML and Mr. LTL seem to have a lot in common on the home repair front. Willing but not so able. Mr. LTL has also put a lot ($$) into the flowers in the front yard.

Wen: It's great that you were able to get your mother out for some retail therapy and she enjoyed it. I got to the point where I would bully my mother into doing things. If the day was the least bit gray, never mind rainy, she'd always try to cancel plans. I'd drag her out, and she always felt better and thanked me later, but what an ordeal!

That's a whole lot of dental work they're proposing all at one time. I think dental surgery is just like other kinds -- it's a shock to your system that you need to recover from, even if the surgery was easy. That being said, I've had a lot done, generally not being put under, and lived to tell the tale. Some of the dentists, periodontists, endodontists, are brilliant with the needle and it doesn't hurt much at all. I hope it goes much more smoothly than you fear.

As for me -- We've been going to see my grandson every 2 to 3 weeks. He's 10-1/2 months now and on the verge of walking. Such a cutie and such a sweet disposition. I'm still surprised that my son and his wife let us come that often, but they seem to welcome us.

We've been doing some fix-ups and renovations around the house, and of course everything goes more slowly and comes with a higher tab than you expect. We're taking a breather now after the agony of getting a deck built.

And to Roswell and to all our Ros-friendships. What a wonderful experience!

CONGRATULATIONS PODDY!!!

Anna Lee is Beautiful!!! And what a pretty name too! My middle name is Ann! Pretty close, eh?!

I'm sooo happy Momma, Daddy, and baby are all doing fine too!

I'm sooo happy for all of you! What a special Blessing to your family!
Thank you for sharing her picture with us!!! She really is absolutely Beautiful!!! So pink and perfect!!!

Enjoy your new grandbaby, as I'm sure you will!

MyrnaLynne, I wouldn't even know what to do with my furniture if we were to paint too! I mean it all wouldn't fit in the middle of the rooms... I have way too much for that to happen too! And my spare room is full to capacity too, so that's out. And my garage is a nightmare, thanks to my kids! Grrr! I need to do some chucking out of a lot of stuff, but I just don't have the energy. (sigh)

I need to rent the biggest dumpster that the city offers, but they want like a thousand dollars for a weekend! And I don't have that kind of money just hanging around for that! So, either we rent a BIG u-hall-it truck and go to the Dump and work our arses off, or it's the city's dumpster and work our arses off,... either way, I'm just not up to it. (sigh)

I just got off the phone with our car insurance lady and she offered me a Great Deal on our car insurance and house insurance if we combined the two because right now we have our house insurance with another company. It was cheaper at the time to split them, but now they're offering a terrific deal! Nearly saving over $500.00 a year if we combined the 2... cars & house! They NEVER offered that kind of break before so I'm going with them this time.

I know my house insurance place isn't going to be too happy, but I know they won't be able to match it because they've quoted me on saving before, but Nothing like that!!! They must be really desperate to give me such a good deal! LOL! And they're also giving me the monthly payment plan, which I like too! And no money up front either! Just going to tack it on my monthly premium! How cool is that?!

Hi LTL!!! It's sooo good to see you!!! Yes getting MOTHER out did her a world of good and it really perked up her spirits for a change... better for her attitude which was better for her AND me!
Please don't be such a stranger... I miss seeing you around here!

Oh, Lainie took the pictures of my new end tables and of my decorated fireplace so I'll post those now.... my decorated fireplace...

my new French Bistro End Tables...

Biggest Hugs to All,
Wen

Wen those chairs look so comfy and so cozy, I want to come right over and sit down! Very nice pix of your place. I've never seen tables like those, they are very nice.

They have some cleanout services here, who come with a truck and haul things away for you - but maybe they just take everything, and you can't pick and chose what they take, like emptying a basement or a garage. I agree - way too much work!! And I am such a pack rat - my neighbors throw stuff out and I have to fight with myself not to drag some of it home.

Great deal on the insurance too. All the insurance companies seem to be battling for business lately. They deregulated car insurance in Mass. and a whole bunch of new companies came in and they all promise a better deal. Who knows?

I am mad though, my other credit card just wrote and is making the fixed rate variable and cranking the interest sky high too. And if you don't like it, well, they'll close it for you! That stinks.

Wow Podmom the poor baby with the cord around her neck TWICE! What a blessing they got the signs it was time for her to be born and everything worked out safely. Scary there for awhile. She is such a cutie pie. Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! Of that's awful about the swine flu scare in DC.

I heard the Backstreet Boys got together and went on tour and one of them came down with swine flu, I think in Japan? Gee, it really is always something to worry about lately, isn't it? I hope everybody can get in to see the new baby. So exciting!!

Sorry Scottie I forgot (or didn't know) tha you have a grandbaby already, so Anna Lee can't take the crown as the first JOF grandkid. Oh well, like Avis she can be #2 and try harder. And he's already trying to walk! They grow so fast. My son was an early walker too, never really got good at the whole crawling thing.

I am having a lot of grandkid envy right now! My kids don't even have boyfriend/ girlfriends, never mind spouses or kids on the way (yet). Oh well, that's how it goes...

We're going to visit Aunt Millie tonight - she loves Dancing with the Stars too, because she was a dancer/dance instructor and she watches it with all her daughters. Plus she wants to hear about our cruise. We love to visit her but it shoots the whole evening - get home in time to take the dog out and tumble into bed!

And a quasi-holiday weekend coming up! I think we all get Columbus Day off. I have to put away the summer clothes this weekend - lugging all that stuff up and down the stairs.

My seaon 2 of 'Blood Ties' showed up last night - but no time to watch it yet!

ML - that's LTL's baby grandson, my kid better not have any babies yet! LTL has The Perfect Grandchild (that's what we call him!).

Congratulations to Podmom and family on the birth of Anna Lee!!!! I breathed a huge sigh of relief to hear that the baby is fine and healthy and so gorgeous!!! Honestly, some babies aren't so cute, they go through a lot when they're delivered, but Anna Lee's perfect. So happy for your family, Podmom!

I've been busy lately, sorry to be MIA and missing Roswell's ten year anniversary! Can you all believe it's been ten years already???

ML - we're biting the bullet and refinishing our hardwood floors and it's a beast of a job. We're moving out completely from one level of our house and having the yucky carpet pulled up and the floors refinished. It's a horrible job, moving your whole life out of the house only to move it all back in a couple of days later. I think I'm crazy to do it, but I really want the floors done. We can't rent one of those POD things b/c our driveway has a serious slope to it and they can't deliver it onto the drive and they're illegal on the street where I live. So we're putting furniture EVERYWHERE and hoping that it doesn't rain. LOL! And Hazel's about to be boarded for the first time in her life while this is going on since she can't be in the house and we have no one to take her in. But she's going to a "spa" dog hotel and she'll even have a window in her room (not a cage - a ROOM!!!). I hope she'll be okay.

LTL - good to see you here, I miss seeing you!

Wen - sorry you've been having dental worries, I hope I never have to have a root canal, I hear they're awful.

Gotta scoot, just saw ML on Facebook giving Podmom congrats so I had to come see what's up. Hope to BBL! Miss you all...

ETA: Wen, I love your decorations! And those chairs do look comfy. So pretty!

Awww, Anna Lee is just sooo precious!!! So beautiful!!!! I just want to hold her too!!! I just LOVE babies!!!

LOVE all the pictures of her with everyone! Liz looks a bit tired, but that's her welcome to Motherhood... "no more sleep!" But I hope she learns to sleep when baby sleeps... that's vital!

But right now it's very hectic with everyone visiting and all the new-ness of it all, so I'm sure she's not sleeping much, but once she's settled in at home, I'm sure Poddy you'll make sure she gets her rest. You are such a good mother, but don't wear yourself out either!

I'm glad to see that they let Emily up to see Anna Lee! You had mentioned that she couldn't get to see her at 1st, so I'm glad that she finally got to see her!

When does Liz and baby get to go home? Soon I hope! Nothing like the comfort of your own bed and home.

I'm so happy for you and your family! What a special gift you've been blessed with.

MOTHER Sends her love and Congratulations to you and your whole family too!!! :>

MyrnaLynne, Thanks for the complements! Yes, my chairs are sooo comfy and cozy and they recline too! I sleep better in them than in my own bed! (My whole 2hrs!)LOL!
And MOTHER naps quite frequently in them as well! LOL! (That's how I get me computer time while she's here!)

I'll probably end up getting a City Dumpster one of these days... that way we won't have to go to the City Dump because with the Dumpster, they just take it away and we're done! It's just the cost is outrageous! (EEK!) (sigh)

I tend to be a packrat too. Always saving everything, just in case I needed it later, but of course I really don't! (sigh) And my kids keep things they don't need either! Guess they take after their mother!

Sorry you have to deal with the stairs and lugging your winter and summer clothes up and down the stairs. I hope it doesn't bother your knee too much, poor you!

I hope you had a nice visit with Aunt Millie last night. She sounds like a lovely lady. Hope you didn't get to bed too late too!

Well, thank goodness it's Friday! Do you have Monday off?

I hope you get to watch your 'Blood Ties soon... Maybe on Monday if you have it off? :>

Scottie, It's sooo good to see you!!! You have been missed!
Wow!... What a Big Project redoing your floors in your house! But I'm sure they'll look Great when it's all done!
Well, it's like a mini vacation for you to stay someplace else for a few days while they finish your floors,,, gosh, even Hazel gets a vacation too, and at a SPA no less! LOL!
When will your floors be finished and your life goes back to normal again? Soon I hope!

Oh, and thank you for the compliments. And Yes, my chairs are Very Comfy!

And thanks for the sympathy about my dental woo's... I'm sooo stressed about it too!

I've had root canals done before and yes, they are no fun. But I've never had a tooth extraction while awake before and that has me sooo freaked out and they plan to do one on the 15th of this month! I just may have a heart attack and die right in the dentist chair ... I'm that freaked out!!!
Hopefully I'll survive it! (EEK!)

Well I managed to sleep thru' both Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice last night! Grrrr! And woke up 5 minutes AFTER Private Practice was over too! Double Grrr! I was sooo mad! GRRRR!!!!

I was watching Grey's and then a commercial came on and I hit the mute button and I must have closed my eyes for what I thought was just a moment and poof, an hour and a half later, the News was on! Grrr!!!!

Was wide eyed and bushy tailed after that! Grrrr!!! But I did fall asleep again around 3am till around 4am, and that was it and I'm up for the duration now. (sigh) If I could just sleep like normal peeps... (sigh)

Hope Everyone is having a Great Day!

Biggest Hugs,
Wen

Sorry LTL I don't know where my brain was, that I saw your post and thought it came from Scotti! I didn't think her son had any kids but thought maybe I'd missed something!

Poor Hazel! Our dog hasn't been to a kennel either. Thinking about putting him in a kennel over Thanksgiving and having our niece come up from college in Pennsylvania this year. It does create such chaos to fix anything in the house. I remember when we worked on the kitchen and the (new) stove was in the dining room, along with most of the kitchen stuff. It was insane. But the payoff will be the lovely shiny new floors! :>

Poddy what a perfect angel the baby is! Love her pouty face with you - they have such a peaceful life 'inside' and then they are suddenly thrust out in the world and they just don't want to be disturbed! It must be very shocking to get born - which I guess is why none of us remember it! So, so sweet and little.

I rode home next to a woman with a young baby and that kid just SCREAMED the whole trip. Red haired lady, red haired baby. She tried everything and that baby just wouldn't stop crying. I think she was hungry because she was gnawing on her fists etc. She was really really MAD (the baby), you could tell. I felt so bad for the poor mother and the baby! She tried everything to get her to stop crying, patted and jiggled and rubbed and laid her this way and that and gave her toys - nothing helped. Even when she put her in the stroller and you could see the baby was starting to fall asleep, she's go WAA and wake herself up again. Nope, babies are not easy. My son used to have to cry himself to sleep and Mr ML walked miles and miles around inside the house with him on his shoulder. He was not an easy baby. MLette went right to sleep!

Had my fancy lunch today with the publishing lady (who is off on a trip to Italy soon) and the lady from Singapore who was very sweet and nice and petite. Publishing lady asked a lot of good questions about Singapore - interesting place. (The opening sequences of 'Tattoist' are shot in Singapore.) It's a very modern place. Lunch wasn't that fancy - I had an omlette and well, an omlette is an omlette (boring). Everything on the menu had bacon or onions or seafood in it.

Didn't feel bad about the long business lunch because Mrs Boss left this morning for the long weekend!

Visit with Aunt Millie was nice. Uncle Richard (her brother in law) drove over too. We gave them each little rum cakes from Bermuda - Mr ML was very smart to buy them. I wish I'd bought a few dozen of them for Christmas gifts for his family - oh well, I didn't. We were there so late, though, til after 10. Just enough time to take the dog out and fall into bed - it really shoots the whole night, but we all enjoy getting together. She is such a charming and gracious lady.

Oh well, I ought to finish up SOME work before the holiday weekend.

I fall asleep through shows all the time Wen though usually only the HGTV ones. I wake up and it's the next show and I've missed how they redecorated or what house they bought!

We taped Vampire Diaries and Mentalist last night so we can watch those tonight while Mr ML has his poker night.

Wen Thanks to you and mom for your congrats Yes they did let Em up...twice......they are being careful but reasonable too which was so nice cause Em was really sad the first day when she couldn't go up. AnnLaee has jaundice( common...Liz had it too) so they stayed today...probably will come home tomorrow. That is good cause I needed the rest..it's been alot for mommom too

I too love your decorations! Cute new table as well speaking of comfy chairs...Liz has none in her living area ( a big couch) so podad and I brought Vivs rocking recliner up had to have something to rock the baby in. They have a soft new glider in the nursery but we needed something in the living room

Sorry about sleeping through Greys

Walter had 3 wisdom teeth removed this year and they popped right out(he was awke) and he didn't even have to take any of the pain meds......the older you are the less hooked the roots are.....I thik the anticapation will be worse than the reality.. hang on..it will all go better than imagined. Podad also has had a tooth pulled awake...he went back to work...it is creapy but hang on...it will be ok

ML about the grandkid envy...I'm sorry......your kids will find love....it always happens when you least expect it. Hope Aunt Millie is well and you had a nice visit. Maybe MrML Jr can help lug stuff It's kind of hot here today and the building turned their air off wed....ack.....good thing it is cooling off a tad this weekend. Gosh I've missed all the shows...who left DWTS?
