Ekua how amazing that the girl you sponsor is graduating senior high school and hoping to be a nurse! What a wonderful profession and especially so needed in Africa. You must be pretty proud of her. And you must have been well loved, to have a baby named after you!

Yes, I hope everybody has a WONDERFUL Easter this weekend, and Ekua has smooth travels to her latest adventure.
- a new smilie for good luck!

Wen said it's going to be a very small Easter for her this year, as everybody seems to have made other plans (and not told her til the last minute either). So inconsiderate!

I baked Passover 'mock oatmeal' cookies last night (pieces of matzah stand in for the oats, and ground up matzah stands in for the flour) - they came out great (new recipe I was trying) and my son called (of course) in the middle of baking them. I can't imagine their little Passover seder with just the 2 of them and the 2 big dogs. Although if/when Mlette leaves home, that will be me and Mr ML, just us (and the fish, who aren't very religious).

ML......you mentioned you would love to come to the big Roswell reunion since it is so close to your son in Houston. Since I will be out of town, I haven't researched the information, but I am curious, which hotel is the official venue?

Nilo Thanks for giving us Shiris tweet. That is so cool. If Jason doesn't attend I will be disappointed in him

Ekua I thought you must be traveling and you really were!! I'm so glad you got to catch up with your dear friends in Ghana. SO wonderful to have a wee one named after you! Gosh I am nervous for you with your big trip but I am sure all will go great and it will be another awesome experience for you filled with new friends. Don't forget us cyber buddies cause we love having you here with us telling us of your globe trotting adventures and keeping us abreast of KayDee and Jason news

GLad PAssover was a smash...sorry I missed wishing you a nice one. Kinda preoccupied to say the least. I can't wait to see that DWTSs now

keepsmiling bummer about you missing that Roswell thing

So girls.... God was good and merciful and faithful to Viv and I. We did get in for her to be evaluated. It went so well. We were already going to meet her friend Grace that moved there recently. When the lady got back to me she said to meet her at 1 which was perfect cause we were going to have lunch with Grace that same day so instead of taking the old girls out we had lunch in their dining room and we even sat with ( I heard Grace on the phone with the couple and butted right in and arranged for us all to eat together) a couple from moms church she knows too . THe food was great mom loved it....it was like a real restaurant. Now mom won't get to eat in that dining area because she will be in total care floor but Grace could invite her and escort her if they wanted to eat together. THe place paid for mom and I then after lunch we met with the head nurse and the admissions person I had been talking to. They were very nice and put mom at ease. They just asked mom questions like....do you need help dressing etc. We both explained how things were. They didn't even talk together without us the admissions person just said when do you want her to come :O I have been dealing with this for so many years and it has been gradual that I realized that doing mom now is like I went to a home and grabbed a total care patient out of the place and stuck them in my home. I asked the admissions person on the quiet as hugged and were saying goodbye...are you sure the Medicaid nurse will pass her as total care? She was like absolutely...I just took one look at her and knew. So I told them June. It is almost surreal. It will be a big adjustment but Viv was really good and at first seemed kind of excited as well as apprehensive. Now reality is really setting in and it is unnerving her some BUT she knows it is way for the best and this place if so nice she also knows it would be crazy to pass and miss out and end up in a bad bad place. I will be there all the time and get her out tons so it will be very busy and stressful but slao such a relief!!!!!!! What an answer to prayer. Thanks for all yours dear friends

HALLELUJAH! I am so SO happy for you, that they said absolutely Viv should be in their home and under their care. It will be better for her to be in one place and get used to it, than to shuttle back and forth between two families of (stressed out) caregivers, too. An answer to all our prayers, definitely!

I like that they don't move them around when they need different care, like most 'continuity of care' residence places - the less disruption the better, for very old people. And her friend Grace is there, and ladies from her church are around - it's the best place for Viv to be!

I checked keepsmiling (you just look up 'Austin television festivel 2014')
and it's headquartered the Stephen F. Austin Intercontinental Hotel located at 701 S. Congress. I was all gung-ho and excited, and just trying to decide which thing to attend and now I'm starting to chicken out...

I looked into Comicpalooza in Houston more and James Marsters is going to be there too! Spike from Buffy.

Although the bad thing with those conventions is that any of the guests can cancel at any time, if anything whatsoever comes up (like a role in something/job etc). Even when I went to Orlando to Megacon to see the two Blood Ties actors, the writer Tanya Huff was supposed to go too (who wrote the books the show was based on) and she ended up cancelling. I was sorry not to meet her - but much more interested in seeing 'the boys'!

Hi Everyone!

Poddy!!! I'm sooo happy that Big Viv was accepted into that HOME in OC! That is such Wonderful News!!!

It really looks like a lovely place too! I think she'll be happy there, and as MyrnaLynne said, she has friends there so that should help!

Keepsmiling, Awe, how Sweet! Your Great-Grandbaby is a baby girl! How Very Exciting for the Both of Us to be having Wonderful Blessings in August!

Ekua, I'm so glad you had such a Wonderful trip to Ghana, and what Great News about the girl that you sponsor! And what an honor to have your friend name her baby after you!!!
And I'm Wishing you safe travels on your next adventure before your move to Asia! And I wish you Best Wishes on your new career! And I wish you much happiness too!

MyrnaLynne, I'm so glad your Passover is going Great! Your Matzah Cookies sound really good! I'm so glad they turned out Great!
I hope you do end up going to those events and have the time of your life, and get to see your son as a bonus too!

And Yes, as MyrnaLynne said, my Bro' and his family will not be with us for Easter this year because my nephew Evan's girlfriend has to work, so he doesn't want to leave her home all alone as he lives with her, as they live and go to school in Santa Cruz, so my Bro' and his family will be going to Evan's for Easter this year. But he told me last minute, AFTER I had already bought ALL THE FOOD, and believe me there are TONS of it!

Then my No.1 son has to work, so his wife and girls are going to her mother's for Easter instead! So it will just be my No.2 son, Lainie, MOTHER, and I for Easter dinner. Such a small group that I'm not used to! It just won't be the same without everyone!

I hope Everyone Has a Wonderful Easter this Weekend to all who celebrate, and a continued Happy Passover too!

Biggest Hugs to All,
Wen

Thank you podmom, WenLuvsJB, keepsmiling7 and MyrnaLynne for your kind words. I am so proud of her, and only hope her exam results in August are good enough for her to do her nursing training. If not she'll end up back in her village working in the market or hawking which would break my heart. So fingers crossed.

Wonderful news podmom . I'm so happy things are working out for you.

Congrats WenLuvsJB and keepsmiling7 on your future grandchildren. Lovely news

Hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend!!

The Easter visitors left Monday morning......I spent the rest of that day washing towels and sheets, kept thinking I'd find time for a nap. Oops, almost forgot I had an afternoon appointment to have my teeth cleaned. There went the nap.

Clean house, clean teeth - you are all set keepsmiling! :

Well, Passover passed over last night, and we dragged out all the 'forbidden foods' again and Mr ML couldn't pop his Eggo waffles into the toaster-oven fast enough! MLette was at work so I haven't seen her, but she's coming in today for the Admin Professional Day festivities under the tent, with lunch and lovely gift (wonder what it will be)!

Kind of overcast and drizzly though, not a great day for a party under a tent (but at least there's the tent)!

Looks like I'm going to Houston over Memorial Day weekend, although they've already warned me it's going to be hot as Hell by then!

I think I'll just visit them and not bother with Comicpalooza, unless my son is interested in going to that with me. I'd love to see John Barrowman in person and James Marsters etc - although I see enough of Barrowman on FB these days - King of the Selfies! He is truly a show biz person because he loves to show off! Just the opposite of our super-private Jason Behr.

Still debating about the Roswell panel in Austin, but that's the following weekend and I don't know if I'm that much of a jet-setter to take two back to back trips, plus the $, plus everything seems to be sold out already for that! If you snooze, you lose! So true
