| Hey Everyone! ![]() Got that terrible storm I was telling you about... actually it was three storms ...one right after the other and we lost power for 28 hrs! We just got the power back on this afternoon! And the phone lines were down too! Thank goodness for cell phones! It was just terrible... 60mile+ hr winds and torrential rains! I felt like I was back home in a hurricane!!! But no hurricane here, just some awful storms!MOTHER Lost power 1st, so I went and got her and just driving in that treachery, I swear I saw the witch from the Wizzard of Oz fly by! LOL! After the power went out at my place, we retreated to my No.1 son's place because low and behold, he still had power & heat! Thank goodness he was Support, and came home early. By some weird fate, he never did loose power! And Oh, by "Support," I mean he wasn't driving a route, (or a big truck), he was just helping one of the driver's out, and was driving his own car, and just meeting the driver at the stops they had to make. (The Driver was a heavy smoker, and my son wanted no part of being trapped in a truck with a heavy smoker so he took his own car and met him at the stops.) So thank goodness he was Support yesterday, (which doesn't happen often,... usually he's driving a route because he's a relief driver.) And my No.2 son called in sick, (which surprised me, but he hadn't slept well, and the storm was so bad that he didn't want to be on the road with no sleep, so he called in), so he was home, and Lainie's was home because she's on break from school, so we all went to my No.1 son's place. My kids all ended up having a great time playing the Wii, while all Hell was breaking loose outside. But we were all comfy-cozy at my son's place. MOTHER ended up spending the night at my son's, but my No.2 son and Lainie and I came home to sleep. All I can say is thank goodness we have lots of warm blankets because it got down right Cold! Brrrr! I'm sure the dogs were happy to have us home too. Poor babies had to stay home, but at least they have fur coats to keep them warm, and at least they had each other to keep each other company. Anyway, I'm glad the storm is over, and is behind us now. Hope we don't get another one like that one again! Oh, and my roof did leak again! Grrrr! Not only in my kitchen this time, but in my bathroom now too! Grrrr! Geesh, it's been a Hell of a New Year so far! So much for Good Luck?! ![]() MyrnaLynne, I'm glad to hear that your cold is better today, but sorry to hear that MLette is now feeling poorly. Sending healing vibes her way for a speedy recovery. ![]() And I'm glad to hear that your weather is warming up, even just a little, but anything is better than nothing! And that's something that it's going to hit 60* soon! Crazy weather for January! Scottie, And I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well too! Sending healing vibes your way too for a speedy recovery. ![]() Gosh, and now that you mentioned cancer of the eye, I hadn't even thought about it until you mentioned it... One of my childhood friend's mother's died from that! So, I guess it's a good thing that my Eye Dr. is going to keep an eye on it! Geesh... scary stuff. ![]() Am missing our missing JOF's and JIT's... Poddy, Vero, Maggie, FL, and you all know who you are. Hope all is well with you all! ![]() Keep thinking about Kinsey, and how everything is going for her. Sending because moving can be sooo exhausting! ![]() Going to close for now... | Hello to all the JOFs & JITs! ![]() I have mainly just been vegging out at my place for the last few days. Did work on a painting though! And bought another canvas so I can start another one. Made a resolution to do more painting. ![]() MyrnaLynne: Thank you for the cranberry recipes. ![]() The Blood Ties books by Tanya Huff are very good. I am going to put the first one in my shoulder bag so that I can read it on the subway on the way too and from work next week. Have to go back to work on Monday after being off for 2 weeks. Going to need retraining! ![]() [[[HUGS]]] because you caught a rotton cold. Good to hear that you are feeling better now. Is weird not having that much to watch on tv. Though almost every show that I feel like watching is on Friday evening at 9pm! GRRR!!! CBC airs Torchwood then. Friday Night Lights is also on at 9pm. And so is Blood Ties! But the Space Channel re-airs Blood Ties a couple of times during the weekend... so I can catch it at another time. Wen: Good to hear that you and your family are okay! I heard about that storm on the news. Sounds very scary! [[[HUGS]]] because you had a scary eye doctor's appointment! Those eye drops do feel weird eh! It's good that you are having your eyes checked out and the eye doctor noticed that spot and the glaucoma. Hopefully you won't need an operation sweetie. ![]() And as mezz said... brownies are bownies! Brownies are a very important food group! Fearless Leader gave me a supply of very nice brownies for Christmas. YUMMM! I also won't been buying Senseless. Had enough trouble watching the White Room! ![]() Am looking forward to seeing Frost though! ![]() Scottie: [[[HUGS]]] because you also caught a horrible Grade A head cold. Hope that you are feeling better by now. ![]() I also am feeling deprived of Jason related news. Hopefully we will find out that he's working on a new project soon! I also definitely prefer a nice scripted drama over any reality show. Hopefully the writers strike will be resolved soon. I didn't know that Shiri was in Charlie Wilson's War. I want to see that film. Also want to see I am Legend. Yep... Will Smith definitely rocks! Am going to check out the Skinwalkers pix on the Obsessie thread also. [b[Kinsey[/b]: Have been thinking of you sweetie. Hopefully things are going well in your new place and your new job. | Just popping in again really quickly. Hope everybody had a great New Year's celebration. I've been working solid since the first of the year - first day off then back for 6 days in a row again. I can't complain when it's good money and I can pay off my holiday shopping debts! Anyway, I found this and didn't really think it warrented a whole thread of its own - and it may have already been posted, so sorry if it was... Looks like Jason's gone GREEN... | Aaaahhhh! Jason was in San Francisco on Dec. 18th and I didn't know about it?!!! Whaaaaaa!!! So close and yet so far! I hope I do get to meet him SOME day! Thanks Liz, for the post tho'. I'm glad he's staying active and we still get little blips of him here and there. Wish there were pictures of him at this event tho'. Ah well, the write up is better than nothing! ![]() Glad to hear that work hasn't slowed down for you, but then again, since you're independant, you'd be the one deciding that, right?! But don't work too hard! ![]() It's good hearing from you! Hope your Holidays were nice! ![]() Hey Maggie, Sounds like you've been enjoying your vacation! Good for you!!! Too bad it's already over, come Monday. ![]() Glad to hear that your Holidays were nice too! ![]() And that was nice of FL to give you Brownies for Christmas! Yes, I too love Brownies, and so do my children... guess they inherited my taste buds! And Sweet tooth! ![]() And I also love Fudge, but being Diabetic, I can't have all those yummy goodies anymore. So at least I can still make them for my family and they still can enjoy them. ![]() I still make the fudge that my grandmother use to make, except I modernized it, and use the microwave and turned it into a 5 Minute Fudge Recipe now. It's so easy now, that it's a breeze to crank out tons of Fudge at the drop of a hat! ![]() Speaking of goodies... my Daughter-in-law has decided that she needs to loose some weight since she's gained 5 lbs since Thanksgiving, because she said I'm such a good cook! So, she's on a diet now.Frankly, I think she's so thin now, but apparently her clothes are too snug on her and she doesn't like it. I should be so thin as her! With this PCOS I have, I gain weight, but can't loose it... it goes with the disease... lovely isn't it?! NOT! ![]() Did anyone else make a New Years Resolution besides Scottie? I think calling your Dad more often is a good Resolution Scottie. That's a very caring thing to do. ![]() I, on the other hand, did not make a Resolution, because I usually never follow thru', but honestly for this year, I never really thought about it. ![]() Happy New Year Everyone! ![]() Hugs to All, ![]() Wen __________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle. | Wen that was quite a storm you got! Lucky your son kept his heat and power and you had a place to go - and smart your other son stayed home if it was that bad! And you driving around in it rescuing Mother - very brave!Glad everybody was okay. We had one of the gutters fall right off the house today! Most of them are new and aluminum, but I guess some are the old wooden gutters and one of them rotted and fell right off. Guess now we have to get the gutters fixed on the house - always something! Can't leave the big hole up there or there will be colonies of squirrels moving in!LOL about fudge. Mr ML's brother across the street tried to pass on the fudge our niece gave everybody for Christmas (amazingly, his brother doesn;t like chocolate - can you imagine? He also doesn't like butternut squash but at least that's understandable LOL!) - but Mr ML told him we already tried it and threw it away! It was gross! I didn't think it was possible to ruin fudge, but she managed. I kept asking Mr ML what he wanted to do for his birthday (Friday) and he kept giving me wise, flippant answers - - so I figured maybe we were just skipping it this year. But we were at the store and I said, "So.. you don't want to do anything for your birthday? You don't want a cake or a party or anything?" and he said "Oh... of course I want a cake!" Well, duh, nice of him to mention it. Anyway, I bought a cake mix and some powdered sugar, but I told him the party will have to be Saturday (because there's a new episode of Moonlight Friday, plus he goes out Friday and plays basketball anyway). LOL - we have our priorities. ![]() We watched the Fantastic Four movie - well, I'd say it was the pretty-good 4, although the cast was good and it's always nice to see Ironing Board in something. Kind of a sloppily made movie, I thought, for all the bazillions they spent on the special effects. Why is every shopping mall exactly the same? We got Mr ML to drive us to a different mall Saturday - and we might as well have been at the same old mall, as it had all the exact same stores. B-o-ring! In fact, if you go to malls in other states or even other countries, they are pretty much the same and you forget where you are sometimes. The whole word is getting so homogenized! Yep, it's always the tiny skinny people who are going on diets to lose 5 lbs. I really need to go on a diet, but I refuse to join the herd of people who every January go on crash diets and sign up for gyms (that they never go to again by February). Of course everybody has gained weight after eating like nobody's business starting with Halloween candy through Thanksgiving feast and on into nonstop Christmas holiday eating!! Oh well - I figured we need a little extra fat this time of year to survive the winter. ![]() Thanks LTF it doesn't surprise me Jason is green, because he's a conscientious thoughtful sweetie, and of course, it's no secret to any of us that he's GORGEOUS!! __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" Last edited by MyrnaLynne : 01-06-2008 at 03:20 PM. | |||

| Gosh MyrnaLynne, I am just about to loose some gutters too! They are hanging by a thread, and they need to be replaced. I asked my No.1 son if he'd just take them off the house since they look terrible, until we can replace them in dryer weather, but he's been so busy that he hasn't had the chance to yet. I'm sure my neighbors are having FITS about the way it looks! I CAN'T stand the way it looks but I'm not about to start climbing up on my roof any time soon, that's for sure! ![]() And No.2 son "doesn't do roofs," or that's what he told me. I think he's afraid of heights and is afraid of going up there but Heaven forbid for him to ever admit that! LOL!LOL! About Bro-in-law trying to pass along the (dreaded Fudge) to you! Thanks, but no thanks, eh?! LOL! Hopefully he passes along good things too besides awful things your way! And LOL! about Mr. ML still wanting his Birthday Cake inspite of all his joking remarks and being vague about his Birthday. And you're funny having it on Saturday instead of Friday because of "Your Priorities!" You crack me up! ![]() And about Malls... I don't frequent Malls. Usually too crowded for my liking, but it seems that my No.1 son and his wife are always at the Mall. More for my son's wife (I'm sure), but my son is easy going about it, but he does have one major complaint... He says that they hardly have any Men's clothing stores in the Mall, which I told him that, that made sense to me, because I figured mostly women do most of the shopping anyway IMHO. And he agreed, they do have just a choice few for men, but mostly they cater to women, of which he finds very unfair. But what's funny is, he says that, yet, when he goes clothes shopping, he makes sure he has his wife along, and always asks for her opinion. LOL! And yes, it's true... it is always the very thin that's so worried about gaining an ounce. ![]() Made me think of this really bad movie I had seen once... the very thin pretty girl just lived on raw veggies, and the last meal she ate before she was murdered were carrot sticks! LOL! How sad was that, being your last meal?! LOL! Had she known she was going to be murdered, she could have had Chocolate Cake! LOL! But she really should have known she was next, because that's how those movies Always go! LOL! Maggie, I forgot to mention, I think that's a Great Resolution for you to do more painting! You are so gifted! I wish I could paint! Artists make it look so easy, but we all know it's not as easy as it looks. ![]() Hmm, I checked the forcast for the rest of the week, and it's suppose to rain the whole week! No terrible storms, but rain, rain, rain. (sigh) I'm really tired of the rain. ![]() Well, I hope Everyone has a Great Week! ![]() Biggest Hugs to All, ![]() Wen __________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle. | We are having the promised warmer weather - weird to be out at night walking the dog and it still be warm enough that the piles of snow are starting to melt. It will take a whole lot of warm weather to get rid of the big big icy piles of snow we have everywhere. Our gutters have needed some help for awhile. The downspout in the back fell off years ago and we never put it back on. One section of gutters over the driveway was hanging off but I got these 'gutter spikes' from a catalog that screw into the wood instead of nailing in like the big aluminum nails that hold the gutters on (and work loose every year) and Mr ML climbed up and put those in and that gutter is back on tight now. The one that fell off was a section of old wooden gutter that we didn't replace with aluminum, but the gutters all need replacing at this point. Plus, I'd really like to put on those covered gutters that keep leaves from falling in/clogging them up, so Mr ML won't ever have to go up the 3-story high ladder to clean them out again! I was saying to him this year, as we were wrestling with the ladder and he was cleaning them (he hates heights also; luckily he's also really brave! :>), we should probably start hiring somebody to clean them, as we are just about getting too old for that sort of stuff (he didn't like to hear THAT opinion! He still thinks he's a teenager most of the time! LOL!) I have no idea how much new gutters will cost but I'm sure it's going to be a small fortune. And they probably can't fix anything until spring - not going to put up the ladders on a mound of snow! We might need to nail something up there temporarily - I don't want the squirrels to see a big hole and decide to move in (again).Yes, he was being a brat about his birthday and I was getting annoyed. I just wanted to know if he wanted to go out to dinner, when he wanted his party etc, so I could make plans, and he was being all wise and flippant about it - said he might take himself out to a movie (by himself) etc. I was just at the point of 'Fine, you don't want a birthday, we won't bother then!" If he's not interested in his own birthday enough to give me a straight answer, why should we go to any trouble. ![]() Our mall has stores for men - the suit store, Abercrombie, gadet store, some others with men's clothes and men's shoes, groovy skaterboy type clothes, but it's true, there are more that cater to women, because women shop more. I don't know how shoping has become a recreational activity but it has. Oh well, the mall is indoors and it's a nice place to stroll around, look at stuff, get something to eat in the bad weather. In fact our favorite restaurant is in the mall (Calif Pizza Kitchen). Although they took the pizza MLette likes off the menu (I liked it too). And she just went to Outback, and they took the fried mushrooms she likes off the menu too! She hasn't had much luck lately, and as a vegetarian, the choices she finds at most restaurants are pretty slim - you can't eat salad 24/7! OK, mountain of work, I suppose I should get back to it. Two big projects so big they are both freaking me out so I thought I'd come by and rest my brain first! I forgot the Dwar DVD was coming out soon. That was such an odd movie. Mr ML and MLette thought the part with the FBI agents grabbing guns and marching down the hall of FBI headquarters was hysterically funny. Movie was a weird idea of what a Korean guy thinks the US is like. A lot was 'lost in translation'! ![]() But it did star Jason, and that is a big plus, and it was pretty exciting (if mystifying). __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" | |||

| Hi Everyone! ![]() Gosh, where is Everyone?! Olly Olly Oxen Free! Everyone can come out now... ![]() Well, it's still raining here. Not like before with the torrential rains, , but just raining steady. It's suppose to rain all week. (sigh) I'm really tired of the rain already! (sigh)A little rain is OK, but not all at once, and this long because that's when we have to worry about floods! And there are quite a few areas in town that flood like clockwork when it rains... mostly peeps that live by the creek. Glad I didn't buy a house by the creek because that area Always floods! ![]() I went to see my GP and we got talking about the blackout and he said that he lost power at home from 8am to about 5pm...(his wife was keeping him up dated), and the funny thing about that is ... he only lives like 3 streets over from my No.1 son and my son NEVER lost power! He was really shocked to hear that! And he was really shocked when I told him about me having Glaucoma too! He could barely believe it! He imediately began to look at my med list to see if any of them could cause a higher risk for developing Glaucoma, but he didn't see any that did. I didn't even think of meds that could be responsible! My Doc is one smart cookie! He definitely wants me to keep him posted on everything, and every medication that my eye Dr. puts me on.__________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle. | Hey all!!! I've finally found a moment to stop by... I havn't read anything yet but I'm sure there's a lot to read.... The last week has been really messy. Lest start with th fact my grandma got out of the hospital yesterday after having some sort of a hemorrhage in her brain. It wasn't a big one which is why they didn't operate her and only gave her medication. Sh just started throwing-up on Saterday night after coming back from a Shabath away. So in the beginning we didn't get to nervous but then she got really pale and didn't stop so my mom called a doc. over and he send them to the hospital. The doc.s in the ER were horroble (I wasn't there but my mom told me they wanted to send my grandma home and were only willing to admit her at 7am after she just threw-up all night long!). They just kept saying it wasn't anything serious and wanted to send her home. But then when she was finally admited one of the docs. found out the hemorrhage. Thank G-D my mom wouldn't go home. I mean they were horroble! I'm definitely planing on writing some serious letter to the hospital! My grandma could have been in a serious problem if she wasn't at the end (after a really long night) admited! ![]() I'm totally furious on that doc who wouldn't admit her and wouldn't even do anything but take an x-ray of her lungs. Like that was the only possibility and the only thing to check! ![]() Well she's ok now thank G-D! She recovered fairly quickly. Even her doc (the good one) said he's very surprised that she recovered so quickly. She's walking slower then she usually did but she is walking which is great and she talking and eating normaly. We are definitely lucky that it wasn't a much more serious hemorrhage. Anyway everything is ok now... but those were a few very hard days. I'm gonna try and catch up now... let's see how long will that take. ![]() __________________ Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.----- Baz Luhrmann You don't have to be crazy to be my friend.... | VB oh that's horrible about your grandmother! How weird that the only symptom the brain hemorrhage gave was throwing up - the human body is so mysterious! And those ER doctors! They were the same way with my mother when we sent her to the hospital - they thought we just were trying to trick them into babysitting for her and they didn't want to admit her, kept walking by the room giving us mean-faced looks (one nurse was really mean). But then they did some tests and found out she had stuff wrong with her, but it was like they were doing you a favor! Anyway, very lucky your mother was stubborn and knew something serious was wrong with Grandma and didn't let them send her home and maybe - G-d forbid - die from that! I know a woman, her husband had a terrible stomach pain, the ER told her it was just a stomach ache or flu and sent him home, and he died, because it was a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm - he was like 35 years old and dead because they couldn't be bothered/didn't check it out. Anyway, I'm glad your grandma is doing better and HUGS because that kind of stuff is very scary and worrisome! I wish her a speedy recovery!Wen I was wondering where everybody disappeared to also yesterday - but I felt funny if I just kept posting and talking to myself! LOL! You had the rain, we had warmth! It almost went up to 70 here yesterday. People were sitting outside and just soaking it up, it is so unusual to get a hot week in January, especially after the cold and snowy December that just got over. A lot of the snow/most of the snow melted, but some of the really big icy piles are going to take forever to go away. But it felt so good! It's still very mild out and people are just sort of feeling like: Ahhhh!Did anybody watch the (bizarre) People's Choice awards last night? Katherine Heigl got one - it certainly is her year, this year. (She just got married to that hairy musician boyfriend Josh whoever Dec 23 too in some ski resort in Utah. Wish them well/hope it lasts!) She and the Grey's people and everybody gave lots of plugs to the writer's strike. The mcDreamy guy won too - he seems like such a nice guy/decent man. Just had cute twin boys he gave Irish names to. My new show 'Moonlight' won for best new drama (sorry for beating out KaDee's new show! Sorry Jason!) and Alex O'Loughlin gave a nice (taped) thank you speech in his cute Aussie accent (couldn't figure out if he was on the beach/by the water in LA or Australia but wherever it was, it was very pretty) and he was so pleased. New guy in town, new show, nice prize from the fans! That show is so good! ![]() Too bad the writer's strike cheated him out of the red carpet and all the glitzy excitement of getting up on stage and hobnobbing with all the other stars and all that stuff. I hope the writer's strike gets over soon (at this point, one way or another, just - get back to work!) That was so totally bizarre, just Queen Latifah in a room by herself talking to the camera, a bunch of clips, and pre-taped canned acceptance speeches. It was awards show-lite, definitely! They just cancelled the Golden Globes this year. I bet Rumor Willis is totally bummed, she was going to be Miss Golden Globe this year and hand out the prizes. Oh well, there are way way too many awards shows, we could skip a few and survive I suppose. MLette and I just like to look at the dresses and all that stuff. ![]() Wen your doctor sounds like a gem. I wouldn't think about meds affecting your eyes either. I like the doctor I have now, he's smart and very down to earth and kind of a funny guy (and office steps away from our house, too). He was my husband's doctor and Mr ML is the worst patient in the world and has no patience with doctors and he also likes this doctor a lot (and the doctor puts up with him! LOL!). But with the new Massachusetts everybody has to have health insurance, all the doctors are going to be stretched very thin/too busy to see you soon. But it's good if people all have coverage; it's the right thing to do! So, the Presidential craziness is moving forward. Glad Romney got slapped down a bit - ![]() we hated the guy as our governor/thought he was slimy, why would we want him as our President, even if he has that big head, big jaw, nice Presidential head of hair. He looks the part but that's not enough! It's what's in the head (and heart) that matters! (LOL, well except in President Bush's case - I still can't figure out how he got the job or stayed in there another term...) ![]() Oh well, I hate politics - let's stick to stuff that makes us happy like Jason! ![]() __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" Last edited by MyrnaLynne : 01-09-2008 at 08:27 AM. | |||

| Whew! I finally got the chance to say hi! ![]() So much going on with the JOFs and JITs. Where to start? I guess at the beginning! ![]() LTF - thanks for the articles on Jason being green. But what about GORGEOUS? I thought the writers of the articles would certainly latch onto that! OMG and my second obsession is Stephen Jenkins. So major YUMMY! And so talented as the lead singer/songwriter for Third Eye Blind. Such a talented, hunk. Glad he's green too! Wen - ooh, such scary weather you had! Glad it's all behind you now and there's only rain. Rain does get to be boring though, you're right. Sorry to scare you about the eye cancer, but sometimes I feel it's best to know more about cancer than we really want to! It's inscidious (sp?) and creeps up in unexpected places sometimes. Glad your doctor is thorough. ML - we have those covered gutters, got them last summer. We had a snow/freeze in early December and we had the biggest icicles in the world hanging from our new covered gutters! I remarked about them to my husband, we hardly ever see icicles that size in Maryland, and he said that those icicles are a byproduct (can't think of the right word) of having covered gutters. So, you might want to make sure that that doesn't happen to you in Boston cuz we all know it's so much colder in the winter (usually!) than in Maryland. Just keeping you aware. Mr. ML and I are the same about birthdays, I always expect cake, but I hardly ever get it. My hubby just doesn't think about it. So I usually go around on my birthday all bummed because I didn't get any cake! ![]() Moonlight won an award? How cool is that? Congratulations! And congrats to Katie too, it really is beginning to be a good year for her. ![]() VB - sorry to hear your grandma had a tough time of it lately, I hope she's doing better. Maggie - how wonderful to see you again so quickly! You and ML have convinced me to read those books, I'll see if I can fit them in.Anyone watch American Gladiator? That's the one reality show that I'm watching, I think it's hysterical. I used to watch it as a young person (can't really say kid!) and loved it. I must be part teenage-boy-nerd! to Podmom and Mezz and Kinsey! Oh, and FL wherever she is!__________________ "Life is hard; it's even harder if you're stupid"--John Wayne | |||

| Hello to all the JOFs & JITs! ![]() Been busy at work this week. Though I definitely need retraining after being on holiday! ![]() Liz: Nice to see your pixels sweetie. Thank you for the articles. Very cool about Jason going green! He is such a responsible and intelligent sweetie! Wen: [[[HUGS]]] because of Jason being so close. You will meet Jason someday I am sure. I also love fudge! Haven't made any for years and years though! Used to make it a lot with my sisters when we were growing up. Made it the scary old fashioned way with a pan on the stove top. My sisters and I used to have conferences about whether the fudge was ready or not. Would drop a bit of the hot fudge into a glass of cold water and try to decide if it was forming the right type of ball or not. :giggle: That's good to hear that your doctor checked your medications and is following what medications your eye doctor is giving you. MyrnaLynne: That's scary that one of your gutters fell off! ![]() As for why every mall in North America looks the same.... I probably should blush... because I have worked on the design of stores in malls all across the continent. Chain stores like having all their stores look similar because of marketing brand type considerations. Does definitely work financially... because a lot of people do like to shop in stores where they have an idea what the clothes or whatever will be like... before they even walk in the store. Will admit thaough that that whatever has the result that a lot of malls in North America... and probably all over the world... often end up looking the same. Sigh. I like shopping in local street level non chain type stores that have their own individual character... a lot. But will admit... that during the winter... it is often easier to go to a mall. Vered: That's very very very scary about your Grandmother! ![]() I am glad to hear that she is doing better now. Good that your Mom was persistant with the doctors at the hospital! Scottie: The Blood Ties books are very good! Hopefully you will be able to find them. And [[[HUGS]]] because of the not getting cake on your birthday whatever. Here's a virtual piece of chocolate cake with ice cream. ![]() to Kinsey, mezz, Podmom & Fearless Leader! ![]() Maggie __________________ Peace, Love and Roswell | |||

| Vero, I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandmom![/b] I am sending Healing Vibes her way for a speedy recovery! ![]() MyrnaLynne, Yes, my Dr. is one smart cookie! And he is so down to Earth to and top notch as well. Also was Chief of Staff at the hospital, but decided he'd like to see his family once in a while so he stepped down from that position...so he said. LOL! He's a Great guy, smart, funny, down to earth, I just love him to pieces. Was a Great Boss too... I used to work for him too! So, when my PCP of 20 yrs. left (which broke my heart!) and I had to choose another Dr, and that's when I chose my Dr now and he's wonderful!) I've heard of the California Pizza Kitchen's Chain, but never have been, but have heard that they were really good! I'll have to try them some day. ![]() Gosh, it must be hard for MLette, to find a variety in restaurants since they don't always cater to vegetarians. And then they take her favorites off the menu?! That's really too bad since I'm sure her choices are very limited in the 1st place. And sending you (hugs) because you are swamped at work with 2 big projects to do! As if one wasn't enough! Are you going to buy D-Wars when it comes out? I'm just curious since you actually saw the movie. I never got to see it in the theater because I was on complete bed rest with my legs and ankles swollen 4 times their normal size! I could barely walk anyway... (couldn't bend my knees), so going into a theater was almost impossible anyway then. I also could see Skinwalkers either for the same reason. ![]() Geesh, being sick sucks! ![]() I mean really, there's nothing like seeing Jason up there on the Big Screen! ![]() Maggie, Thanks for the HUGS! Yes, I hope I get to meet Jason some day! ![]() And Hugs Because work already has you busy. You'd think they'd let you ease back into it at an easy pace? Fat chance, eh? Oh, and you love Fudge too! Here's the easy receipe... FIVE MINUTE FUDGE 12-16oz. Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips 16 oz. Powdered Sugar 5 TBS. Milk 5 TBS. Butter or Margerine 1 tsp. Pure Vanilla 1/2 Cup chopped walnuts (optional) Put all ingredients, (except walnuts), into microwave safe bowl, and microwave on high for 3:30 minutes. Remove and blend with an electric mixer until smooth. Return mixture back to microwave for another 1:30. Remove and blend mixture again until smooth and, (here is when you would hand stir in the walnuts if you choose to do so), then pour mixture immediately into a greased 8 X 8 pan. Let stand at room temperature to cool. After fudge has cooled completely, cut into even squares and enjoy. ![]() And that's all there is to it! Easy as one, two, three! ![]() Scottie, That really was scary weather, and I am really glad it's behind us now. Yes, now we just have the typical dull boring rain, rain, and more rain. UGH! I'm tired of the rain, but that's what our Winters are like...Rain. And I'm glad you mentioned about the eye cancer. Better to be aware of things, than not. Awareness saves lives! And I'm sorry to don't get a cake on your birthday. Maybe you should do like Poddy does and order your own! That way you'll be sure to get cake, and maybe the Mr. might catch on! ![]() Gotta run... Biggest Hugs to All, ![]() Wen __________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle. | Definitely! I usually buy my own cake, something fancy/yummy looking - I bake them for everybody else but what kind of birthday if you have to bake your own cake? Although MLette doesn't like cake anymore (maybe she never did, but was too shy to say?) so we get her ice cream cake now, and for Mr ML Jr's last birthday in September I was too sick (and stressed with my dad being sick) to bake one, so we got one from the nice bakery. But I'm going to bake and frost one for Mr ML, although I don't turn out the impressive frosting creations I used to when the kids were small (and I was a whole lot more energetic/creative). I did dog cakes and troll cakes and pirate ship cakes and Transformer cakes, a chess cake and basketball cake for my husband, etc! Now if I manage to write Happy Birthday and their name on the cake, I'm doing well! ![]() LOL, too funny you are in California Wen and never tried Calif Pizza Kitchen. I first ate there in LA when I went out for my brother-in-law's wedding and then their two chains, Cheesecake Factory and CPK, both moved into my mall. [Maggie and I ate at the Cheesecake Factory in Beverly Hills last trip, but all we saw were cute waiters. Aside from the best looking people on earth all gathered in one spot (hoping to get discovered), LA has the best looking waiters (since most of them are actors waiting to be discovered). Gosh, speaking of good looking, I saw a stunningly beautiful boy on the subway last night - kept peeking at him discreetly (he sat across from me), he was so amazingly good looking, in a young, blond, lush lipped, pink cheek, long eyelash, tousled hair, perfect feature kind of way. He got off at Harvard, maybe he's at college there. Wish I had a camera phone, so I could show you! ![]() I know... OOGY-LADY! ![]() Yeh, I caved in and ordered the 'D-War' DVD. It's too bad you were too sick to see Jason's films in the theater Wen but at least there's the DVD option (and sometimes those come with cool 'extra stuff'). I love DVD extra stuff! Although I don't usually bother listening to the commentary (who wants to sit through a movie twice?) unless it's something I'm REALLY fannish over - but I like the how it's made stuff, behind the scenes etc. Although the extra stuff on the Entourage DVDs is pretty funny, because the guys are pretty funny guys. Sometimes I even watch the extra stuff on movies I don't want to watch, that Mr ML rents! ![]() Thanks for the hugs! Projects weren't that bad, it was just me freaking out about them. Mrs Dr gives me stuff in dribs and drabs and revised them in dribs and drabs and adds more piecemeal and it drags on and on and drives me crazy, but that's just how she operates, so I should be used to it after 20 years! If she could sit down and do a project completely, and give it to me all together, and I could do it completey the first time, and hand it back to her all done, and she could revise it once - just ONCE - and it would be finished well, that would be a miracle! ![]() Thanks for the fudge recipe! It sounds very easy! I've never had much luck making candy. I even bought one of those candy/frying thermometers (because the 'put the drop in water and see if it hardens' didnt' work so well for me! LOL!) Scottie thanks for the warning about gutters and icicles! With a house as tall as ours, and as big as some icicles get, those things can be practically lethal! I remember worrying when my kids were little and played in the yard in the winter and my neighbor's roof had a big icicle the size of the sword of Damoclese hanging over them! ![]() LOL Maggie I don't hold you personally responsible for the homogenization of the shopping mall - and I think you have a really really cool job, too! All these chain stores and restaurants everywhere really has erased a lot of local flavor/regional character, that's all. I couldn't believe it, when I got to Copenhagen, that they had Seven-Eleven covenience stores! We export the worst of American culture (they have KFC in Australia - and McDonald's just about everywhere). sigh. Yes, Moonlight won for best new drama and Moonlight guy made a very charming (on tape) acceptance speech and looked extremely thrilled and happy to win. It's too bad the writer's strike is dragging on and the award shows are being cancelled - or being done in really dumb ways like a press conference announcing who won and showing clips. Also read Warner Bros is going to start laying off employees, as they don't have any work for them while not making shows - It's always the little guys who get hurt first in these things - collateral damage.Very cool PBS special on Jewish America, history of Jews in America, last night. It was pretty fascinating! ![]() __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" | |||

| Okay, you guys have convinced me to make my own cake for my birthday. Or order a fabulous one at a wonderful bakery! No more "poor-Scottie-she-doesn't-have-a-birthday-cake" kind of birthday for me!~ One year my sister felt so sorry for me that she went out and bought a single slice of carrot cake and brought it over to me the day after my birthday! It was funny.ML - my hubby was watching the Jews in America show last night. I was doing projects around the house and wasn't able to watch much of it at all, but I saw some of the old photos of the families that they were showing, saying that the families would buy new clothes and have their pictures taken and then send them back to the old country to show everyone how "modern" they were. I wish I'd been able to see more of it, I wonder if it'll be repeated? I agree, icicles are scary b/c they can get so big and hang around (ha ha) forever if it stays cold and then you never know when they're going to fall off the house. My son is snowboarding in Utah (lucky devil) and he called last night to tell us that it was blizzarding out at the resort (Park City) and the snow was waist deep. He was so excited, I don't think he's said as many words to me in his life as he did last night on the phone! LOL! I'm so happy he's having fun. I ate at CPK for the first time in Hollywood! Tigereyes and I had lunch when we were there for the first bowlathon in 2003(?). I thought it was so awesome because I saw those outside heaters for the first time. If it gets a touch cool in LA they turn those heaters on. Southern Californians must be a thin skinned bunch! But then again there are transplanted Minnesotans there who can surely take a slight nighttime chill! (Like Jason!) All hail to Oogie Ladies! LOL! Loved your spotting the beautiful boy on the subway. Wen - that fudge recipe sounds fabulous. I've made Rachel Ray's fudge before and it's delicious also. It sounds sort of like your recipe. it's microwaved and uses choc chips (as I remember). But I think it also had marshmallow fluff in it. I'll have to go see if I can find the recipe. Maggie - good post about the similarity in stores, that's so true. We have Giant Food stores where I live and you can almost walk into any Giant store in the area and they're laid out similarly. That way you know just where the bread, eggs, toilet paper and produce are kept! The virtual cake was delicious! Thank you so much! ![]() Did you all know that LTL's mother passed away yesterday morning? She'd had a fall at the end of last year and it had been touch-and-go for her since then. She was under hospice care, so she was well looked after. Keep LTL in your thoughts, she's such a sweetheart. Have a super day everyone. __________________ "Life is hard; it's even harder if you're stupid"--John Wayne | |||
