| Hey all!!! So 2008 starts tonight.... no going to do anything special.... especially when I plan on getting up early tomarrow. Hope you guys have a great time... whatever it is you plan on doing.![]() ML, that's cool that you had a good time with those Star Trek friends! It's always nice to sit somewhere and talk with old friends... even if the place isn't that good. ![]() That's to bad that you don't get some time off for New Year's.... I thought almost everyone get a day off on that day.... well not in Israel of course but in made sense that people in the US would.... guess not. ![]() Thanks for saying I've got good English. I think so too. I just wish I'd be good enough top get that job. Anyway that British woman will get me something to work with. She's a teacher so that's even better. She has this book I can learn from so that's great! I remember that commercial! You're right it's totally silly but I also think it's so sweet! I mean most guys would rather change the woman.... I just thought that guy was adorable to make his nose like that. Funny but also sweet!![]() I hope that snow storm won't be that bad! But then you know that where you live it could be quite bad.... ![]() Mags, welcome back! Happy to hear you had a wonderful time in Vancouver! mezz, I'm glad for that too! Thanks for the help! That's a cool poem! Has a good point. Have a Happy New Year's! all__________________ Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum.----- Baz Luhrmann You don't have to be crazy to be my friend.... | mezz nice poem to start 2008 and set sail on a new year! Wishing all good things to our JOFs and JITs and Jason's fans everywhere (okay, and everybody else can have a good year too). ![]() LOL, I feel like Bobby Darin: Look out, Maggie's back in town! (Mack the Knife). Heh, Jason sang that/karaoke in Happily Even After. Glad you had a nice trip/good Christmas and not too annoying travel there and back. Flying anywhere is such a crapshoot these days, it's enough to make a person stay home. Well, almost enough. ![]() VB that was a very sweet commercial, with the twist ending, that he loved her and changed to be like her. Weird, but very sweet! They had a commercial from Oz (or maybe NZ) where a guy's truck was too powerful and kept wrecking stuff and he kept saying "Bugger!" a lot. giggle. It was pretty funny too. ![]() Moonlight guy did a lot of commercials in Australia (some are on YouTube). Car commercials, etc. Did a gorgeous print ad for Supima cotton too. Oh well, that's how Jason started out too. ![]() ![]() ahem.. yep, very 'inspiring' to the senses. ![]() Seem to have recovered from the iffy Chinese food and the snow storm turned out not to be too much. And inch or so and very very slushy and wet. As long as it doesn't freeze now, should be okay. Although they called a snow emergency before the storm (parking on only one side, so they can plow the snow) and the ditzy lazy neighbor from the corner parked in the spot Mr ML had shoveled - and got a parking ticket. Nyah nyah, serves her right! ![]() I walked the dog and shoveled the stairs and sidewalk and cleaned off the cars (somewhat) and went to work - and felt like I was going to drop dead when I got here! LOL! Too much! No, I get New Year's day off - almost everybody does, just MLette has to work. But I have work today and I think Mr ML and Mr ML Jr are going in to work today too - it's just a lousy one-day off holiday. (Which is better than no holiday!) I could have taken the day off as my bosses are still away and with the snow but there's a galleyproof to read and usually stuff on Monday so - here I am! But I can still whine about it! ![]() Jason's Birthday yesterday - I still think they should put that on the calendar and make it a national holiday! ![]() Well, maybe everybody wouldn't like Eddie Izzard's comedy - Mr ML sat down to watch the video and he lasted about 10 minutes of staring at the screen with a grumpy look on his face - didn't find it funny at all. Maybe it's one of those Mars/Venus things, because the stuff he finds funny, I usually don't either. ![]() But comedy videos are definitely among the things you only need to sit through (and laugh through) once! Although when I was young, I could listen to comedy albums (Bill Cosby, Alan Sherman, etc) over and over again. __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" Last edited by MyrnaLynne : 12-31-2007 at 07:03 AM. | |||

Boy I remember listening to Monti Python albums over and over with friends I think you can listen to albums more than videos cause you visualize in your head and miss things too. Poor Mlette having to work with the goofy ppl on New Years. Good luck with the snow!!! ![]() vB Like ML said if we had to use Hebrew this would be a quiet place Wishing you a nice quiet time tonight I know you'll make my 2008 brighter of course Em is going out with friends and staying over night so no driving...I'll still worry we'll probably just stay home but I will set off some fire works it'll be a good night cause it rained alot yesterday so I won't worry about setting the woods on fire Maggie welcome home!!! | In case some of you don't make it to the Obsessie thread, I just wanted to wish a Happy New Year to all the Behrians! I know 2007 was a busy one for me and kept me away, but I still thought about my online friends and I wanted to wish all of you the best Behr-filled 2008 to come! I'll try to pop on when I can. The holidays took me out of town, so I wasn't able to wish you all happy holidays but you were in my thoughts. Hope you all have a safe, healthy and the happiest of New Year's celebrations! See you in 2008! __________________ “I’m drawn more towards independent-minded things because I think that’s where the most interesting stories are. | Boy did I miss you guys! We had a wonderful Christmas, you all would have cracked up at the amount of presents my two year old great nephew got on Christmas! Poor little thing was innundated by gifts from his Grey Grey (that's what he calls my brother, his granddad). It was hysterical. You should have seen my Scottish penny pinching father scowling at the amount of presents too, it was so funny. We had a wonderful time seeing family. Sad that it's all over, but the pressure to get a good gift sometimes makes me crazy, but I seem to have done okay in that department. Well, all except for my son, I got him some clothes and got him all size large when he's 6 foot 3 and 210 lbs. And 19 years old! He's huge now! So all of the things that I got him to wear I had to return to Target. I got him a gift card for all the purchase amount and he went and shopped with his ex-girlfriend, Emma. Remember that they broke up in October after 3 years? Well, she just might be back in the picture, she came over last night and we had a wonderful reunion. She was part of my life for 3 years and even though she ended it with my son, I still think fondly of her, so it was nice to see her. See? my mouth seems to run on and on after not saying hi to my JOF peeps for so long! VB - I have to agree with everyone, your English is marvelous! Just a few spelling errors here and there (but don't we all have those). You seem to have a grasp on many of the irritating English spelling rules though, that many English speakers don't actually have a grasp on. Like you know how to use "lose" and "loose" which is a huge hang up for lots of people. You also seem to know from "their" "they're" and "there" where lots of people don't. I do see you mix up "to" for "too" sometimes, so that might be something you'll want to focus on as that might be one of their ways to trip you up on a test. But you're fabulous dear! ML - love all your family stories, snow woes and work troubles. Just love your posts! Podmom - glad you had good times with the family and an alergy free time with the kitty. I love cats too, but my hubby can't stand them so we don't agree on whether or not to have one. I think I'd also have to consult Hazel on the issue... Mezz - that's a terrible elephant story, I hadn't heard that either! What a weird karma thing that was; I can't even imagine how that must have felt to have been squished by an elephant! Thanks for the poem, that was wonderful. Maggie - glad you had a nice Christmas with your brother. Is Vancouver as beautiful at Christmas time as it is in the summer? I just love that city. Wen - I followed the tiger story here from the east coast! Also a bad case of karma for the young guy who was killed. Did they ever figure out if the tiger had been taunted by the guys? Liz - well, as I'm one of those who doesn't get to the Obsessies thread, I thank you so much for the new year wishes and I wish you all the best too! I forgot to say to our lovely Jason! Hard to believe he's now 34 years old. I was 34 when my son was born, I hope Jason had a great day. What a whirlwind December must be for the Strickland-Behrs, KaDee's birthday, Christmas, Jason's birthday, then New Years. They hopefully will get to rest up soon.I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years. We're having dinner with my in-laws (hubby's siblings) and I'll be the designated driver and won't drink tonight. I might have a glass of champagne tomorrow though! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() __________________ "Life is hard; it's even harder if you're stupid"--John Wayne | |||

| Hi Everyone! ![]() Just a quick pop-in to say Happy New Year to Everyone! May 2008 be Wonderful for All the JOF's and JIT's!!! Sorry to be so MIA, but between Christmas and having MOTHER nearly 24/7, I've had very little computer time, or any time for myself. (sigh) I did get to exchange the coat my No. 2 son got me for Christmas as it didn't fit. Sweet kid for getting me a nice coat tho'. I've been running around in just a skimpy windbreaker, and have to admit, I did get cold once in a while with it. But I went to the store early yesterday when it 1st opened (to avoid the crowds, since I don't do crowds) and got a refund, then went to look for a nice coat that fit. I had Lainie with me to help me, but every coat I tried on and asked her opinion about, she gave the same answer... "that looks fine"... 'thanks Lainie, you're a big help!' But I finally found one, an actual coat and it's warm, fits really well, and it's water repellent too, (which is good since our winters are very rainy). It's kind of feels like a soft micro fiber on the outside and it's lined on the inside. It also has a detachable hood, which I'm happy about. I'm so glad I got that done! I don't like exchanging things, or long lines, or crowds, but this went well. I have to go for now... Happy New Year Everyone!!! Hugs, ![]() Wen __________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle. | Boy, I just peeked in to see if anybody was here and the gang's all here! ![]() LTF Happy New Year to you, and I hope we see more of you, but if you're away for work, I know that's a good thing for you as well. maxkyleshpr Happy New Year, too! Scottie I can imagine your Scottish dad's eye squinting up at the excess that is Christmas these days, especially for the kids. He probably got a candycane and a mitten (if he was lucky he got 2 mittens). LOL! My friend and I were talking about that, how Christmas and gifting has gotten way way too overblown and I don't think it makes anybody happier (than those poor kid who got a tangerine and one piece of candy in their stockings). LOL 'Grey Grey' is a great name for a grandfather - Mr ML would definitely fit that description, should we ever get blessed with grandchildren (need to get blessed with son or daughters in law first though!) The pressure to get the right thing, or at least a nice thing, or at least something the person might actually like receiving, can be overwhelming. It was for me this year, anyway. You have a BIG SON! Definitely an XL-sized son. :> And probably not done growing. What are they feeding them these days? I buy L for Mr ML Jr and they hang on him, but it helps to tell his clothes from his dad, who is a Medium. Yes, December is a busy month for Jason and KaDee with both their birthdays and Christmas and New Years! :> Is her show out on hiatus with the rest of them because of the writer's strike? I assume so. It's nice in a way, because making TV shows is so much work, but bad in a way because actors want to act. Hard thing about the cat/no cat decision. Mr ML is adamant this is our last dog, ever. He's probably right but I really like having a dog in my life. If I wasn't allergic, I'd definitely have a cat too! Cats are very cool. But Hazel might object I'm sure my dog wouldn't put up with a cat moving in. But you never know, sometimes they turn out to be best pals. Wen congrats on finding the perfect coat! I know how hard that is sometimes. I had a big search last winter when Filene's was going out of business and found a nice warm one with a hood and fake fur at the cuffs and around the hood. This is turning out to be a wet winter out here this year too. Now my winter boots have died and I need to replace them (when your waterproof boots suddenly stop being waterproof, it's a bad surprise!). I really wore them into the ground though. I only had one gift to exchange and we ended up giving it to my niece's son instead (headphones) - so of course I was out a gift! LOL! My kids were so thoughtful and got me headphones because I complained that the ones I'd bought were too tight and also way too loud (I have to listen to everything turned way down) - so they went out and bought me EXACTLY THE SAME ONES! They mean well. Of cours now that the holidays are over, we can start buying ourselves the stuff we didn't get as gifts! :p __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" | |||

| MyrnaLynne, thank you so much for the recipes! I'm looking forward to trying them! ![]() And thats funny that your kids bought you the same headphones! Yes, they meant well. Heck, I've done that myself! I've gone and bought the wrong thing twice more than once! LOL!And it is really so true about the amount of gifts given now compared to the gifts given of years past. Now the kids get tons of gifts where as years ago, like in my case, I got ONE gift from my parents and ONE gift from Santa, and my stocking ONLY had a couple of tangerines, some walnuts, and some hard candy in it and that was it! And I was thrilled to get it!!! But I admit it, I've gone over-board on the gifts I've given my kids for Christmas... altho', in my house, Santa still only gives ONE present, (a big one, but still just one) ![]() I'm so glad everyone had such a nice Christmas! Mine was really nice too, busy, but nice. ![]() Oh, I didn't tell you all... I almost didn't get my new chair for Christmas! I kept waiting and waiting for the store to call, but as the days drew nearer to Christmas, they weren't calling, so I called them, and they said that it hadn't come in yet! I needed the chair because I had already gotten rid of the couch that was there, and put the Christmas tree up, and the chair was to go on the other side of the tree. I had it all planned and they were ruining my plan! ![]() Two days before Christmas and I called again (making a pest out of myself, I know, but I was frantic!), and finally after a long wait on the phone (15 minutes!) they came back and said it had just come in, but they could deliver it until the next day! No, no, no, that wouldn't do! I had to have it that day because I was too busy on Christmas Eve, so I asked if I could go get it, and they said yes! ![]() So, After No. 1 son got off of work, we went down in the small pick-up and got it, and it fit perfectly on the other side of the tree! I was so thrilled!!! ![]() It's so comfy and I absolutely LOVE it! Now of course, that's the favorite seat in the house! LOL!I plan to get another one but maybe in a month or two and place it where the tree is now, and put an end table in between the two. That way it will look balanced. MOTHER said maybe she'll get me it for my birthday (in Feb.) but I told her maybe we could chip in again like we did with this one, and she said that sounded Ok to her. So I won't have to wait really too long after all for the chair. Hopefully it will go on sale again, but I think it will because the salesman said they go on sale all the time, especially after Christmas! I hope he's right, because that would be really nice! MyrnaLynne, Good Luck buying some nice waterproof boots. Oooh, I know what you mean... I can't stand when my feet are wet and cold and I have to work like that! Grrrr! (Shiver! Brrrr!) When our terrible neighbors moved away and left their poor kitty (Krispy-Kreme, no kidding that was her name!)behind, we took her in, even tho' we had two dogs that didn't like kitties. We had to keep them separated, which was kind of a hassle, but we had to do it. That kitty was the sweetest little thing, and gave so much love in our lives. We only had her for a few years and then she passed away, but what a good loving kitty she was. Liz! It's sooo good to see you!!! May you have a Wonderful New Year Too! ![]() And Happy New Year to Everyone!!! ![]() Wen __________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle. | Wen got her chair for Christmas! They were probably afraid to answer the phone, you called them so much. ;D That's a good idea to get two chairs and a little table in between. I'd like to replace our sofa - the cushions always shoot forward out from under you - we are forever pushing them back, I have no idea what's wrong with them but that's how they made them. And the big chair we got to match/coordinate (it's a love seat and big chair) - same story. That's the dog's chair and we always have to push the cushion back on - and he keeps pulling down the slip cover I have on it and now he's worn a hole in the top of the back (where he looks out the window). If it gets much worse - he's going to be out his 'dog bed'!Woo, made it through the day of work - found out the guys stayed home after all today. People were pouring in to town to go to First Night as I was trying to get home on the train. Being outside at night in the winter with a pack of strangers - not for me!!! Although I suppose seeing the ice scupltures and the fire works would be nice. I like to spend a nice quiet New Year's Eve at home - always have. My parents used to go out to fancy parties. If you don't drink, there really isn't much to do on New Years imho. ![]() Still HAPPY NEW YEARS! ![]() __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" | |||

| Well, Happy New Years everyone. Now that the US has caught up So glad you got your chair Wen. Sounds like you'll have to fight to actually sit in it though ![]() I had a very quiet NYE. Watched the fire works on the telli and chatted on the comp for most of it. I'm not much of a party goer. __________________ | |||

| Was thinking that in Y2K I was in a chat with some Roswell fans in Australia, and they got New Years way ahead of us - and nothing happened, so I went into New Year's Eve of year 2000 very confident that everything would be fine! (Not that I thought anything would happen and all the idiots buying woodstoves and stockpiling whatever for the end of days weren't being silly.)LOL, Mr ML didn't realize TONIGHT was New Year's Eve, even while sitting there watching the Twilight Zone marathon and all the stuff usually on at New Years. Calendar impaired/oblivious much?![]() I am so tired I might not make it til midnight, which would be a first. MLette has work tomorrow and she already went to bed. So we can't have our family toast at midnight (usually toast with sparkling grape juice or sparkling cider - our 'sham' champagne).Oh looks like CBS changed its mind again and this Friday is going to be a rerun of 'Moonlight' (3rd episode) instead of the new one we were supposed to get this week and next week. I guess the strike is dragging on longer than they expected or something. sigh. On the good side, I heard that Lifetime might begin re-airing Blood Ties in February! __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" | |||

| Happy New Year to all the JOFs & JITs! ![]() Sending out wishes of all the best for 2008! Spending a quiet New Year's Eve writing email and posting, etc. ![]() I had a great time in Vancouver. Did some shopping, hung out with my brother and sis-in-law, saw my cousin, rode around on the Sky Train and the sea bus took some pix and had a very nice Christmas dinner and got some cool presents. Though of course my older sister gave me some ceramic stuff that she had made and my sis-in-law gave me one of my grandmother's bone china tea cups... which totally fulfilled the typical have a carry on bag stuffed full of fragile and extremely breakable whatevers that my family usually inflicts on me. ![]() And yep... as MyrnaLynne mentioned... I did take that pic. It's of McGill University... just before the holidays. I took it a few years back. Vered: Have to echo what others have said... your English is very good! As for sites with stuff to brush up on grammatical whatevers... the BBC has a good section. Here's a link: BBC Learning English | Home page Podmom: Love the elephant with running shoes gif! Christmas with a large family definitely can be a great deal of fun! When I was little we often had 15 or more for Christmas dinner... and then would have the exact same people over for New Year's Day! Definitely can be a lot of work though. My Mom used to start doing the Christmas baking weeks in advance. Great that you got to see your band! And [[[HUGS]]] because of the song bringing up memories. Music can really do that eh.... touching emotional places. ![]() And yep... that blue convertible definitely makes me think of the very very sexy season 3 Max! ![]() MyrnaLynne: Your cranberry upside down cake sounds like it was totally scrumptious! I love upside down cake! My Mom used to make apple upside down cake, peach upside down cake, cherry upside down cake, etc., etc., etc. She never made cranberry upside down cake though. Sounds very tasty! But then again... I totally love cranberry sauce in any form! Totally hilarious that both your son and your daughter got you the exactly same pair of head phones! ![]() I also am loving Blood Ties... both the tv show and the books! Read all the books one right after another. Am going to reread them all... because I read them so very fast. And it's the same for me... Blood Ties is the only other show other than Roswell that I really really liked from the very first few milli seconds! Your lunch with your Star Trek friends sounds like it was great fun. about the bad food. And giggle about the Mack the Knife reference! Jason was so cute singing that song! Wen: Your Christmas dinner sounds like it was very tasty! And it's very good to hear that your family appreciates your cooking and makes sure that you know that they do. Totally hilarious that your Mother got the lump of coal and reindeer poop! ![]() mezz: Thank you for the poem. Very nice! Yep... it is the "set of the soul." that's important. ![]() Scottie: Sounds like you had a great Christmas. ![]() Most of my nephews are on the large side! The way over 6 feet and over 200 pounds whatever. I always find that amazing compared to the little guys that they were when they were young! And that's very cool that your son's former girlfriend came over. Vancouver is a very very beautiful city... in all seasons... with the mountains all around and the rivers and bays running through... and all the pine trees, etc, etc! Though it does tend to rain a lot during the winter. Were a couple of days when the skies cleared and the sun shone though. I took some pix... will post a link when I get them edited and uploaded. ![]() Kinsey: Hope that you are doing well in your new place sweetie! ![]() to Alex, sirio, Liz & all the JOFs & JITS! ![]() Maggie __________________ Peace, Love and Roswell | |||

Wen, so happy to hear you got your chair on time for Christmas! I think they were scared of saying "no we can't bring it when you wanted" to the crazy lady colling about the chair. Naaaaaa just kidding.![]() I know what you mean about exchanging gifts. I don't like tyo do it either... but then if it's something like a size then there's nothing else to do. Happy to hear you found a good coat! It's really important to have a good one in the winter. ![]() Mags, thanks for the "echo" and for the link. It didn't work but I know BBC has a section where they teach languages so I'm already checking that one out. So happy to hear you had such a lovely time in Vancouver! ![]() You def right. Having a lot of people over is def a lot of work but it's also a lot of fun so you just have to balance everything so you'll be able to have fun while having so many people around. | Well, it's Officially 2008! Happy New Year Everyone! ![]() MOTHER is spending the night because she didn't want to be alone tonight, so I'm here sneaking in this post without her knowing but she'll be looking for me soon. (sigh) Anyway, I almost missed watching the ball drop in Time Square on TV because she's got the remote and has been in control of it all night and has been watching HER shows (that I don't like!) and when it came to 1 minute to midnight, I started to go into the other room where No. 2 son was to watch the Ball drop with him and she started yelling "Where are you going?!" and she got mad because I told her where, and she starts screaming don't leave, what's the channel?! So I told her the channel and she changed it to the channel with 20 seconds to spare! So No. 2 son and I watched the ball drop with her after all. And she's just been difficult these last few days. She's hard of hearing and since I DON'T like repeating myself half a dozen times, I will raise my voice to not quite yelling but louder than usual so she can hear me. Well today, she asked me why I was yelling at her?! So I told her because I don't like repeating myself, and because she refuses to wear a hearing aid! And she got mad at me over that! It's just been a tough few days with MOTHER. (sigh) Maggie, I'm so glad you had such a nice visit with your Bro' and sis-in-law. Sorry about having to fret about bringing the breakable items home safely tho'. That's stressful! So glad you had a nice Christmas tho'. And I'm looking forward to seeing more of your pictures if you don't mind sharing. You always take the most beautiful photo's! ![]() Got to go... hugs, ![]() Wen __________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle.
