It's true, cleaning the floors usually isn't part of a secretarial job, although sometimes making coffee or things like that can be. Some places had the coffee thing be a rotating duty. I guess most business buildings usually have people that clean the buildings - never really thought about it though, if you are a small business. But I wouldn't clean the toilet!!! Although then you get a situation like my son's dormitory in college, where nobody cleaned the toilet or the bathroom (they were guys) and it was the most disgusting and repulsive bathroom I'd ever seen! It was a sort of upper class housing that was more independent (so the college didn't send people to clean it for them). Gross!

It's true, I love to hear Jason talk because it lets you see how his mind works, how he looks at things, what he has to say about stuff, how intelligent he is - I love the way he puts words together, and his voice itself!

I have received several reassuring emails that they are going to try to get everybody's money back, and heard that they are also trying to pull together some more low-key last-minute convention - but you can't tell people that a thing is cancelled, and then say "Oh well, maybe we'll just have a small one instead"! Especially as this thing was on such a grandiose scale to start with, that's why it never worked out! But I suppose that might be for people who show up anyway, or decided to come to Boston for the weekend anyway because it was too late to change their plans. The woman from Denmark and the woman from Switzerland are coming to town anyway. Long way to come for nothing, but Boston is a pretty good tourist city. We get lots of them.

But it's going to be SO hot this weekend - it's hot already today. They have this Arts Festival in my town, called ArtBeat, and it's happening this weekend too (about 2 blocks from my house) - it never fails that it is the most broiling hot weekend to be outdoors!

I guess you can tell I'm not a big outdoors/hot weather/sun person to start with. I spent yesterday, after jury duty, until bedtime, shut in our one room with the little air conditioner in the window!

But woohoo it's Friday - although it feels like Monday again, because I was off work yesterday. Very confusing!

Hey guys!

I just walked to the post office and then to CVS (VB - that's a drug store), and by the time I got back I could barely breathe!!! It's so hot out there! We have lots of tourists in town too and I feel so sorry for them walking around in their atheletic shoes and shorts and trying to keep cool. I'm so glad to be inside in the air conditioning.

The ads at the top of the page are now for grout cleaning, spring cleaning and bathroom cleaning!!!

Along the same lines of Mr. ML Jr's disgusting bathroom in college (lol!) my hubby had a roommate once who never did his share of cleaning the bathroom. One time hubby had to go away for the weekend and so he went into their shared bathroom and threw Comet (powdered bathroom cleanser) all over the tub, floor, toilet everywhere! Thinking, of course, that roommate would clean the bathroom. WRONG! When he got back home, his roommate had taken numerous showers, used the toilet and sink and walked all over the Comet on the floor and never cleaned it up! Hubby asked him about it and roommate said "what, I didn't notice!" Can you imagine? Hubby said that at one point, they actually had TOADSTOOLS growing out of the grout in the bathroom. Now that's disgusting! My hubby is now the most awesome bathroom cleaner in the world! He's in charge of the bathrooms in the house and he is terrific at cleaning them. I love him for that!

VB - I think you did a great thing, standing up for yourself regarding the vacuuming in the office. When I was much younger and a secretary, one of my bosses (who was actually younger than me!) asked me to go pick up his drycleaning. I refused to do it too and he never took advantage of me again. I was so angry. What gave him the right to ask me to go do his personal errands on my company time? I don't mind making the coffee, usually the first person in in our office makes the coffee and I like mine milder than a lot of other people do so I make it the way I like it. I only drink one cup a day, so I want to enjoy it not have to throw it out.

The construction guy who got the boo boo with the nail gun is doing fine. I talked to him yesterday and he said it was sore but didn't really bother him. The boss gave them the day off today since it's so bloody hot, but they'll probably finish the job next Tuesday. I can't wait to sit on it and enjoy the bug free environment.

I had a nice birthday, my son gave me One Republic's new cd and my hubby gave me some wine charms and new placemats. I told him not to get me anything, I pretty much get myself presents all during the year!, but he said he had to get me something to open. He fixed meatloaf, mashed potatoes and peas for dinner, that's what I asked for!

ML - I'd love to hear Jason's commentary, so I'll surely rent Tatooist if just for that! I just finished watching Enchanted, which was absolutely adorable, so I need to send that back to Netflix and I'll get Tatooist next! Anyone see Enchanted? It's so cute!

Podmom - glad you had a nice time with your relatives and body surfing! I hear you about siblings turning 60! My hubby will be 60 in November! My older sister just turned 55, so we're not too far behind 60 now. Sheesh, when did that happen?

Wen - hope you're staying cool, sweetie! Keep those feet elevated! Say hey to Mother for me!

LOL about the oblivious roommate - must have been on wayyy too many drugs! Although I worked with a piggish woman who would slop her cup of coffee all down the carpet in our office and be totally unaware she was making a mess! But how can you walk around in bleaching gritty cleanser in your bare feet and not notice it?! Maybe he thought your husband just spilled a little powder after his shower? GUYS!

Good for you about not picking up the dry cleaning. Boss wanted me to type some school papers for the head nurses's son years ago - I said I didn't do my own kids homework and I certainly wouldn't do any for that woman! But I did type a paper or two for the boss's daughter - although she never said that's what it was, but I kind of figured it wasn't exactly medical stuff... Guy at the navy had one of the women type some personal/homework stuff for his kids during duty hours - that is sooo illegal and he could have been brought up on 'fraud, waste, and abuse' charges - glad he didn't ask me! It's easy for bosses to start to think you are their 'office wife' and they can get you to do whatever their wife might do for them at home! In fact, when I quit that doofus job, the guy said "I feel like my girlfriend just broke up with me!" In his dreams!!

I hear you about the weather - Just walked back to my building from the other building after lunch and I thought my hair was going to burst into flames! The sun is really strong. But at least we have a 'sea breeze' today that makes it a tiny bit better. Tomorrow it's supposed to be brutal!

We loved 'Enchanted'! What a nice movie! I really liked the McDreamy guy in that too (I don't watch Grey's Anatomy so I didn't really know him or his work.) He's originally from Maine too (I grew up mostly in Maine - ages 3-12, anyway).

Scottie, your husband sounds like such a great guy! Didn't we luck out with the good husbands? (Or was it our careful selectivity and good taste? heh). Nah - lucky.

I didn't know Netflix had the Tattoist already! Would be a good thing to rent, because I know I'm never going to watch it again - twice was plenty (one time too many, probably).

We're due for some more 'Torchwoods' this weekend. Aye aye, Captain Jack! heh.

And speaking of guys with rugged chins Nathan Fillion is in a crazy online musical, Dr Horrible (the Dr is Neal Patrick Harris - who knew he could sing?) Joss Whedon and co came up with during the writer's strike (when they were all going a little crazy) - It's 3 13-minute parts, the 3rd part is posted tomorrow, and it's only online free til Sunday so go check it out. And thanks to Fearless for the heads up about it too.
Dr. Horrible

Must have been a great weekend! Not a JOF or JIT to be found. We had a terrific thunderstorm/rain yesterday. And then our TV died! I don't think it was the lightning, because Mr ML Jr had his computer running (like an idiot) during the storm and it was fine. Also, Mr ML kicked over our big floor fan and broke it this weekend - hottest day of the summer and he manages to break our fan. It is always something!

I watched that Torchwood DVD over and over again this weekend (with various people who hadn't seen it yet), watched the extra stuff, watched it with the (dull) commentary - yep, I am liking Torchwood! It's so nice watching a UK show too and not recognizing any of the actors.

But I didn't go hang out with the 'Blood Ties' gals who came to Boston, the weather was so beastly and I got nervous and shy about finding them (I hadn't made any plans with anybody) so I ended up snubbing them. So now I can't show my face on their board again. sigh. We did end up taking a swing through ArtBeat, the annoying (and broiling) arts festival and I bought a gorgeous pottery bowl - white and blue on the outside, maroon glaze in the inside. Very pretty thing. Plus we got Indian food from the local restaurant vendor booths and checked it all out. We brought the dog and he was dying from the sun and freaking out from the crowds (but we had to walk him anyway, so...)

He was also VERY unhappy with the thunder and lightening yesterday. He's a very stoic and mellow dog, so he doesn't carry on, but he sticks nearby and you can tell he's unhappy with the booming.

Hi Everyone!

Ah, Captain Jack! Just gotta love him! Love him in real life too! He's so personable! I wonder what his lover looks like? I'd love to see him. Wonder if he's as cute as Captain Jack?

It's Doctor Who's final show (3 parter) and Captain Jack will be making an appearance! Woo Hoo! It should be good! They just aired part 1 Friday Night. Can't hardly wait till next Friday!

And Yes, I've had my share of Boss's that tried to over step their boundries with non-work requests. So annoying! When I was younger, I'd do the tasks but as I got older, it was NO WAY!

Well, been doing lots of car researching and car shopping on line, and have been looking at Saturns and have been liking what we've been seeing. They have excellent safety ratings... 5 out of 5! And their prices are more reasonable than Honda or Toyota, altho, Honda and Toyota are top of the line!

We're looking for a late model used car and right now we're eyeing this 2006 Saturn with 30,000 miles on it that used to be a dealer's car, so it's most likely been very well maintained.

Can't go physically see it until Thursday tho'. But it really looks good on the website.

When we get there, we'll be sure to have them show us the fluids to make sure they are clean in color, and not dirty or burnt looking. That's very important!!! Also, we'll take a rag and wipe the inside of the tail pipe and see what it looks like... if it comes out all black and yucky, then that means the car is burning oil, which is Very Bad!!! Also we'll look under then car and see if it's leaking oil, that's important too!

Also, the test ride should include taking it on the freeway to see if it shakes at freeway speeds and if it does, could mean that it's out of line or the tires are unbalanced or some other trouble that could be bad.

Also, try not to finance thru' the dealership... that way you have more of a chance to knock the price down if you come in basically as a cash buyer, and if they don't knock the price down, then walk away. They'll don't want to loose a sale, so they'll work with you on it.

I also subscribed to CARFAX and have been looking up cars like crazy! It's so much fun!!! It tells you all the car's DMV records and if the car is a lemon or if it's been totalled, or has been in any accidents, even if the air bags have been deployed. It even reports recalls too, plus a bunch of other stuff.

I even found out that the '88 Chevy Suburban that I owned here in CA and sold in '95 is now in Maine! I was surprised about that! It was an excellent vehicle!

See, I told you I've been researching. LOL!

Oh, and the Cable installation got postponed till this Thurs cause the cable guy couldn't figure out which cable was the original point of entry since I have cables going into practically every room because my No.2 son and his friend hooked all the rooms up with cable, and I couldn't remember what room it originally came into.

Well, No.2 son was WILD when he got home from work and said the cable guy was lazy! So he is taking that day off for the next installation date to make sure they don't leave, because he can answer all of their questions.

Well, I hope Everyone has a Great Week!

Hugs,
Wen

I don't know about the Saturns - Consumer Report doesn't include a single model of them in their 'reliable used cars' at various prices list (and a few models/years show up on their 'cars to avoid' list). I tried to copy that online list and IM it to you, but of course they won't let you do that. But I know people have them and are happy with them. Our 90 year old neighbor across the street is still driving hers! I think the Vue is very nice looking, but it's not supposed to be a great car. I always get tempted by the good looks, so with MLette I'm trying to find one that's really reliable and won't give her trouble (even if it's kind of boring to look at). Especially since she's paying for it! LOL!

Research is very good and knowing what to look for, because as I said earlier, they are all out to trick you, and get as much money as they can, and they don't care if it's a good car or a lemon, just that they get it off their lot.

Funny with the cable guy. My brother-in-law did that years ago - while my mother-in-law was away on vacation, he had the cable guy come in and run cable upstairs to his bedroom - by drilling a hole right through the dining room ceiling! He did that plus he also bought a Rotweiler while she was away - So she got home to a puppy and a hole in the ceiling! Boy, was she ever mad when she got home! LOL!

I've just been looking at TVs - think I found what we're going to get. We don't need a giant one -our room isn't that big and we don't sit that far away. But I'm sure the guys will want an enormous new one! (at least until they see how much they cost). What a pain! I hate all this new technology with plasma and LCD and HD - you need a PhD to replace your television nowadays!

Good morning all!

ML - I just checked and Netflix does have The Tatooist for rent so I just moved it to the top of my que. I still haven't mailed back Enchanted, gotta do that soon.

We had a welcome thunderstorm last night too, we were actually suprised b/c it came after dark so we hadn't seen the storm clouds coming and were sort of taken unawares by the thunder and lightning.

I spent almost the entire day watching the Mad Men marathon on AMC yesterday. It was really good, I'd heard so much about it, but I honestly can't commit to watching a show at 10 pm on Sunday nights even if it had been nominated for skads of Emmy awards. But now that we have the Verizon dvr thingie we can just schedule it to record the entire series and watch it when we want. Does anyone watch that show, it's really good. I find it hard to watch in some ways b/c it's set in 1960 and seeing how African Americans were treated, Jews, women, secretaries in general, it's difficult to watch for me. The bigotry is mind boggling. But there is a very strong Jewish business woman character that gives as good as she gets and I love her scenes. It's the wimpy blonde wifey character that makes me want to shake her as she's so manipulated but so clueless! (January Jones plays the wifey character - she used to date Josh Groban!)

ML and Wen - my hubby has a 2005 Saturn Ion and loves it. It's a really reliable car and actually maneuvers (sp?) very well. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it's really very light (but gets good gas mileage) and in some ways doesn't feel all that safe and sound, know what I mean? When you close the trunk, for instance, it sounds all tinny and doesn't shut with a resounding "thunk" like it should. But it is very reliable and surprisingly roomy for a little compact car. The paint finish is good too, insides well thought out and it parks easily. My friend has a Vue, and that is actually her third Saturn so far, she loves them.

I've watched a few eps of Torchwood, I liked them too.

Wen - good luck car shopping, I hope you find something you love. Are you buying this car for Laine? Good luck with Cable Guy, that's happened to me too, I hate when repair peeps leave after a scheduled appointment without the job done!

Yes, some of the models of the Saturns were not good and I'm def going to avoid these! But we have some friends that have Saturns and just swear by them so who knows!

I def did LOVE my Camry... and it took me to 250,000! So with proper maintanance, the car will love you back. I'd love to get another one, but they are just out of my price range right now. And I don't want one older than 5 yrs old, which makes it out of my price range.

I'm so sorry to hear about your TV dieing! And that your fan getting broken! Geesh, when it rains, it pours!

But on the up side, you get a New TV out of it! Didn't Mr. ML Jr. want to get his Dad a TV a while back for his Birthday or something like that? I seem to recall that not long ago.

And sorry to hear about the horrendeous Thunder Storm! We haven't seen rain in months! And probably won't for several more months to come.

Poor Elmo not liking the big booms! My Teddi-Behr doesn't like big noises either.

Well, I'd better scoot... MOTHER is here... She was bored and lonely last night so she wanted me to go get her at 10:30pm last night... so like the good (idiot) daughter that I am, I went and got her and she spent the night.

I've only had one hour's sleep so far and I'm getting tired now. Maybe I can catch a nap later, I hope, where as MOTHER slept blissfully fine on my couch most of the night. (Sigh... I hate insomnia... Sigh)

Hi Scottie! Yes, it will mainly be Lainie's car.

Gotta scoot...
hugs,
Wen

LOL, the cars 'Azera' and 'Aveo' both sound like foreign words for 'trouble' - I think Avera in Hebrew is 'evil decree' or something like that (gazera?). VB will know.

LOL, reminds me of when they introduce the Chevy Nova to Latin America and "no va" in Spanish means "it doesn't go"! Needless to say, it wasn't a huge selling car down there.

MLette's boyfriend has THE worst junker of a car - it's all squeeks and rattles and peeling paint and no shocks - very scary to ride in. But as you say, it's all he can afford (plus he is a horrendous judge of cars! Buys the worst ones!) He just buys really cheap junkers and basically throws them away when they stop going. Mr ML used to drive similar scary type cars when I first met him. The BF did have a nice motorcycle that was his pride and joy, but he ended up selling it, I think it was vandalized (he also picks the worst neighborhoods for apartmens!) and he decided he needed to get rid of it.

Almost made it through Monday!

I just started hearing about 'Mad Men' but ITA, I can't commit to any shows at 10 on Sunday (already is Burn Notice and In Plain Sight around then and that's too late). Good idea to record them.

You're right Wen Mr ML Jr wanted to get his dad a new TV for last Hanukah or his birthday (January) but he said he didn't want one. Well, now we need to get a new one after all!

I have the awful feeling the rest of our appliances are going to stop working soon too (they're all old, except for the new stove). One of the 'joys' of being a JOT - you start to outlive your 'stuff!

MyrnaLynne, LOL! I remember when the Chevy Nova was a disaster in Spanish speaking Countries! "NO GO" LOL! Too funny... one would think that someone would have researched the New Name and what it meant in all languages! LOL!

I've never heard of 'Mad Men' so I'll have to check it out. What's it about?

And you are sooo funny about needing a PHD to pick out and buy a TV now a days but you are sooo right! It's really gotten so complicated!

My No.2 son has been talking about us needing a new TV for the living room, with the new this, that, and the other thing, and I don't have a clue on what he's talking about!

My Bro' had the worst luck last month... his water heater went out, and right after that, (the next week) his washing machine broke and was not worth fixing so they had to get a new one. Bam, two major appliances in 2 weeks! Boy, he was NOT happy at all!

And they had just finished spending a small fortune on their daughter's graduation and Prom, and Senior field Trip too, so Bro' was really NOT happy dishing out more money, (even tho' he's got it and doesn't have any worries in that dept, as I should be so lucky.)

Oh, I forgot to mention... Thanks for posting the link to DR. HORRIBLE! I didn't know he could sing either! LOL!

Scottie, Well, Lainie will be driving the car back and forth to school every day but it will be a family car, but she'll use it the most. And we're running out of time because Summer classes start Aug. 18th!

And thanks for all the good info on Saturns, especially from a Saturn owner! I've only heard good things too! Makes me feel better about them even more.

I checked out the 2006 Saturn on Motor Trend and there are no recalls for that year so that's good too! And it got a 5 out of 5 safety rating, so I was excited about that too! It's just looking better and better all the time!

Oh, and MOTHER was tickled that you said "Hi", and she says "Hi" back. btw, she thinks you are so CUTE from all the pictures that I've showed her of you.

Hope Everyone Has a Great Day!

Hugs to All,
Wen

Have a safe switch, Poddy - giving her back or getting her? (I hope passing her off, no offense to Big Viv)

Wen things always seem to happen like that in batches - water heater and washer, fan and TV with us. Wow, we had to replace the water heater and that was expensive! Oh well, any time you have to get a plumber involved, it's going to cost you. Our disposall in the sink is dying too, now that I think about it. We don't use it much (treat it like an old gal without many teeth, put food trash mostly in the trash) but I think that's going to have to be fixed - sigh - which involves a plumber. Always something!

We went out and got a TV - I saw one at Sears on sale that was highly recommended but it said 'while supplies last' so I called and the lady said "Well, we have on one the floor you can look at and touch - but we don't have any in stock, you'd need to order it"! I said I don't want to TOUCH it, I need to BUY one. She checked and nope, they didn't have any in stock! D'oh, glad I called to check - saved us a trip to Sears. Anyway, we got one at Best Buy, a place I don't like much (since they sold us that dented microwave oven and they did some stuff my son wasn't happy about with computer stuff too). We made sure the box it came in looked good (wasn't dented)! They had some cheap fans on sale too, so Mr ML grabbed one. I put the TV and stand together and hooked it up - new TV, but still nothing on. And I'm not sure I even like this newfangled thing. Not sure it's as good as a regular old TV, for our purposes anyway.

Good luck with the car buying Wen! I think MLette is going out tonight to (finally) get hers. She wants to bring the boyfriend to haggle for her.

Another car in the family is going to be such a pain - we can put two in the driveway but it's a very tight fit (and of course the person parked inside invariably needs to go somewhere so the person behind them has to move their car). It's a pain now, when they have weekly street cleaning and you have to park on one side or the other certain days, but then there's winter - when parking is a nightmare and involves a lot of shovelling and snow takes up half the spots. Oh well, she needed a car but she's not thrilled at the prospect, realizes it's going to be a pain, a responsibility and a big big expense. Welcome to being a grown up!

Hey all!!

Well that work thing didn't work out… I was thinking of a way to get out of it all yesterday morning and then I had a relatively good day… but my (now ex-) boss called me in and told me it won't work out… and honestly I agree. It was like they expected me to get everything the 1st time around and if I had a mistake after they told me something then it's like the worst thing in the world… which made me feel bad so it's not worth it so I'm out. They'll pay me for the days I worked (which is a grand total of 9 days) and that's that.

So it's back to the big search for now… I hope I'll find something I actually like to do this time… and people (who to make things honest) are nicer.

On the family front my grandma fell down a few ago, and guess what! She broke her wrist. So my mom took her to a Hospital and now she has a cast on…. which totally frustrates her. And she's in a lot of pain poor thing. I guess not having a job again means I can help a little…I just wish she'd actually listen to us when we tell her to watch her steps and use a walking stick…
Anyway she has to have that for 5 weeks so here we are…

Well it is summer so it's hot over here too… but I have more problems with humidity then anything else.

ML, well I guess boys will be boys… they are just not too hygienic at a certain age. I don't get them sometimes but maybe it's the fact they don't have to sit on a toilet so they don't really mind how dirty it is.

Well I don't know about "office-wife" but they sure seem to think that you live and breath for that job and therefore the can ask you to do thing which you don't really have to. And you know what unless it's like the dream job there is no way a secretary would just love her job that much.

about the TV dying on you guys. And the fan? It's so hot out and Mr. ML broke the fan? You poor thing! It's almost impossible to live now with out a good fan or a good A/C!

OMG! I can't believe you brother-in-law did that! A hole? In the dining room ceiling? Well that was very smart…. I mean seriously, what did he think will happen when his mom got home?

Well 'Avera' is more like breaking a law (a crime) and 'gzera' is something like an evil law. But you're right those cars names do sound like that. And it's kinda funny when you think about it.

Glad you found a new TV… now you only have to find something to watch.

Scottie, that's never nice to have a room-mate who doesn't do his/her share of cleaning. But at least you don't have to clean now. That experience made your hubby more then willing to do that. I'm telling you it's just not one of life's pleasures. But somebody has to do it (and today that was me)

Thanks… but I'm glad I don't have to be there anymore… something tells me I would have caved about it in the end since the other secretary (the one that works 'till 2 pm) said she does it and doesn't mind. He just never mentioned it in the interview (any of them) and it just shocked me…. As I've said I'm just happy I don't have to go there anymore. I know it was a job and it was definitely better then nothing… but I'll find something else.

Glad to hear that nail-gun incident wasn't that bad and that the worker can get back to work… Those things can be dangerous.

Awww that was sweet of your hubby to make dinner (and what you asked for too!) – even if it was your birthday. Every time I hear about a male cooking I just think it's sweet… most don't so the ones that do always impress me.

My sister and I are planning to watch Enchanted. We just have to find the time… Saturday's nights are out (and usually that's the only day possible) because my mom likes to watch that show about all of those over-weights people, you know the one where they lose weight on and the one who loses the most wins…. So many kinds of TV shows and she had to get into a reality show…. I don't get that… but as long as she's having fun.

Wen, good luck with the car shopping! I hope that car will be it.
And thank you for those car inspection tips! I'm considering buying a car too (of course now that I'm unemployed again it's gonna have to wait a while longer) so that's good to know!
for doing all of the research!

We're getting the cable upgrade today. Actually I'm waiting for the cable guy now. I can't wait to get all of those channels!

Hope you got to sleep that night your mom was with you… not that you get to sleep that much anyway… but I still hope

podmommy, have a safe drive!

Well that's that for now…

Safe travels Poddy. I take it that Sis is taking Big Viv now, since you've been in OC with her, right? Now hopefully you'll have a little more Poddy-time to do some things for you.

MyrnaLynne, Yes, it's true... bad things do happen in batches. Let's just hope nothing bad happens to any of us for a long, long time! (finger's crossed!)

But congrats on the new TV! Did you end up getting one of those Flat screens? That's all I end up seeing now a days! I seriously doubt if they even make the regular TV's anymore!

And did MLette finally get her car? If so Congrats to her too! What kind of car did she finally decide on?

Thanks for the good wishes on my car shopping. Still waiting on the financing part which should be ready by Thurs, or so they said. We're not going to go thru' a dealership... we're getting the financing ahead of time.

And parking is going to be a nightmare here too until we get to donate our Camry to Charity. Our driveway can hold two cars too, and that means one car will have to park on the street. Only problem with that is, my neighbors from Hell on my left have all their vehicles parked all in front of my house! Grrrrrr!

And my neighbors from Hell on my right, take the one parking space in front of my house that's on their side, that's on the other side of my driveway. Grrrr! It's going to be a battle royal trying to get a parking spot for a while!

The Charity peeps said that they are pretty booked up and it could be a couple of weeks before they can get a tow truck out my way to pick up the Camry. (sigh)

Hopefully, it'll all work out.

Vero!

Hugs to All,
Wen

Good morning!

VB you quit/the boss let you go already!? Wow that was fast! But I guess if it wasn't working out for either of you, it's better to know right away and go someplace else. Doesn't sound like a very nice boss/company/job anyway. Their loss! How stupid of them to expect you to come in at the last minute and know everything without having time to learn it! And it worked out, that you're around to help your Grandmother now, until you find something else.

And your poor Grandma! That's just what my Mr Boss did - he had a fall and broke his wrist and has a cast on. I guess you reach out to stop yourself from falling and then put all the weight when you fall on your wrist (and Mr Boss has a lot of weight - ahem). Old people and falling is never good.

LOL, I can't believe your Mom is into 'Biggest Loser' but I know how some of those shows just catch a person's interest. And losing weight is such a hard struggle, I can imagine it can be kind of dramatic.

MLette bought the car last night! Oh gosh, what an ordeal though. The dealership closed at 9 and we didn't finish up with the signing-papers/money guy until maybe 10:30 or later! We were SO exhausted! They sold a lot of cars that night and we had to wait and wait for our turn with the money guy - who was a yuong guy and the biggest IDIOT I've ever run into in a long time - I wanted to hit him with something, he was such a jerk. sigh. And it started pouring rain right after we finished looking at the cars and she drove it around the (big) lot and she decided on which one she wanted. And of course she didn't do any planning about financing, so she had to take the (bad) deal they offered her for financing in the middle of the night. Which doesn't matter that much, because living at home she has zero other expenses and can pay it off fairly soon. She also put a big chunk of money down on it too. Anyway, I didn't get to bed til midnight!

And MLette was up bright and early to shop around for car insurance, because no insurance = no license plates = no car. We're going to go pick it up Friday afternoon.

It's a 2005 Camry and it's grey and it only has 21,000 miles on it! Like brand-new! We brought the BF but we ended up not doing much haggling at all. Doesn't matter. The dealer guy was very very nice, but then the man we had to deal with when we were sooo tired was such a jerk, and he's the guy to tries to give you the hard sell to sign up for warranties and extra stuff, but MLette just said no, no, no thank you. Oh gosh, I couldn't stand that guy - but as I said to her, you take home the car, you don't ever have to see the car dealer again! If that guy had been the salesman, we would have walked out (like that place with the stinky cigar man at the other dealer, who lost our business with his smelly cigar in our faces).

The worst thing was, they had 'I Survived a Japanese Game Show' on TV in the waiting room, so we had to sit there and watch the most bizarre and stupid TV show ever. But I kept thinking of Jason, with Toho Studios, and mochi balls and stuff, so I had some happy Jason thoughts to make that show not so bad. I never would have watched it, but we were a captive audience! Plus the weather turned very chilly and poor MLette was freezing - she was all goosebumps from the AC indoors and the cold air outdoors. sigh. Yep, it was an ordeal, but I think she made a good pick (I hope!)

Anyway, it's done and now I can turn my attentions to poor Mr ML Jr and find him a job. I emailed him half a dozen job ads yesterday - and he said he didn't get any emails!

Wen that's so nice to donate the old car to Charity! We did that with one car. What a pain that your neighbors are so totally rude. We had to park in front of the house next door once (they have a big driveway also, but 3 cars) and they were kind of shooting us dirty looks. Hey, it's a public street, it's first come, first serve. And it's not like they didn't cut our trees back without asking or rip down the fence between our houses and put up a huge dark one that keeps all the light off my yard now. Anyway, don't like them. Well, he's okay, but I don't like that pushy wife next door one bit.

Oh gosh, I'm sooo exhausted this morning... MLette leaped out of bed early to start looking into car insurance.

I tried to unsubscribe to that Other Fan site that isn't named, because I keep getting spam through that email account - and there's no option to unsubscribe. That's pretty weird. Other weird stuff is, the spam is coming from Japan.

whew........took me two sessions to finish reading all the great posts...teach me to let life interfear with lala time!

it's late now and I'm too stressed about Emily sitting in the airplane on the tarmac for 3 hrs and counting waiting for the thunder storms to pass. She's flying back to DC and the storms are up and down the coast....why they keep them on the plane is beyond me...she's sitting with the 2 boys she made friends with at training so at least she isn't alone. I miss the days of my kids sleeping under my roof

I'll check back tomorrow and SO but till then vB about the job not working out....frustrating.....the right one is out there waiting for you...hope you find it soon
