BehrAnt sad story about the swan family! There are a lot of Canada Geese around here (they came from Canada and never went back! LOL! Like Alex Trebec and William Shatner - giggle). We've seen some with fuzzy little yellow baby geese - sooo adorable. The geese are so attractive but quite a nuisance as they eat and poo all over the grass and wander onto the highways etc. sigh. Nature is so very cruel. Hope the swan family moved away from danger and lived to breed another season! LOL, a sentiment for a bird Birthday Card: Happy birthday and may you live to breed for another season.

I think they make the anti-flea drops for cats that they have for dogs. Drop some on their back once a month - no fleas or ticks! It's quite a miracle and works so much better than the flea collars - which just made all the fleas move down to the other end of the dog!

I got really worried about how much CBS might decide to try to retaliate. They could go after the bazilliion Moonlight fan-made song videos at YouTube (beautiful beautiful things) for copyright infringement. I suppose they could harrass the (many many) Moonlight fan sites too for one reason or another. sigh.

On the bright side, I heard Warner Bros put up 'Moonlight' for Emmy consideration! That would be so nice, although I know scifi/fantasy stuff never wins those things. A great snobbishness toward those types of shows in show business - as if philandering husbands or crooked cops are somehow morally superior to demon hunters or vampire slayers (or vampires). sigh. Would probably ease Alex and Sophia's hearts a lot to win an Emmy for their killed-before-its-time series!

Mr ML Jr's job interview turned out to be a hiring agency. I took a peek at his resume, too, and it's pretty terrible. Think we could help him fix it up a bit, especially since in my last job with a desktop publisher I probably did about 600 resumes for people!

Heard bad reviews for the new Indiana Jones movie. That's too bad - I was looking forward to it. We'll probably still go -but not expect too much. Making comparisons to Jar-Jar Binks episode of Star Wars! Oh well, people forget that the Indie movies were never Great Art - they were just good fun.

I have a terrible confession to make. I've cheated on Jason! I've been over on the David Cook forums reading posts like crazy and watching videos of his win last night on American Idol! I just got hooked by the guy. He's adorable (scruffy like Jason is sometimes), humble, sensitive, intelligent and enormously talented. Sounds like anyone we know? But I do feel like I'm cheating on Jason for some reason! I was so excited when he won, I sat about two feet from the tv and sobbed like a baby when he cried when he won. I feel like a huge Oogy Lady all over again!

Here's a picture of the winner, David Cook!

I didn't see the baby robins in the nest this morning, I hope they were just being really quiet or sleeping...I even stood on the wheel well of my SUV, trying to peer into the nest to see if they were there. Haven't seen Momma in days, I hope everything's okay!

BA - I love swans!!! I live very close to the Cheaspeake Bay in Maryland, and we have an non-native, invasive species as well as a native species of swans around here. There's been a lot of controversy over the non-native species (called a Mute Swan) taking over the territory of the native species. Right after the mutes lay their eggs, volunteers go out and "addle" the eggs, stirring up the contents so they won't hatch. Seems very harsh to me. But we've had so many invasive species of plants and animals who come in and thrive to the point that they drive out or eliminate completely a native species. The ecosystem is getting all mixed up! I hope a mink didn't get your baby swans. Is a mink large enough to get and kill an adult swan? They're pretty big!

ML - Mr ML Jr. was gargling with Coke? LOL! Now there's a kid for you! I cringe when I see kids drinking sodas, but they all do it. He was sweet to take you and MLette on your appointments. Hopefully he'll get his resume fixed and get a good job.

I loved what Sophia Myles said about American television, I'm almost reluctant to watch ANY new tv shows now, for fear that I'll get all involved in the show and it'll be ripped away from me. You're right as rain in saying that at least we got some sort of good ending for Mick and Beth. At least he wasn't lying in a pool of his own blood or something. Do vampires bleed? Maybe they don't?

I hope CBS doesn't go after the fans for any perceived infraction. That'd be cruel. And a big "BOO-HISS" to them for taking away our repeats of Moonlight. That's just plain old mean!

I planned to see Indiana Jones this weekend, I hope I like it! I heard Karen Allen's in it a lot. I loved her in Starman (yet another sci-fi show this scary fan loved!).

We're supposed to have a beautiful Memorial Day weather-wise. I hope the forecast stays true. I'm taking tomorrow off work, I'm having the carpets in the house cleaned in the morning and a plumber in the afternoon to see what's making my kitchen drain so slow! Fun times!

I usually avoid all 'Idol chatter' but I did read about the surprise upset of David Cook over the baby-faced (baby) David Archuletta. Seems like 'the best man won'! Hey, Jason got married, I don't think he can begrudge us a 'little something on the side' for ourselves. He does sound a lot like Jason, in all the good ways. Enjoy your fling! And a fling who can sing - even better.

Maggie has been trying to entice me to Bon Jovi, and I was pretty intrigued by him with the '60 Minutes' special they did on him. Interesting guy who has had quite a career (and nice body - ahem). Just not my type (too blond) or his music hasn't grabbed me either. But he has an amazing fandom and sells out concerts for BILLIONS. Billions. And has been doing it for decades. Nice man.

LOL, I taped and then fastforwarded through the most gawdawful scary gory horror movie that Kyle S was in last night, just to see some more of his work. I stopped and watched his scenes (unless they were too scary). Gosh what a baaaad movie! But he did a good job with it. Being good in a bad movie really shows how good an actor you are! Anybody can be good in a good movie! LOL!

He's filming another scary one this month, as we speak, up in Canada with Aaron Ashmore (Jimmy Olson) and one of the Duff sisters. I wish this horror movie 'kick' would wear out already, and they make some films I'm not too scared to see!
But I'm so glad he's working! Called 'Deep Cove' at the moment (was Dead End for awhile) - rolling eyes! LOL!

Sad about the swans and scrambling their eggs! Non-native things invading is a big problem, plants, animals - they move in and take over! We have that Japanese knotweed/bamboo that keeps springing up in the park - you can't get rid of the stuff! Swans are very territorial too - I think if swans take up some water, they drive off everything else from their pond. In the 1800s, all sorts of well meaning naturalists hauled all sorts of stuff over to Boston and then it got away.

Friday and a holiday weekend ahead! Big WOOHOO HOO!

Too funny, I taped a movie Bon Jovi was in, John Carpenter's vampire hunter movie, Los Muertos. Well, we watched it tonight - didn't fast forward at all, it was pretty good, and who was his costar but - Cristian de la Fuentes, the dancing with the star guy! Could''ve knocked me over with a feather! Diego Luna was in it too (too bad it's his costar Gael Garcia Bernal I like better). Anyway, it was a pretty good movie, although of course the vampires were the bad guys in this one! LOL! Now I root for the vampires!

It’s been a while since I checked in. Sometimes I wonder why I go on vacations. You have to work so hard, especially at work, to get ready to go and when you return you have to work like crazy to catch up, it’s almost not worth it. But that’s a pretty significant “almost”! So I got my desk in order this week and today I have to pack and run errands. But it will all be worth it when I’m floating in the pool on Monday.

BA – Nice pic of you and McHubby! You guys met online; how cool! You give me hope.

Beautiful little kitties, too! I just love them when they're small; so much fun. You probably know this already, but I read a story the other day about a woman who used a flea deterrent for dogs on her cat and it killed the cat. Just mentioning it in case.

And about the swans, yeah, nature is cruel. I bought my condo because there was a pond out back and I could watch nature. But it turned out to be too "real". Turtles and snakes ate the baby geese and ducks; hawks and foxes ate other creatures and the sounds -- ooohh! When I saw three male ducks hold a female duck down and "ahem", I decided that was enough nature for me!

ML – Sorry about Moonlighting. It sounds like this Mooves guy is the problem. Have we considered “canceling” him?

Podmom – Beautiful, smart daughter! (Or to be less chauvinistic, I guess I should say "Smart, beautiful daughter!) Congratulations either way!

LTL - A new lawyer in the family! Congratulations!

Wen – I feel for you without A/C! I cannot take the heat either. And with your leg problems it must be even worse. Sure wish we could ship a couple of degrees of our unusually cool spring out to you! Your little A/C in the kitchen reminds me of my childhood in Florida. We had window A/Cs that weren’t enough to cool the whole house so we would put blankets in doorways between rooms and then everyone would huddle in the air-conditioned rooms, the kitchen and the Florida (family) room. The schools weren’t air-conditioned back then either. I didn’t really notice it at the time, but we must have been really ripe, especially after recess! Those poor teachers!

Someone mentioned that Indiana Jones got a bad review, but Leah Rosen in People magazine gave it 3 stars. Sounds like the public will have to be the final judge. (The whip stands for Indy and his whip, not whipping the critics or anything.)

Good finale on GA. Almost everybody back where they're supposed to be!

Sure am missing Jason.

Happy Memorial Day and week, everyone!

I'm outta here!

True BBW saw that on Animal Cops, when somebody put dog flea stuff on a cat and nearly killed it.

It's also true, getting ready for vacation is tough and catching up at work afterwards makes you wonder why you ever went away - but the vacation part is usually pretty nice. Enjoy!

We saw 'Indiana Jones' today (5 shows at our local theater!) - it was pretty cool, kind of foolish, Harrison Ford is wicked old but once you get over that, it's a pretty typical Indiana Jones movie. Set in 1957, lots of period cars, outfits, cliches, etc, and they managed to work in Roswell, Close Encounters, American Graffiti, nod to Marlon Brando, Ark of the Covenant. Well, you get the idea! I can't see Shia Labouf taking over the franchise for Harrison Ford but you never know.

We have one of those rooms now - have one room with one small AC, and when it's bad, we go in there. Got a big one for the bedroom but unfortunately, it blows out the fuses and sucks all the electricity for the whole upstairs so.. bad idea. sigh. We really need to move.

LOL, I had no idea that ducks did that sort of stuff with lady ducks!! Nature is pretty, well, graphic. Every nature show I turn on, they are either having sex or killing something (or both).

Hey all!

Dad's birthday was ok.... kinda.... My mom, Mika and I looked for this really cool present for my dad and we bought him this pen with an inscription and we (at least Mika and I) were excited about it.... but then my dad didn't really seem to be all that grateful. Later he told my mom he loved it but apparently he couldn't have told that to the rest of us! Men! Or maybe it's just my dad.
Other then the present thing it was a lot of fun. We had a BBQ just like we always do at my dad's birthday and my uncles and their families came and that was great.

The day after we went to this place called Gahash. It's like this spa but there are pools there (and that was the 1st time I went swimming this summer so that was a lot of fun!) big hot-tubs - Some with bubbles and some without. Anyway we went with one of my uncles (and his wife and one of his kids) and we've had a lot of fun.

Then this last Shabath was kinda special because our community (or should I say the people in our neighborhood) hosted a few families from Jerusalem who's children (who were about 14) were murdered in their Yeshiva. One of our neighbors offered to do it to make them feel like they're not alone and to support them. Anyway it was an emotional Shabath.

Well that was my last 3 days.

You know it's kinda funny. You guys (at the US) had DWTS ending there and we're having it starting this week. The same with the American Idol thing. Our version of it starts tonight. Funny….

Scottie, I do hope Mama Robin's ok and that the little robins are ok too.

I just found out this morning that David Cook won AI! You know what I was hoping that he'll be the winner. I have to admit that Archuleta sings really well and has a wonderful voice but whenever he shows up on stage he looks very weird… I don't know why that is but the way he carries himself is just odd. And then you have Cook who is very sure of himself and very cool and well-put-together and all. Both have great voices but Cook has a lot more attraction about him. Anyway I'm glad your David won.

BBW, hope you'll have fun in that vacation you're planning. And yes! It would probably be worth all of the work thing you have to do now and will probably have to do later. And That moment when you're lying by the pool worth it all!

ML, well you see, all of those people who work at those network think that they are the ones who decide what the viewers will or will not see. After all they (network people) decide what's in and what's out… thing is they keep forgetting that viewers have a mind of their own… I know totally wrong but that's just them. I def hope someone will put some sense into them at some point.

Mr. ML Jr. way of cleaning those teeth of his sure is original. On a serious note, I def think he should give that one up… forever!

Sorry you guys can't go to a hotel for the anniversary! But seeing a good movie and just spending some time together will be great!

I have to agree with Sophia Myles. It's obvious that all those networks really want is to make money and if a show doesn't make them money then it's out the window. And it doesn't matter how great or creative that show might be. Sad.

Well honestly I've never seen Indiana Jones… I've heard a lot about all of those movies but I've never gotten to see any of them. I guess it would be interesting to know what all the fuss is about.

I hope everone had a wonderfull weekend!

all

They have been showing the old Indiana Jones movies on television, leading up to the new one coming out, to remind people what the fuss was about. It's funny, because these movies were supposed to be like the old-time adventure serials they would show in movie theaters - I think the filmmakers were recapturing their youth or something by making these. Star Wars was the same thing for George Lucas, only more like Buck Rogers. I think George Lucas only made 2 good movies, Star Wars and American Graffiti - and then he made Star Wars over and over and over. At least Spielberg has made many good movies, aside from this Indiana Jones series. I think this series succeeded on Harrison Ford's acting of the character and without him, it won't continue. I never thought Star Wars or Indiana Jones was so brilliant or original, but people love them. Indiana Jones movies are just fun. (And both had Harrison Ford!)

I think that David Archuleta was too young a boy to win American Idol and the other boy was more mature and more of a performer. With a little more time, the other boy will do well too, I think. Not that I ever watched the show! LOL! But you can't avoid their faces plastered everywhere in magazines, papers, etc.

That's funny Israeli Idol and Israeli Dancing with the Stars is just beginning. I actually watched the Indianapolis 500 car race this afternoon, because Helio Castroneves, the guy who won dancing last time and I liked a lot, is a race car driver. He won that race 3 times before but he didn't win - came in 3rd or 4th or 5th, I forget - I was hoping he would win, and also hoping he wouldn't crash or get hurt!

Such a strange 'sport' driving 200 miles an hour around and around. Very foolish to me, and it's like a video game when they show the driver's view. I think those video games are boring too. The woman driver, Danica Patrick - some guy hit her car coming out of the pit where they get gas and the tires changed fast-fast-fast, and he broke her car and she was SO mad, she got out of the car and was going down to beat him up or yell at him, but they stopped her. LOL! It wasn't like she was going to win anyway, she was behind.

It was very interesting, but I only watched it because of the dancing guy - wanted to see his 'day job'. I saw him interviewed at the end and he was very gracious and positive and cheerful, just like always. What a strange job! But I heard the guy who won (I think he might have been Australian, he had an accent) got 2.5 MILLION dollars plus, for winning - so I see why they want to win so badly!! LOL, for Dancing, all you get is an ugly trophy and the glory of winning.

Today our town had a big big Memorial Day parade, that goes right near my house - but I didn't walk over the 2 blocks to see it this year. Don't know why. I love that parade. sigh. This year I didn't go. Too lazy.

Weather is absolutely beautiful and gorgeous. Every house seems to be having parties and barbecues and company.

LOL, Mr ML got me a fancy pen for a gift. I am not sure I was so grateful either. But it's nice your dad liked it, VB even if he wouldn't say so at first. That was a thoughtful gift. The water park place sounds like fun too! Especially with your new bathing suit.

About Shabbat and the family whose Yeshivah students were killed. So cruel, so sad. sigh. I like the editor of US News & World Report magazine - he always writes big editorials in favor of Israel and against how they are treated, and tries to set the story straight but no, the Palestinians are the liberal's darling cause here. So stupid.

We have a holiday tomorrow! Not sure what we'll do but MLette took the day off from work, so I think maybe we'll go shopping. I saw a purse I really liked at a shoe store - she bought shoes that hurt and returned them, and I looked a purses while I was waiting for her. I didn't buy it, but I keep thinking about it and I think I'll go back and buy it as a gift for my anniversary! It is kind of orange colored, not the usual beige or black or white. And not too expensive.

We could have gone to a hotel, I suppose, but I didn't really want to. It seemed like a waste of money when we could do something simpler and have a good time and stay home.

I think I am coming to terms with 'Moonlight' being over. I don't think they will manage to find another network to bring it back. But I am still hoping for 'Blood Ties' because it is made in Canada and not such an expensive show and, well.. you never know. They haven't said hope is dead yet, so I'm going to hope a little bit longer. I ordered the rest of the 'Twilight' books, but they won't come til August!!! That's a long time to wait for the next book. But I didn't want them sending me book 3 and then book 2 later. sigh. Impatient for something to read! Tattooist DVD isn't coming til next month either.

Hey all!

Had a slow day today. Nothing big.

Ml, I guess Star Wars and Indiana Jones are just fun movies. You're not supposed to think in them you're just supposed to watch them. And honestly there is nothing wrong about that.

Well the last year it was Jordan Sparks and she was 17 too. I really don't think it had anything to do with the age, it was just the fact that he had a kinda boring personality… and he always looked a little out of his place, which was always weird for me because that kid has an amazing voice!

Yea those car races are scary sometimes. I don't really get that sport (if you can call it that)… but then I don't really get boxing and wrestling… why do a sport that can get you hurt? Go figure…

Funny story about the She-Driver! It's exactly what any other driver would have done… only with boobs.

Well you see my dad just loves pens. I know weird but he does. Whenever someone needs a pen my dad will be the 1st one to give it… and it's not because he's trying to be nice… it's because he wants to show off… I know who shows off with a pen? But that's dad, which is why it was kinda disappointing…

That's cool about the editor of US News & World Report mag! It's nice to know we're getting some nice editorials.
It's kinda easier to think Israel is to blame… I mean we have a country and they don't (it doesn't matter that they got their country in 1948 just like we did and just decided to go on war to get what Israel got and then they just lost their parts). It's just easier to look at them and feel sorry for them but we usually get a constant reminder to why they're not as fragile as the appear.

Hope you'll have a great holiday today! And that you'll get to buy that purse that you saw. I'm still looking for a normal pair of shoes and a normal purse too… all of the things out there just seem weird to me. I'll get them some day… hopefully this year.

I do hope blood Ties will go on… it's always hard when a show you love doesn't come back… 2? That's just crule!

Hope everyone's ok!

Hey all!

Happy Memorial Day to everyone and Happy Monday to VB!

The weather has been picture perfect for us the whole weekend so far. Very unusual because usually it rains or it's chilly (or both!) so this is a very welcome change.

We had a barbeque yesterday for some friends and my dad and we had a great time. We did ribs and chicken, potato salad, deviled eggs and green salad. For dessert we had berry pie. Thee weather was so pretty that we sat outside and enjoyed the clear sunshine. I worked hard on getting the yard and patio cleaned up and the house fixed and now I have to do it all over again after the party!

Well, the robins are definitely gone from the carport nest on the ladder. Hopefully the babies learned to fly and are now productive members of robin society. I saw a robin gathering nesting material just this morning. I wonder if it's the same or different robin mother. If it's a different mother I wish her luck!

We saw Iron Man on Saturday, I really enjoyed it. Loved RD Jr. in the film, I'd recommend it to all. Gweneth Paltroy as a redhead? Not so much...

Well, I'm just checking in and gotta go do something productive with what's left of my long weekend. Hope everyone enjoys today!

I have a friend who loves pens - if you open some drawers in her house, they are packed solid with different pens!

I think most 'sports' and things that guys do are mystifying - football, boxing, race car driving - and those 'man vs wild shows' where guys go out and get themselves lost in the woods and eat gross stuff! Guys!

We watched 'The Cat's Meow' last night - a Peter Bogdanovich movie (Netflix). It was about William Randolph Hearst and his mistress and Charlie Chaplin, etc. Eddie Izzard played Chaplin, Edward Herrmann was Hearst, and Kristin Dunst was Marion Davies. It was very good and interesting! Set in the 1920s. I watched all the 'extra stuff' for hours and just read about all the real people today at Wikipedia (which is one of the greatest inventions in the world - free people's encyclopedia!) Found out Hearst got expelled from Harvard before he graduated for playing a mean prank! Interesting times and people.

LOL, Mr ML Jr came home at 5:30 this morning from his weekend trip, and I had locked him out! The dog barked and barked - but the dog usually barks at that time, when the paper is delivered. But there was something different about his bark, so I went down and unlocked the door and there was Mr ML Jr, looking sheepish and tired. I was not too happy being awake so early because I stayed up late. YAWN!

Your party sounds great Scottie and too bad the robin family moved away. Maybe the kids were big enough to go out on their own and are off someplace, learning worm-hunting and other bird skills from Mom.

I wonder where Jason is this weekend and if he's having a nice holiday weekend too, with Ms KaDee.

Happy Memorial Day! LOL, when I was a little kid in Maine, the kids were very noisy on the boss and the bus driver yelled "There ain't gonna be no more Memorial Day, because you're gonna wake up the dead!" I think we all got quiet, thinking about that one and wondering what the heck he was talking about! Never forgot it!

Hi Everyone!

BA, Thanks for posting your pics, but the one of you and your McMr. is kind of dark on my computer screen and I can't lighten it... but you have lovely silhouettes!

And your kitties are absoulutely adorable! But sorry to hear about the puncture wounds they've given you tho'! OUCH! Yes, kitties have VERY SHARP teeth!

Wasn't it Calvin from 'Calvin and Hobbs' that said: "5 out of 6 of Hobb's Ends were Sharp!" OUCH!

And MOTHER has a tendency to call me, my Aunt's name(her sister), and call my Aunt, my name and I'm always correcting her. I don't know why she has such a mental block about that... I mean she's the one who NAMED me!

And I admit it... I sometimes get my No.1 son and No.2 son's names' mixed up, but their names are kind of alike too. (Mom says in defense! LOL!)

Vero, to your Dad! I'm glad to hear he had a Great one!

Sorry he disappointed you at 1st about not showing how much he liked the pen gift. Men, eh?

And I hope the Best for you on that interview you went on. If it's meant to be, then you'll get it.

Scottie, I too hope that Momma Robin and babies are in good health and just moved on... keeping positive thoughts about them.

And your weekends sounds Great so far! So glad you're having so much fun with Good weather too!

BBW, Enjoy your vacation! Have safe travels and have lots of fun and relaxation!

MyrnaLynne, I'm so glad MLette took the day off so you both could go shopping. What fun!

And enjoy buying your new purse too! It's always exciting finding a purse that you really like. It's so much better than just settling on one that you don't really like, but have to have new one.

So, from your REVIEW, I take it that you liked the New Indian Jones movie? It was kind of hard to tell? At least worthy of the others anyway?

I did like 1 and 3 but hated no.2, but that's just me.

Well, my Lainie Graduated Friday and the weather was actually nice and cool... in the 70's and breezy. All the students and Importants had a hard time from keeping their caps from flying away!

They held it in their football field because the theater was being remodeled and so much construction going on that we had to walk a mile I swear the get to the stadium and I was ready to croak! So I was Very Grateful to get a shuttle back to the car after it was over! That was a Very good idea to shuttle peeps back to their cars because that walk nearly killed me!

The ceremony was long, but nice, and yes, I cried like a baby when they called my Lainie's name and she received her diploma.

Thank goodness my no. 2 son was in charge of the camera because I couldn't see a thing as I was all teary. I am just so proud of her, plus she earned Two degrees, (way to go girl!)

Then we took her out to dinner, (her choice of restaurants), and she chose a new one and it was very, very good! Then home, and I finished last minute decorations for her Big Party that was the next day.

Her Party was a Big Hit! Everyone had a great time and I had tons of food so no one went away hungry, that's for sure!

I had gotten Lainie a Balloon Bouquet instead of a floral Bouquet because I knew she'd like that better and she loved it! She was just beaming when she saw it! LOL!

And I totally surprized her with my gift to her... I got her a 4.6 cu. ft. locking mini fridge for her dorm room for when she leaves and goes to live in the Dorm come this Fall. (See, I'm slowly coming to terms that she's leaving)

Anyway, she was totally shocked when my No.1 son brought it in for me. (I had it hiding at his house, he,he,he, so she wouldn't have a clue!) And I really shocked the socks off of her! LOL!

It was funny because for the past 2 weeks, she kept asking me: "So, what did you get me?" and I'd tell her, 'What are you talking about... I'm throwing you a party, that's my present to you!'

And she just kept asking here and there, and I was NOT about to tell her.

Well, I had a Graduation Party Gift Bag on my bed with tissue paper in it and all, and she said to me: "Hmm, there's a Graduation Gift on your bed... I wonder... is it for little ol' me?" and I told her, 'Oh no, that's for your cousin Shannon." (Who is my Bro's daughter, who is Graduating High School next week.)

And she just put her head down and said: "Darn!" and I just burst out laughing!

She was being funny, but still she was kind of curious too. It was driving her crazy not knowing what I had gotten her!

I hope Everyone has a Great Day today!

Hugs,
Wen

Well, I'm not one of those purse people (like MLette) who changes them frequently/ with every outfit. I usually have a summer one and a winter one and that's it. LOL, I keep too much stuff in mine to change it over more than every 6 months! Sometimes I just have the same one all year round! LOL! And generally keep them til they wear out.

I got these cloth messenger bags at Old Navy, one is tan, and one is blackish (identical design) and they're great and I've been using them summer and winter. Plus switching them over is easy, because they have all the same compartments etc.

But this jazzy one just appealed to me, and it had little compartments at either end like the ones I have now (one for my badge for work, the other for my subway pass). It had a very pretty fabric lining too.

GRADUATION! Congratulations on Lanie graduating, and the party being a big success, and her present being such a great surprise. Very thoughtful and useful gift too. Those little fridges are very handy - I have one in my office now, with my printer on top of it (and snacks and drinks for the day inside). :> My son had one and I swear the food he had kept in alive at college.

That's terrible you had such a long walk, and lucky there was a shuttle to get back again. My kids' highschool graduations were in a football stadium with the most incredibly uncomfortable seats. (is there a pain-in-butt smilie?) MLette's college graduation wasn't bad, it was in a huge huge tent but we were so far away we didn't see a thing - glad I bought the photo of her getting her diploma. Mr ML Jrs was outside and there was almost no seating at all, and blazing hot sun - we had a pretty good view but I'm not a stander and it was really tough. Much as I was mad my parents didn't go to their graduations, I was relieved because my parents would have been VERY unhappy at that one! (And at least I didn't have to listen to their complaints, just my own! LOL!)

Anyway, very very big occasion for your family! And congrats again to Poddy for her daughter graduating too! Big big milestone in life!

I keep singing the Indiana Jones theme song, so I guess I must have enjoyed the movie! It was a very fun movie, it just had a few spots where I said "wait a minute..." and it's sort of a shock at first, how old he's gotten, but that wears off pretty fast. Not the best one in the series (and ITA with the bad one with Short Round, the child slaves etc - too gruesome!!), but it was good and we enjoyed it/were glad we saw it. And it made $25 million Thurs it opened, $101 million this weekend, and they expect another $25 million today! Also read the first 3 Indie movies have earned $1.2 BILLION. Wow!

And I read Iron Man has made $252 million already! Of course my first question is how many hundred million did they spend making the thing (they spared no expense on either movie), but even if it was a lot, they'll turn a profit soon enough, and those movies go on and on.

Of course then I think about 'The Grudge' making $42 million the first weekend - but it only cost $10 to make! LOL! Every time I read about a 'good' box office for a film, I compare it to how Jason's movie did. And most of them don't compare that well - sometimes the '#1 movie at the box office' makes $13 million or something like that.

The movie business, just like the music business, television, newpapers, etc, is undergoing a change. People aren't going to the movies to see movies nearly as much (why would they, it's expensive and can be unpleasant surroundings - rude people, sticky floors, etc). It has to be a really big movie that we really want to see, to get us out to the movies.

I think eventually they will just implant a chip right in our heads that is a cell phone, DVD player, iPod etc - and people will sit there talking to themselves (to their inner phones) or staring off into space for hours (watching a movie) and everyone will be totally isolated from one another and living in their own separate dream worlds. Sort of like that Star Trek with the brains in jars.

Hey all!

Had a pretty quiet day today… I had to clean the apartment (we moved cleaning day from Thursday to Tuesday because we found a cleaning lady to come but she can come only on Mondays so…) but other then that is was pretty calm. I finished b4 lunch which was cool.

I also kept looking for a job… found a few interesting things but none of them was a long term thing so I haven't sent my VC yet…. Maybe I will tonight…

Scottie, happy to hear you had a great weather for Memorial Day! And that you had a good time BBQing! We still have leftovers and I just love that!

Sorry about the Robins. I hope their ok somewhere out there… anyway maybe you'll have new tenants soon.

ML, ITA! Wikipedia is totally the best! It's so cool you can find your favorite actors (or anything else) over there! Amazing really!

How come Mr. ML Jr. didn't have a key with him? I totally hate being interrupted to open the door…. I always make my brother and sister to take a key with them. I don't get people who leave their homes without taking one.

About that buss driver! That's a cool sentence! But it wouldn't sound that great in Hebrew. Still that was funny!

I think people who're not that crazy about things (like purses or shoes) when they find something the actually love they cherish it more (as much and you can cherish a purse or a pair of shoes) and enjoy them more then people who just buy every shoe they see… I think so anyhow.

I don't think I like that chip-implant idea… that is was to crazy for me… though sometimes today when I walk down the street and see someone talking on the phone with a ear-phone I sometimes don't see the ear-phone so I think they're speaking to themselves! So think what would happen with the implant thing… that is just way to much for me.

And I don't care going to the movies. Yea sometimes people are rude (like when they forget to close their cell-phone and then it rings right when it shouldn't) but usually when I go everything's ok… and then all about the movie. But you're right a lot less people go to the movies today then in the past… I blame it on the price! 31 NIS (about 10 $ nowadays) is way to much to pay for a movie in my book! So if the movie's not that great I wait for it to get to the DVDs and see it than.

Wen, funny about your mom getting confused with yours and your aunt's names! I wonder why she does that…

Thanks for the wishes. And it doesn't seem like that interview will turn-out to be anything… they haven't called so I think they probably took someone else. Well I wasn't excited about it (well only about the fact it was so close to home) so it's not that bad. On to better things. I hope…

CNGRATULATIONS to Lainie about her graduation! Happy to hear it was nice out…. But sad to hear you had to walk so much to the ceremony especially with your legs. Good thing about the shuttle at the end… to bad they didn't think about that at the beginning.

Happy to hear the party was a hit and that Lainie loved the balloons and the present you gave her! I know it will be hard to see her leave but you'll be ok!
That was funny how Lainie kept trying to find her present and get you to tell her what you bought her! You guys are just so sweet!

podmommy, hope you and Em and podad will have a good time in DC. Will you stay there for a while? Have a safe drive.

all

Went to see the knee doctor about my knee today - felt silly being there, the office was so full of people in much worse shape than me! They took an x-ray and he basically said it was just worn out and there wasn't much to do about it, and I was too young to get a new knee (and I don't want one yet anyway!). He gave me a shot in my knee, to see if that would help YEOW! Boy did I yelp! I couldn't believe he was doing that! So far it doesn't feel any better so I don't think I'll go back and do THAT again! Wow, what a business they have in orthopedic medicine - that's what to go into if you want to make your fortune! All the baby boomers have joints wearing out! They were so busy and spent as little time a possible with each person. In and out!

They've been showing a lot of the movies Kyle Schmid was in on TV lately - I taped one yesterday (in case it was a fast-forward-worthy one, like the horrible horror movie) but MLette and I ended up watching the whole thing and it was a pretty nice Lifetime type movie, although he played the no-good player boyfriend. He either plays the bad boyfriend or the school bully in a lot of these things - I guess it's his adorable impish face! He played soccer in this too, like he did in Travelling Pants, because, well, he's good at playing soccer. Almost went into that instead of acting. OK, sorry, TMI about this young guy. Can't wait til July to see him again!

I agree VB a lot of time you have to wonder "Are they talking on a cell phone... or are they just a crazy person talking to themselves?" Especially with the tiny earpiece things. Actually I think the people with cellphones look like crazy people too, when you see a whole group of people, walking down the street, everybody with a cellphone to their ear, gabbing away. What is so important that you can't even walk down the street without having to phone somebody while you do it? I even saw two people on a date, waiting to go in a restaurant - and they pulled out their cell phones and called other people while they waited, instead of having a conversation with their date!

Movies are too expensive and if you get soda or popcorn - it cost more than the movie! If four of us go to the movie and buy some snacks, it is a LOT of money! Much cheaper with Netflix and make popcorn at home. I generally only like to go see big special effects type movies, that look impressive on a big screen, at the movies.

Our anniversary today! 29 wonderful years. Mr ML got me a mushy card and box of chocolates! Aww! But he shaved off his beard yesterday! What a shock! Well, he left sort of the goatee and mustache combo, but he looks very different.

to Poddy!
